rogerSharing Hope! That’s our 2013 Missions theme. But it represents more

than just a theme. It is what we are doing. Whether it’s sharing hope with the deaf in Madagascar or sharing hope with single moms while

we are changing oil, Warren members are all over the globe sharing the hope that is found in Jesus Christ.

The goal of this magazine is to inform you of what Warren is doing, both locally and globally. It is our desire that after learning about the many opportunities offered, you will choose to become involved. As you read this magazine, be open to God’s calling and where He may be leading you to serve.

Please be in prayer, daily, for these various mission teams and ministries as they Share Hope across the globe.

— Roger

Conyers, GA Ecuador Medical MissionsOne of the many rewarding mission

opportunities within our state can be found at the Lakeview Mobile Home

Park, a Hispanic community in Conyers, Georgia. Warren has an ongoing partnership with the sponsor church, Rockdale Baptist, as well as the leaders of the Lakeview Mission Church in reaching this large community. The mission team provides a five-day Vacation Bible School curriculum that teaches children foundational truths from the Bible and encourages them to use God’s wisdom in their lives. One of the goals is to support the ongoing work of the Lakeview Mission Church by presenting the gospel and teaching the love of Christ. The Conyers trip encourages families to participate in a week of selfless compassion and hard work. It is a great opportunity to minister to others close to our homes.

Team Leader Sherwood Everette [email protected]

Warren currently offers three medical mission

teams – two travel to the Cuenca and one to Ibarra. Over 1200 villagers in the Ecuadorian mountains receive medical treatment during a week of clinical outreach. Children and adults receive medical care, which then paves the way for local missionaries to return with the Bible and other ministry tools to present Christ in the communities. Warren partners with the Christian Medical Dental Association on the two trips to Cuenca.

This was an incredible trip for my children to be a part of. They look forward to going back again!

Being able to care for the Ecuadorian people

both physically and spiritually is truly a blessing.

MADAGASCAR RICHMOND, VA

In 2012, Warren accepted the challenge to embrace an Unengaged, Unreached People Group (UUPG). The Deaf Malagasy may be

considered unreached and unengaged by the evangelical community, but they are not untouched. With the help of translators, this first mission trip laid the ground work of building relationships and learning to share Christ through the use of sign language to this deaf community of 200,000. Warren plans to send teams two to three times a year to Madagascar in order to establish churches and spread the news of Christ.

Missions Ministry [email protected]

Warren works with the International Mission Board to host missionaries that are

commissioned at the Learning Center in Richmond, VA. While at the Learning Center, duties include:

• Hospitality/Host Team for Field Personnel Orientation – This team greets, registers, and transports luggage for new missionaries as they are attending an 8-week training prior to departing for their international field assignments.

• Prayer Walk – This team walks the entire campus of the Learning Center where the Field Personnel Orientation takes place, praying for each missionary and their family.

• Volunteer Projects – This team volunteers at either the Learning Center or the IMB Headquarters building for a day performing various duties.

If you prefer to stay close to home, this is a wonderful opportunity to support missionaries and their families as they are preparing for the field.

Team Leader | Dave Dillard | [email protected]

The deaf Malagasy are extremely receptive to the gospel, if only someone will tell them.

To be a part of preparing missionaries to enter the field is such a rewarding experience.

Odessa, Ukraine

The Ukraine mission trip is a partnership between Warren and Christian

Missions in Action. The team ministers to children and adults in farm villages outside of Odessa. The purpose of this team is to share God’s foundational truths while sharing the hope we have in Christ.

Team Leader | Jim Sechrist | [email protected]

Working in the farm villages of the Ukraine is something everyone should experience.

Cape Town, South Africa

Knysna, South Africa

Cape Town, South Africa is one of the most beautiful places on earth but like

much of South Africa, it is a paradox. The beauty of the landscape is broken up by disease and poverty which leaves so many children alone, living as orphans. The Home from Home organization has stepped in to give these orphans hope and a chance at a normal life by giving them loving homes and mothers. Warren partners with Home from Home to help these little ones by providing maintenance for the homes and sharing Christ through children’s ministry. The average day in Cape Town can consist of painting, hammering, singing, playing, and most of all sharing Christ’s love. Whether you have construction skills, enjoy children’s ministry, or just have a love for the Lord, a trip to Cape Town can be a perfect way to share the hope found in Christ and be His hands and feet.

Team Leader | Kevin Pike | [email protected]

This trip is a partnership with a local Knsyna ministry, Lukhanyiso, that provides orphan

care, a soup kitchen, educational foundation, a skills development center, and emergency shelter within the impoverished townships surrounding Knysna. Along with a local church, Lukhanyiso has helped start a plant church in the township to minister to the local Xhosa and Coloured people.

The focus for this mission team is evangelism and discipleship. Biblical principles are presented daily to the children through song, crafts and a Vacation Bible School type program. Outdoor field game days help build relationships and provide fun activities for many of these abandoned children.

A discipleship program is also held with new believers in the local church and old adults, training them in Bible study and evangelism training. Those that have been in the discipleship program will help share with children during the field day activities and our athletic outreach program.

Afternoons are spent in many areas of the township where the local Knysna ministries have not been able to have entry to spread the Gospel. The team, along with those in the discipleship program, will go into new areas of the township and hold an athletic outreach program using soccer. During this time the team and disciplers have opportunities to share the Gospel to new areas of Knysna.

Team Leader | Chris Apostol | [email protected]

The opportunity to build relationships is the foundation which will lead to sharing Christ in Cape Town.

Physical needs in this area are great, but the need to know Christ and the hope He brings is even greater.

Swaziland, Africa

Swaziland, known as The Nation of Orphans, is one of the smallest countries in Africa. This small country

has the highest rate of HIV/AIDS in the entire world. Because of this, more than 150,000 children are orphaned and alone. These children are able to find refuge and food at a care point.

Warren currently sponsors two care points in this country. More than 400 children visit these care points daily where go-go’s (grandmothers) and native disciplers minister to their physical and spiritual needs. Mission teams from Warren visit Swaziland twice a year to help meet the needs of these children. The teams minister through Bible stories and teaching, as well as simply loving on them and sharing the love of Christ.

Warren works in conjunction with Children’s HopeChest to allow one to become a special friend (sponsor) to an orphan in Swaziland. This is a great way to become involved in this ministry and begin forming a relationship with a child. This sponsorship helps to provide food for the care point, as well as helping with the educational needs of the children. The commandment “to visit orphans and widows in their affliction” can truly be lived out in Swaziland.

You cannot visit this country and minister to ‘the least of these’ and come back home with all of your heart. It’s just not possible.

Operation Christmas ChildOperation Christmas Child is a

project of Samaritan’s Purse that collects gift-filled shoe boxes and delivers them in the name of Jesus Christ to children living in desperate situations around the world. Along with the shoe box, Christian literature is delivered in the child’s own language so children might come to know the true meaning of Christmas.

A follow-up discipleship program known as The Greatest Journey has been implemented in 74 countries. Through The Greatest Journey program, children are given the chance to enroll in a 12 lesson program that teaches them about Jesus, how to receive and follow Him, and equips them to share their faith with family and friends. Through this program, over 278,000 children have accepted Christ.

Warren GolfIn 2009, Dr. David McKinley, Senior

Pastor at Warren Baptist Church cast a vision of a golf outreach to the city of the most prestigious golf tournament in the world, The Masters®.

We believe we have been placed strategically in Augusta to help you get more out of golf and life.

Warren Golf Augusta was officially launched on March 18, 2012, with Dr. David Cook speaking to over 400 at a “Tee Off” dinner in Augusta.

Our desire is to help everyone, but specifically golfers to realize what their true calling is. We want to see them enjoy the game of golf and life from a different perspective. Many times we become so wrapped up in the score or the lack of performance or perfection that we lose sight of what life is all about. Is it the score or the experience that is most rewarding? We want to use the game of golf to reach golfers without the pressures of performance.

Warren Golf Augusta also has a partnership with Dr. David Cook and The Links of Utopia Ministries with the “The Johnny Project”.

Warren’s Impact AugustaEach year the Warren family sends hundreds out into the community to “Impact Augusta.” We believe service is in word and deed. We set aside a Saturday each spring to minister to local ministries and businesses by providing work projects in which you can be involved. Service projects include painting, small construction repairs, yard work and organizing food pantries, etc. We also reach out to those who may have never heard of Warren Baptist by offering acts of kindness such as free water bottles. Join us as we impact those around us with the hope we have in Christ.

Warren – awayoflife.TVWarren is pleased to offer a weekly broadcast on the local CBS affiliate, WRDW-TV News 12. This one-hour program, Warren-A Way of Life, airs every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and includes a message by Pastor McKinley. Warren’s ministries have already impacted thousands in our community with the gospel of Jesus Christ, but the partnership with WRDW-TV offers the potential of reaching more than 600,000 people on any given Sunday. We are praying this program will not only encourage listeners, but will also impact hearts with the transforming message of the gospel.
