SharePoint for Internal Communicators A business-focused course that explains the ‘why’ part of SharePoint.
Why have this workshop This one-day workshop will show you how to make SharePoint work to achieve your communication and collaboration goals, and we promise not to blind you with any technical jargon. By the end of the day you will:
• Feel confident that you know which parts of SharePoint you need • Know what decisions you should be leading • Be equipped to have constructive conversations with your IT teams.
What we cover We use a mix of interactive exercises, good practice examples from real-world intranets and unique reference material that you’ll be able to take back to your teams and immediately put into action. We can adapt the topics to fit your needs, but a typical agenda would be:
• A short introduction to SharePoint and Office 365 (if applicable) • How SharePoint can help internal communications • Using SharePoint and Yammer for your internal social media strategy • Helping teams and communities collaborate effectively • Strategies for governing and measuring SharePoint • A roadmap for SharePoint adoption and business value • A summary of “what to use when”
What you get The workshop preparation includes a one-hour consultation to understand your specific requirements for the day, the profiles of the participants and the current level of knowledge in the group. We then tailor the agenda from a range of training modules that we have prepared. Materials are provided electronically for internal use, and we’ll bring copies of worksheets for each participant.

Who should attend The workshop is designed for Internal Communicators and other SharePoint business stakeholders such as HR, Knowledge Management, Marketing and line of business site owners. We encourage teams to also invite their IT business partners to help build an understanding of each other’s perspectives.

About the trainer The workshops are run by Sam Marshall, the owner of ClearBox Consulting. He has specialised in intranets and the digital workplace for over 17 years, working with companies such as Unilever, AstraZeneca, AkzoNobel, BT, Diageo and GSK. Sam’s current activities focus on intranet and digital workplace strategy, the business side of SharePoint, and the use of social tools for collaboration and internal communication. Sam was responsible for Unilever’s Global Portal Implementation, overseeing the roll-out of over 700 online communities to 90,000 people and consolidating several thousand intranets into one. He is a regular speaker at international conferences. Sam has an MSc in Artificial Intelligence, an MA in Psychology and more bicycles than shoes.
