Our family took advantage of the down time and relaxed, ate too much turkey, and got our house decorated for Christmas. It is such a fun and busy time of year! Our PIE members have worked hard to bring some Christmas cheer to Sugar Grove this weekend with our Breakfast with Santa. The event is from 8:30-11:30 and includes crafts, breakfast, songs by our choir, and other festive activities. We are looking forward to a great day and hope to see many of you there! MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR SANTA What: Breakfast with Santa Date: Saturday, December 1 Time: 8:30am-11:30am Location: Sugar Grove cafeter ia **Santa photos from Pro-Tek Photography, $3-$5 **Breakfast buffet (50cents- $4) **Holiday vendors in the foyer for gift purchases **FREE holiday crafts and games for the kids in LGI **Upaint will be on site for ornament painting, $10.00 **Sugar Grove choir will sing holiday favorite tunes **holiday music cake walk To make this event a success, we are asking grades for donations: Pre-K & Kindergarten: Individually wrapped Snack Cakes-Brownies (“Little Debbie/Generic”) 1st Grade: Holiday Cookie Tins (Dollar Tree?) 2nd Grade: Toaster Treats or Pop Tarts 3rd Grade: Candy Canes 4th Grade: Individually wrapped peppermints (red, white or green) 5th Grade: Individually wrapped Holiday candy- not mints (Dollar Tree?) Please drop off the donation in the main office (basket provided) with the TEACHERS NAME! The

class with the most donations from each grade will get popcorn for a future popcorn party!

PROCEDURE TO REPORT A STUDENT ABSENCE– A parent/guardian is to call the school to report a school absence ON THE DAY OF THE ABSENCE. You may leave a VOICEMAIL message at 317-887-4707. Press 1, and answer the questions, pressing the # button after each response. Voicemail is available 24 hours a day to report an absence. Calls prior to 8:00 a.m. are encouraged and appreciated. If a call has not been received by 10:00 a.m. the day of each absence, a School Messenger reminder notification will be delivered by telephone. A call is needed EACH DAY a student is absent. Your child should remain home if they have diarrhea, vomiting or an elevated temperature of 100 or above. Students may return to school once they have been diarrhea free, vomiting free, or fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.

Sugar Grove Student Arrival/Dismissal Guidelines

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! We are excited for our students to return and get the school year underway. ARRIVAL *Drop off begins at 8:35am and school begins at 9:00am *You may either drop students off in the Door 15 Car Line (West Parking Lot), or Park in the front parking lot and walk your student into the building. Students will remain in the front lobby until the 8:45am bell. *If your child is late to school, you must sign them in at the office. DISMISSAL Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday dismissal is at 3:45pm Wednesday is Early Release and dismissal is at 3:00pm We would like to ask your assistance in helping us be sure that students are always being dismissed appropriately. If your child is doing something other than riding the school bus that is assigned to your home address, it is imperative that you notify the school office of the change at [email protected] and the teacher on the same email. All changes to regular routines need to be requested by 3:00pm Wednesdays by 2:15pm Dismissals that require a note or email: *Middle of day pick up in Office for appointments (please be sure to include the name of the individual who will be signing them out) *Unscheduled end of day pick up in Cafeteria (please be sure to include the name of the individual who will be signing them out) *Regular Parent pick up in Cafeteria, either everyday or on regularly scheduled days of the week (please stop by the office to sign up) *Going to Daycare (list daycare provider-this also includes Honey Grove) *Walking to Brentwood subdivision (must be everyday) *Riding a different bus due to childcare reasons, (requires permission from Transportation) (in your note list bus number and the address students are going to) Please note that everyone picking up students either from the Office during the day, or from the Cafeteria after

school, will be required to show a driver’s license every time they pick up.

*Door 15 Car Line Pick-Up is limited to students that are picked up EVERYDAY. Please stop by the office for more information or to sign up and receive a number for your car.

We appreciate your assistance in helping us get the students home safely.

RENT THE SGES YARD SIGN—For only $20 per day, you can wish your SGES student Happy Birthday! You can also wish their team or club Good Luck or Congratulations! A form is available in the office and on our school’s website to reserve the sign. It is first come, first serve. The form must be completed, accompanied with payment (cash or check made payable to Sugar Grove Elementary), and turned in to Mr. Mueller in the gym AT LEAST ONE DAY BEFORE YOU ARE WANTING THE SIGN RESERVED! THANKS!

BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR PARENT VOLUNTEERS—You are required to complete a background check in order to volunteer in the classrooms and go on field trips. ALL PRO DADS– All Pro Dads is a breakfast meeting held once a month before school where Fathers and their children meet with other dads and kids to enjoy a Chick-fil-A breakfast in the school cafeteria. At this gathering we discuss a wide range of family topics, spend time together, have fun, and equip each other with resources to strengthen our family relationships. Learn more at www.allprodad.com. Collect Box Tops for Education and Labels for Education. Follow the rules on each form C-L-O-S-E-L-Y. Please TRIM Box Tops before submitting and CHECK the EXPIRATION DATES.
