On-Product LabelsL A B E L G UI DE

While consumers are becoming increasingly concerned about the environmental

attributes o products, many marketers are struggling with the abundance o

on-product labels available or use and how to properly promote the sustainability

o their paper selections. At Sappi, our belie is that the oundation o environmental

claims and labeling rests on two pillars: they must be true and they must be

substantiated. Labels developed by credible third party certifcation programs,

such as those listed in this guide, oer assurance and transparency to marketers

who choose to use them.

Sappi’s fne paper mills are chain o custody certifed in accordance to FSC,®

SFI® and PEFC orest management programs. Many Sappi products are also

Green-e® certifed. Your printer is the last link in the chain and thereore must

also be certifed in order or you to use the FSC,® SFI,® PEFC or Green-e® labels.

Your printer will coordinate the submission o your print project or approval to

use the labels and will provide the high-resolution artwork to be used on the print

project. These certifcation programs oer many label ormat options, users

should consult the program rules or all ormats that are available.
