WEEKLY MIRACLE

This week marks the beginning of a kind of "liturgical detour." We have been listening to Saint Mark's Gospel during this liturgical year (Year B). Today we begin to hear a long section from John's Gospel, starting with the miracle of the multiplica-tion of the loaves and fishes. This miracle story is a prelude to the Lord's statements that we will begin hearing in a few weeks, in which Jesus refers to himself as the "bread of life." Each week we witness a miracle at Mass. We do not see a multiplication of loaves before us. What our eyes of faith allow us to see is the miracle of the transformation of common elements--bread and wine--into the Lord's Body and Blood. Once we have received the Lord, the multiplication begins, for in the Eucharist we are strengthened to multiply our efforts to feed the poor, shelter the homeless, and bring comfort to the despairing. MILAGRO SEMANAL

Esta semana señala el comienzo de una especie de "desvío litúrgico". Hemos estado escuchando el Evangelio según san Marcos durante este año litúr-gico (Ciclo B). Hoy comenzamos a escuchar una larga sección del Evangelio según san Juan que em-pieza con el milagro de la multiplicación de los pa-nes y peces. Este milagro es un preludio de las de-claraciones del Señor, que comenzaremos a escu-char en algunas semanas, en las que Jesús se llama a sí mismo el "Pan de Vida". Cada semana somos testi-gos de un milagro en la Misa. No vemos la multipli-cación de panes. Lo que vemos con los ojos de la fe es el milagro de la transformación de elementos co-munes, pan y vino, en el Cuerpo y la Sangre del Se-ñor. Una vez que hemos recibido al Señor, comien-za la multiplicación, porque en la Eucaristía se nos fortalece para multiplicar nuestros esfuerzos por alimentar a los pobres, darles refugio a los que no tienen hogar y brindarles consuelo a los afligidos. DID YOU KNOW? GENDER DIVIDES IN CHILDHOOD CAN PERPETUATE ABUSIVE BEHAVIORS

Parents of young children have likely heard the phrase “boys will be boys” many times — usually to excuse so-called “typical boy” behaviors. But this rationalization can extend dangerously through adulthood, to excuse sexual assault and harassment. The messages received by young children have lasting effects. Boys hear that they need to hide their emo-

tions, so if they are abused, they’re less likely to come forward. Girls hear that boys can be rough or rude, and learn to tolerate rather than push back. Eliminating this gender divide early may help combat sexual abuse and assault. NULIDADES MATRIMONIALES El Papa Francisco renovó el proceso canónico para las causas de declaración de Nulidad Matrimonial en el año 2015 y entró en vigor el 8 de Diciembre del mismo año en el Código de Derecho Canónico. La finalidad de la reforma es eminentemente Pastoral, e invita a los fieles a que se aproximen sin miedo a los tribunales de nuestra Iglesia, que ante todo, es Madre. Entre los beneficios de esta reforma canónica se encuentran plazos mas cortos dependiendo de cada caso en particular, y su coste. Hay muchas personas en la Iglesia separadas y divorciadas que se encuentran en situaciones irregulares y no las solucionan por ignorancia o, ingenuidad; e incluso bien su situación con un profundo dolor y angustia; quizás dudan acerca de la validez de su matrimonio, pero desconocen cual es el camino para averiguarlo y no han tenido la suerte de que nadie les ayude a conocerlo.
