• A community that is living stones, God's dwelling on and God's priesthood for earth, needs to be properly cared for (thus addressing elders) and properly functioning (thus members) to carry out its purposes on earth. One that is not shepherded or is fighting internally (cf. James 4) will not be offering the spiritual sacrifices pleasing to God (i.e. redemptive suffering).

world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal
