SMS-based bus ticket booking service launched by MakeMyTrip

MakeMyTrip has started a new SMS‐based bus ticket booking service. This service isIndia's first SMS‐based bus ticket booking service and will complement MakeMyTrip’s

online booking business. This new service from the company will enable entry‐level

mobile phone users to book bus tickets on more than 1,300 operators over 12,000

routes across the country.

A customer simply needs to SMS details regarding the destination, number of

passengers and date of travel on a designated number and MakeMyTrip responds

with the available choices of operators on that day and route. Users have to then

select the operator of choice and make payments using the IMPS (immediate payment

service) transaction route. Depending on the success of the bus booking business, the

company may even launch SMS booking service for other forms of transportation.

BharatMatrimony launches 'Online Matrimony Directory'

BharatMatrimony has launched a new service 'Online Matrimony Directory' which

has an exhaustive list of over 50,000 wedding vendors across 20 categories in India.

The new service is part of BharatMatrimony’s strategy to tap into the INR 960 bnmarriage market in India which is growing at a rate of 20% annually.

The 'Online Matrimony Directory’ will have a listing of essential services providers

ranging from wedding halls, catering, jewelers, videographers to honeymoon

packages. The directory has a database of over 50,000 vendors spread across 14 cities

and towns in the country and promises to help in finding local expertise and best

bargains in a particular locality.

Yatra offers discounts on last minute hotel deals Yatra.com is offering 40% discount on last minute hotel bookings across more than

10,000 hotels in India till 31 Jul, 2013. The offer is open on bookings made either onthe day of check‐in or on the previous day. The offer is targeted at business travellers,

who generally book at the last minute, or impulsive leisure travellers looking for a

weekend getaway, as well as for travellers who haven’t yet been able to make up their

minds as to where to travel this season.




Tradeindia.com starts GetDistributors.com

Tradeindia.com, India's largest B2B marketplace with more than 2.4 mn registered

users has launched a new website Getdistributors.com. The new website is a search

based online platform which will be useful for companies and individuals who arelooking to appoint or become distributors, franchisees or sales agents in India and

abroad. The website has been designed in a way to make it user friendly with

categories such as "I am looking for Distributors/Sales Agents" and "I want to become

a Distributor/Sales Agent", etc. being neatly arranged across various industry

verticals. A company or an individual can register itself as a distributor, franchisee or

sales agent by simply filling an online form free of cost.

The website was planned keeping in mind the large number of international

businesses operating in India that wish to make Indian companies and individuals

their distributors, franchisees and sales agents. The main industry verticals being

catered to by this website include agriculture, apparel & fashion, automobile,chemicals, consumer electronics, hospital & medical supplies, pipes, tubes & fittings,

and scientific & laboratory instruments.

Travelguru.com launches new and improved extranet API

Leading online hotel network Travelguru.com has launched a new Extranet API for

hotel partners and channel managers for exchanging hotel rates and inventory. The

new product named TGConnect will help in saving time as well as reduce the errors

and efforts in updating the extranet manually. The new API will facilitate automated

electronic updates of bookings, rates and availability. With this launch,

Travelguru.com has become the first online travel website in India to introduce a free

of charge technologically‐advanced API for hotel partners, system providers, channelmanagers and other users.

An important advantage that the new API provides to its users is updates of rates and

inventory, which will reduce the need to manage Extranet manually. It provides a

better control on products and services thereby enhancing product visibility by

offering real‐time updates. In its first phase of integration, about 1,000 hotels will be

using this API.

Expansion Plans Wyndham Hotel Group signs franchisee agreement for Bangalore property

The largest hotel company in the world with over 7,380 hotels, Wyndham Hotel

Group has signed a franchise agreement for the Wyndham Grand Bangalore

Yelahanka which is set to be operational in 2020 and will mark a brand extension for




the company in the city. The 180 room hotel is part of the Wyndham Group’s

ambitious expansion plan of developing as many as 70 hotels and increasing the

inventory to 8,000 rooms in India in the next five years. At present it has 17

operational properties with a total room inventory of 1,800 in the country.

The Wyndham hotel in Bangalore will be situated in Sammy’s Grand Palace, a 75‐acre

exclusive residential project in Bangalore being developed by city based Sammy’s

Dreamland Co., Pvt. Ltd. The hotel will have 180 guest rooms including 30 suites, four

restaurants and a wide range of amenities which will include an outdoor pool and spa.

In addition, the property will include two conference and banquet halls.
