This Department is now inviting applications for the Fifth Batch of J- PAL'S MITx Micro-Master Programme in DEDP starting on 8th September, 2020. All the details regarding MIIx Micro-Masters programme regarding cligibilitv, registration process, pa\ ments antl rembul>ements etc ar iven below.

The last date for receiving online applications for the Fall 2020 batch (starting from September 8, 2020) is 5th Septenmber, 2020. The last date for making payment is

It may be noted that in the Spring 2021 batch, only 3 courses (lData Analysis for

Social Scientists, Designing and Running Randomized Evaluations, The Challenges of Global Poverty) will be offered. Similarly in the Summer 2021 batch, 3 courses

the calendar year of their joining of service in their respective cadres.

Tor Registration, log on to https //1got.mc.in. Then cick on 'Approved Courses', After selecting a course, click on the link "Registcr Here" below the name of that course. It will lead to J-PAL"s website {1-PAL/MIIx MicroMasters in Data, Fconomics, and Development Policy for Government of lndia Officials) Follow all the steps for Registration given under 'How To Apply' on J-PAL's Website.

After registration on edX and Micro0-Masters in the DEDP portal, it 1S mandatorv to till the J-PAL GOogle Form as explained and the link prorided on J-PAL's website. It mav be notd that tlhere are separate Google forms ior the of ticers who are

pplyng ior the irst time and who have already registered carlier. n the torm, candidates are required to select the course that thev want to enrol for in the current batch. Bascd on their selection, thev will receive the coupon code tor that specific Course only. After completion of the CGoogle Fornm, a confirmation from J-PAT will be received through e-mail in due course. Thereatter. J-PAL will prov ide coupon code(s) tor the discounted price oi USs 100 per course per otficer. This coupon code il be 1sSued a few weeks atter submission of application form and prior to the paj ment deadline of October 9, 2020.

75 The last date for applying is September 5, 2020 by 11:59 PM 1ST. It will not be possible tor J-PAL to issue coupon codes or consider ànv changes in course sclection

after the 5:th September deadline.

Course Completion, Payment, and Reimbursement

6. Aiter completing the step's above, the candidates are required to start the course

on September 8, 2020 and complete it by November 24, 2020.

82 The candidates will receive d COurse-specitic discountet coupon code, whicl Will enable the candidates to pav tor the course at a discounted price of $TO0 USD. The

said coupon code will be sharecd by J-PAL. with the candidates betore the payment deadline, along with instructions on how to apply it through the Micro-Masters protile. The candidates arc requircd to apply the coupon code and make payment before the

payment deadline of October 9, 2020 in order to enroll on the full NMicro-Masters track

and earn a course certiticate. It is not necossary to m.ake the pavment pror to startins the cour'se on Seplember 8, 2020

8.3 The candidates may receive an e-mail trom MIT requesting tor tinancial

documents/ income statement. Please note that as an applicant through the DoPT

Partnership, candidates are not requirel to send MII these documents or indicate the

income status anywhere on the Micro-Masters portal.

84 Tn order to earn a Micro-Masters cUTSC certiticate, the candidates will be required to (1) attain passing graies in the online component of the course (delivered on

oX) and (ii) pass an online proctored eram. The candidates who successfully earn

this course certificate will then be reimbursed the course fee of $100 USD by D/o Personnel & Training

8.5 After successful completion of course, the candidates should intimate Section Otticer (iGO). Training Division. Department of Personnel & lraning, Old JNUampus, New TDelhi at email id - soigot-ulopt itgo in alongwith details ot pavment made, course completed and copy (ot Certificate. DoPT will get the details verified trom

the Cadre Controlling Authority concerned and the course fee paid by the canlidates will be reimbursed to them diructlv.

What is the MITx MicroMasters credential in Data, Economics, and Public

Policy?

MIT's Department of Economics and the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Iab

J-PAL) designed the MicroMasters® program credential in Data, Economics, and

Development Policy (DEDP) to equip learners with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge to tackle some of the nost pressing challenges tacing developing countries

and the world' poor. To earn the DEDP MicroMasters program credential, learners

complete three core courses (Mic roeconomics, Data Analysis for Social Scientists, and

Designing and Running Randomized Fvaluations) and two of three electives (The

Challenges of Global Povertv, Foundations of Development Policy, and Political

Economv and Economic Development) online and pass their corresponding in-person

exams. Learners who reccive the MicroMasters program credential will then be eligible

to apply to MIl's Blended Master's program in Data, Economics, and Development

Poliey Ir accepted, students will earn MIT creit tor the MicroMasters program courses,

and will be able to pursue an accelerated on-campus Master's degree at MIT

Why should I enroll?

The basic objective of the MITx MicroMasters program is to equip officials with

the practical skills and theoretical kinowledge to tackle som: of the most pressing

challenges facing developing countries and the world's poor. The progranm is crucial to

familiarize policymakers and practitioners in the CGovernment with identitying and

analyzing the root causes of underdevelopment using principles of economics. The

courses under M1Tx MicroMasters program are useful in interpreting the tindings of

empirical research that evaluates the ettectivenesS ot ant-poverty strategies, policies

and interventions. t also prOVides practical knowlcuge on how to design and

implement rigorous randomized evaluations and other econometric methods ot

evaluating policies and programs. The program is intendel to help ofticials build a set

of tools and skills required tor data analysis in the soCial sciences, understand the

problems tacing the world's poor, and learn how to design and evaluate sOCial policies

that strive to solve them. Through these courss government otticials will be ejuipped

with the tools of comparative cost-etfectiveness analy sis which will prove highly

3. How do l pay for these courses and how will I be reimbursed?

4 When should I start the course? Do I need to make the payment befopre

beginning the course?

but please be sure to make the payment bctore the pavment deadline.

What is the expected time commitment per week?

Each Week, each indiVidual course rcleases a lecture, broken nto a series Of min1 Ideos, With finger exercises and honnework assignnments that correspond with the

material. This usually takes approximately 10-12 hours per eek, but may vary

depending on the individual learner.

6. How many MicroMasters courses can I register for at once?

Given the time commitment that cach cOurse requires, we strongy encourage VOu to register for only one course in a given term.

What are the passing criteria for each of the MicroMasters classes?

To pass a MicroMasters course, students need to attain passing grades both in

the online component of the course (tdelivered on edX) and the proctored exam. The

pecitic grade cul-offs for the online component of each class are detailed in the relevant

Course svllabi on edX. Note that only students who attain a passing grale in the online

component will be authorizwd to registor tor the proctored enam.

MicroMasters course grade will be calculated as follows:

8. If I fail or unenroll the online course, can I take it again?

Yes! By completing vour personalized course payment. you are eligible to take

. If T fail the proctored exam, can I take it again to try and get a better score?
