I NTRODUCT ION

Ourcommunitiesofresidentsarerequiredtoobligebythispolicyandproceduresmanualdevelopedforthepurposesofprimarilynumberone,stayingcleanfromanyandallmindandmoodalteringsubstances,twotobuildanddevelopself-confidence,threetolearnhowtobuildandmaintainpersonalandinter-personalskillsandrelationships,fourtoacquirestableemploymentand/orschoolingnecessarytoenrichtheirlivesandreturntobeinganactivememberofsociety.

Thepoliciesandproceduresareenforcedpeer-to-peerandbythehousemanagerandothermanagementstaffwiththegoalofproducingasafeandsoberlivingenvironment,itisdonebyencouragingasafeandsupportivegroupatmosphereofsociallivingandZEROTOLERANCEpolicyfornon-compliancewithcommunityrules.

Meetingsontheproperty/offaresupportedandencouraged,peergroupmeetings,weeklycommunitymeetings,12-StepMeetings,periodicreviewsoftheFOUR(4)STAGEEMPOWERMENTPROCESSareperformedandpersonalcasemanagementarereviewed,anduponrequestcareerandfinancialcounselingareavailable.

ThehouseprovidesforallBedLinensandTowels,CableTV,LandLinePhoneandInternetAccess.

ServicesbeginswhentheapplicantmeetswiththeProgramDirectorandallthenecessaryformsandagreementsaresigned,thisincludessigningconsentforms,establishingshortandlong-termrealisticgoals,developingapersonalizedplanofrecoveryandundergoingtheorientationprocess.

RES IDENT EXPECTAT IONS & REQU IREMENTS

Residentsareexpectedtoabstainfromalldrugsandalcoholandtoexhibitagreatdegreeofwillingnesstochangetheirpreviouslifestyleandlearnhealthierwaysoflivingandenjoyinglife.

Residentsareexpectedtoabidebyallrulesandtoparticipateintheirpersonalrecoveryplansandbecomepartofthegroupdynamicsandfacilityandtoalsotogetinvolvedintheircommunitybyattendingpeergroupmeetings,housemeetingsand12steprecoverymeetingsasoutlinedinthepolicyandproceduresmanual.

Residentsmustbewillingtoengageinconversationabouttheirbehaviorandtheirrecoverytodiscovernewandmoreeffectivewaysofdealingwithrecoveryrelatedbehavioralissues.

Residentsmustwewillingtoacceptresponsibilityandaccountabilityfortasksandchoresassignedbythehouserulesandthehousemanagerandtoactivelyworktowardsachievingpersonalshortandlong-termrealisticgoalsasdiscussedwiththeProgramDirector.

Residentsmustbewillingtodisplayanattitudeofhonesty,open-mindednessandwillingnesstoliveinthesoberhoselivingenvironmentandmustalwaysberespectfulofotherswhilehandlingtheiraffairs.

Residentsmustbewillingtoallow“SRL”theabilitytosearchatanytimeanyandalloftheresidentspersonalitems;includingvehiclesthatareontheproperty,asaresidentIunderstandthat“SRL”hastherightconductsuchsearch.

PR IMARY FUNDAMENTAL RULES

IunderstandandagreethatanyresidentwhodoesnotfollowanyofthePrimaryFundamentalRulesorencouragesorallowsanyotherresidenttodisregardorbreakanyoftheserulesanddoesnotbringthematterimmediatelytotheattentionoftheHouseManagerand/ortheProgramDirectorcanandwillresultinthatresidentsterminationwithoutanyfurtheractionsandtheresidentwillforfeitanyrefundsfordepositsorrent.

IunderstandandagreethatasaresidentIwillremainfreefromengaginginsubstanceabuse,manufacturing,distribution,sales,holding,passingorusinganymoodalteringdrugsincludingalcoholandmustimmediatelyreportanyincidentofanyresidentthatisinvolvedinanyoftheseactivitiesmentionedtotheHouseManagerand/ortheProgramDirector.

Iunderstandandagreethatanyresidentthoughttobeinpossessionorundertheinfluenceofmind-alteringsubstancessuchasalcohol,drugs,ornon-prescribedmedicationwillberequiredtogobeforeapeerreviewgroupforjudgmentandsanctions.Ifthebehaviorpersiststheresidentinvolvedwillbesubjecttoterminationwithoutanyfurtheractionsandtheresidentwillforfeitanyrefundsfordepositsorrent.

IunderstandandagreethatasaresidentIwillnotparticipateinanygambling,onlineorotherwise,pari-mutuelbetting,possessionoforuseofanyweaponsorfirearms,knives,bullets,martialartsequipment,clubs;oranythingelsethatcanbeconstruedasaweapon.

IunderstandandagreethatasaresidentIwillnotparticipateinanyillegalactivity,aidingandabettingofacrime,orbeinvolvedinanysituationswithlawenforcement.Stealinganythingfromthefacilityorfromanyothermember/residentiscrimeandwillnotbetolerated.

IunderstandandagreethatasaresidentIwillnotengageinanyactsofviolencephysicalorverbal,threats,intimidation,bullying,abuse,racialslurs,

sexualmisconduct,religiousorethnicjokes,orthecontrollingofotherresidentmembersandIwillconductmyselfwithmutualrespecttowardsothermembersandresidentsofthecommunityincludingthehousemanager,anystaff,workers,programdirectorand/ormanagingstaff.

IunderstandandagreethatasaresidentIwillnotengageinanysexualactivityorbehaviorsonsiteoronoraroundtheproperty.AbsolutelyNoOvernightGuestsorSexualActivityofanykindisallowedinoraroundthepremises,andthisincludesthewatchingofPornographyonaphoneortablet.

IunderstandandagreethatasaresidentIwillberequiredtoparticipateinrandomdrugandalcoholscreeningandtestingandthatsuchtestresultscanaffecttheprobationstatusofaresident.Iunderstandandagreethatfailureofaresidenttoparticipateinadrugand/oralcoholscreeningandtestingwillresultintheimmediateterminationofsaidresidentwithoutanypeerreviewprocessandthatresidentwillterminatedwithoutanyfurtheractionsandtheresidentwillforfeitanyrefundsfordepositsorrent.

Iunderstandandagreethatpositiveurineorbreathalyzerscreeningmayaffecttheprobationstatusofaresidentandifanyresidentstestresultsevershowaspositivethatresidentwillberequiredtogobeforeapeerreviewgroupforjudgmentandsanctionsandtheresidentwillalsoberequiredtomeetwiththehousemanagerandprogramdirectorbeforecontinuingresidency/occupancyandbesubjecttomorefrequentscreening.Ifthebehaviorpersiststheresidentinvolvedwillbesubjecttoterminationwithoutanyfurtheractionsandtheresidentwillforfeitanyrefundsfordepositsorrent.

IunderstandandagreethatanyresidentwhodoesnotshowuponanygivennightwillberequiredtogobeforeapeerreviewgroupforjudgmentandsanctionsandmustattendameetingwiththeProgramDirectorandHouseManagerandundergodrugandalcoholscreeningbeforebeingallowedtoreturntotheresidence.Ifthebehaviorpersiststheresidentinvolvedwillbesubjecttoterminationwithoutanyfurtheractionsandtheresidentwillforfeitanyrefundsfordepositsorrent.

IunderstandandagreethatasaresidentIwillmaintainmymembershipingoodstandingsatalltimesbypayingmyduesontimeandremainingcurrent,

byfollowingtherulesstipulatedintheresidenthandbookatalltimes,andbybeingagoodcitizenofthecommunityandreportinganyincidentsofmisconducttothehousemanagerorprogramdirector.

PERSONAL GROWTH RULE S

IunderstandandagreeasaresidenttoengagemyselfintheFour(4)StageSelfEmpowermentProcessoftheresidenceandparticipateonallaspectoftheprogramwithanopenmindandwillingness.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidenttoattendhousemeetingsregularlyandtoparticipateinopendiscussionswiththegroup,peer-to-peerdiscussions,andthehousemanagermeetingwithawillingattitude.Thehousemeetingsheldweeklyaremandatory.

IunderstandandagreeasaresidenttobeonthepropertybythedesignatedcurfewtimesdeterminedintheFour(4)StageSelfEmpowermentProcess,unlesstheProgramDirectororManagementStaffhasapprovedotherwise.

IunderstandandagreeasaresidentthatnoonewillbeadmittedaftercurfewwithoutapprovalfromtheProgramDirectorandThedoorswillbelockedat11:00pm.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidentnottoborrowanyitems,tools,money,oranythingelsefromanyotherresidentofthefacility,askingfororborrowinganythingincludingcigarettesisstrictlydiscouraged.

IunderstandandagreeasaresidentthattheProgramDirectormustapproveallvisitorsofanyresidenttothefacilityandthatnochildrenareallowedonthepropertygroundsunlessapprovedbytheProgramDirectorfirst.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidenttotreatanypropertyofthefacilitythatisdesignatedascommunitypropertysuchasbooks,cookingandkitchenutensils,furnitureandotherthingswithcareandrespectandistosharewithkindness,andtorespectthepropertyandpersonalbelongingsofothers.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidenttotreatotherresidentsofthefacility,staffandothermembersofthecommunitywithrespectatalltimesandtorespecttheanonymityofotherresidents,noinformationistobegivenouttoanyoneaboutanyotherresidentofthefacility(i.e.phonenumbers),youcantakeaphonenumberandhavetheresidentofthefacilitycallback(takeinfo.don’tgiveitout).Nocamerasorvideotapingorrecordingofanykindisallowedinthefacility.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidenttomaintainmypersonalhygieneonadailybasisandtomaintainaproperdresscodeatalltimes,asaresidentofthefacilitywomenwillnotdressinrevealingoutfitsand/orcutoffsandmenwillwearashirtatalltimeswhileinthepublicareasofthefacility.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidentnottoenteranotherresident’sroomwithoutpermissionfirst,frombothpeoplewhoresideinthatroom,foracoedfacility,womenandmenarerestrictedandprohibitedfromenteringtheroomsoftheoppositesex.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidenttokeeppeaceandharmonywiththeneighborsinthesurroundingareaandneighborhood,tokeepandabidebythespeedlimitsinthecommunityandtoprovidemutualrespectforalltheneighborsinthecommunity.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidentnottobreakordestroyanyhouseproperty,whichincludesthepropertythatbelongstotheresidence/facilityandthethingsandpropertyofothers.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidentnottousethestaffoffice,theStaffOfficeisreservedformanagementuseonlyandnoresidentisallowedintheStaffOfficewithouttheHouseManagerorDirectorpresent.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidentthatallresidentsareexpectedtoprovidetheirownfinancialresourcesforfood,toiletries,andpersonalhygieneitems.“SRL”willonlyprovidetoiletpaperandgeneralcleaningsupplies.Eatingorborrowingotherresidents’goodsisstrictlyprohibited.

HOUSE RULES

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidentthatthereistobenosmokingatanytimeinsidetheresidencethatthisisasmokefreefacilityanddesignatedsmokingareasareproperlymarkedoutsidethefacilityinthefrontofthebuildingoutside.IwillalwaysuseashtraysandIwillalwaysmakesurecigarettesareproperlyextinguishedbeforethrowingthemawayintheashtrays;Iwillnotthrowcigarettebuttsoutsideandonlydisposeofthemintheashtraysprovided.Ashtrayswillbeemptiedregularlybythepartieswhosmoke.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidenttokeepmypersonalareaneatandcleanandmakemybedeverymorningbeforeleavingmyroom;Iwillkeepthecommonarealivingspacesfreeofanyclutteranddirtyclothes.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidenttoparticipateinthechoresassignedatthehousemeetinginkeepingthecommonareascleaned,thecommonareasincludethekitchen,anddiningarea,thelivingareas,thelanaiintheback,andthebathroomsandgarageandtheyaretobekeptneatandcleanatalltimes,therewillbechoresandtasksassignedonarotatingbasistoeveryoneatyourhousemeetingandeveryoneisexpectedtoparticipate.Thetaskswillconsistofdusting,sweepingandmoppingthecommonareas,cleaningthebathroomsandshowers,takingoutthetrashandputtingthetrashoutbythecurbongarbagedaysandcleaningtherefrigeratoroutonceamonth.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidenttokeepthekitchenareacleanatalltimes,onceIuseitIwillcleanittheminuteIamdoneandputthingsbackintheirproperplaceswhenfinished,IunderstandthatrefrigeratorspacewillbeassignedtoeachpersonandIagreenottotakeandconsumeanythingthatisnotmineand/orIdidnotpurchaseandIwillrespectotherspersonalfood.Iunderstandthatthekitchenareaisaccessible24/7withfoodanddiningtobekeptinthegeneralkitchenanddiningarea.(NOFOODORDRINKWILLBEALLOWEDINTHEBEDROOMS).Individuallabelswillbeprovidedforpersonalfooditems,anyitemswithoutalabelwillbeavailabletoallresidents.Therefrigeratorwillbecleanedonceamonthasassignedatyourhousemeetingandanyfoodthatisexpiredorproducingafoulsmellwillbedisposedofperiodicallyandthrownaway.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidentthatafter11:00pmitisimportanttorespectthepeaceandprivacyofalltheotherresidentssharingthefacility.Everyresidentisentitledtoenjoyapeacefulnightsrestandthatstartseverynightat11:00pmsonoiseinthecommonareaswillbekepttoaminimumandthetelevisioninthecommonareaisalsotobekeptatlowvolumes.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidentthatyoushareyourroomwitharoommateandthatyourroommateisentitledtoenjoyquiettimeandenjoyapeacefulandrestfulnight’ssleep.11:00pmisthecutofftimefortelevisionsand/ormusic,computersandcellphonesinsideyourroom.10:00amto11:00pmarethehoursforthenonoiseruleintherooms.AsaresidentImustusecommoncourtesyandrespectforeveryoneinthecommunityofthefacility.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidentthatlaundrywillbeperformedatthepostedtimesasdesignatedatyourhousemeeting,eachresidentwillhaveaspecifiedtimethattheycandotheirlaundryin,asaresidentyoumustrespectthisandnotusethelaundryroomotherthanthetimesthataredesignatedforyouruse.Thereistobenolaundryleftinthewasheranddryer,eachresidentmustcompletetheirlaundryintheirdesignatedtimes,andnoresidentisallowedtobringinlaundryoranyoneelse’slaundrytodoatthefacilitywhoisnotaresidentofthefacility.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidenttorespecteveryoneelse’sbelongingssuchaslaptops,computers,telephones,tablets,articlesofclothing,personalhygieneitems,etc,remembertheruleisnevertoask,onlyacceptifit’soffered.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidenttomakesurethedoorsarelockedandallthelightsareturnedoffifnotinuse.Thelightsoutsideinthefrontshouldbeturnedoffafter11:00pm.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidenttokeepmypersonalitemssuchashygiene,bathroomitemsandtowelsinmybedroomatalltimesexceptwhenused,thebathroomsarecommonareasandshouldbekeptfreefromanyandallpersonalitemsatalltimes.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidentthatthehousetelephoneisprimarilyusedonlyforcommunicationandcontactwithemployersandsponsors;I

agreetokeepmyphonecallsdownto15minutesatanyonetimeandIwillnotmakeorreceivephonecallsafter11:00pm.EXCEPTINCASESOFEMERGENCY.Iagreetouseproperphoneetiquetteandpolitenessandtowritemessagesdowninthemessagebookwhileansweringthephone,andnotgiveoutanypersonalinformationouttoanyoneaboutanyoftheotherresidents,buttotakeaphonenumberandmessage.

Iunderstandandagreeasaresidentnottousethegaragethatisacommonareaforpersonalstorageorparking,parkingistobedoneoutsideonthedrivewayandonthefrontoftheresidence.Ifyouarearesidentthatownsamotorizedscooterorbicycle,parkingofthesevehicleswillbetheonlyonesallowedinsidethegarageareaandmustbeclearedbyandapprovedbythehousemanagerorprogramdirectorfirst.

IunderstandandagreeasaresidentthatifIamyetnotworkingnottobeintheresidence/housefromthehoursof8:00amto4:00pm,thatIshouldbeusingthosehourstofindandlookforajobortoattendmeetingsortherapy.

IunderstandandagreeasaresidentthatIamNOTtousethefacility/residenceasahangouttoinvitefriendsoverorloiterattheresidence/facility,theresident’ssignificantotherand/orfriend(s)willnotbewelcomedtospendendlesshoursattheresidency,visitationhourswillbediscussedandagreeduponatyourHouseMeeting.Residentsshouldlimitthetimeafriendisoverbeingthattheresidence/facilityissharedwithmanyothers.

IunderstandandagreeasaresidentifIresideatoneoftheresidencesmentionedabovethatifmyclothingisinappropriateatthediscretionoftheHouseManagerand/orDirector,Imaybeaskedtochange.

IunderstandandagreeasaresidentifIresideatoneoftheresidencesmentionedabovethatthebedroomsformenandthebedroomsforwomenareproperlylabeledassuch,themenwiththemenandthewomenwiththewomen,no-oneisallowedtoenterabedroomthathasbeenassignedtotheoppositesex,themenhavebeenassignedtothethreebedroomsinfront,whilethewomenareassignedthetwobedroomsintheback.

IunderstandandagreeasaresidentifIresideatoneoftheresidencesmentionedabovethatthebathroomsatsomeofthesefacilitiesmaybeassignedasco-edbathroomsandtheruleis,ifthedoorisclosed,thatbathroomisconsideredoccupied,sodon’tbotherknocking.

TheFour(4)StageSelfEmpowermentProcesswasdevelopedbyotherrecoverylivingfacilityManagingDirectorsandmembersofF.A.R.R.,FloridaAssociationofRecoveryResidenciesandN.A.R.R.theNationalAllianceofRecoveryResidencesinanefforttohelpitsmembersmakethetransitionintobecomingproductivemembersofoursociety.

ItdoesthisbyEstablishingStructureandEmpoweringitsmemberstoMaintainCommitmentsbyseeking,solicitingandpetitioningResponsibilityandmonitoringAccountabilityofitsmembers.

StageOne(1)startswithyoutheresidentmakingacommitmenttostaycleanfromallmoodandmindalteringsubstancesandcommittingtomaking90meetingsinthenext90dayswiththe12-StepFellowshipofyourchoice.Therearemany12-StepFellowshipstochoosefrom,wedon’tendorseanyspecificfellowshipbutourmembersusuallyparticipateinoneofthefewmentionedhere,thereisN.A.NarcoticsAnonymous,A.A.AlcoholicAnonymous,C.A.CocaineAnonymous,C.R.CelebrateRecovery,S.R.SmartRecovery,etc,justtonameafew.Thehousemanagerandtheprogramdirectorhaveadditionalinformationtoallthese12-Stepfellowshipsandcanguideyouintherightdirectioninchoosingone.Thereisalsoliteratureinthebookshelf/libraryofthefacilitiesthatareavailableforthetaking,exceptthebooks,thebooksstaywithinthefacilityandaresharedbyeveryone.

Inordertocomplete30-meetingin30-daysyoumustattendonemeetingeachday,attendingtwomeetinginonedayandthennotattendingameetingthefollowingdaydoesnotcount.

Asamemberofthefacilityyouwillalsobeaskedandrequiredtogetasponsorandtocallhim/hereverydayandtogetphonenumbersfromotherrecoveringaddictsfromthe12-Stepfellowshipprogramthatyouchooseandcallthosenumbersregularlyandstartbuildingyoursupportteam.

Ifyoufeelthisisyourtimeandyoureallywanttostaycleanaboveallelsenomatterwhat,thanthisistheplantodoso.Ifyoufollowyourpersonalrecoveryplanandtheguidanceofyourprogramdirector,yoursponsor,thehousemanager,yourotherpeersinrecoveryandyoudotheworkoutlinedin

IasaresidentAGREETOcomplete30meetingsin30days.Thatisonemeetingormoreperdaysignedonyourmeetingverificationsheet.Twomeetingsonedayandnonethenextdaydoesnotconstitutecompletionofa30meetingin30daysprogram,youmustattendaminimumofatleastonemeetingeachdaywithinthefirst30dayswiththe12-StepFellowshipofyourchoice.Thisisthebeginningofyour90in90commitment.

IasaresidentAGREETOattainaSponsoratthe12-StepFellowshipofyourchoicewith-inthefirst14-days,thiscanbeatemporarysponsorandthesooneryougetstartedwiththisthebetteroffyou’llbe.

IasaresidentAGREETOcallyourSponsoratleastonceaday,preferablytwice,onceinthemorningandonceintheevening,thiscanalsobeatemporarysponsoruntilyoufindapermanentpersonyouaremostcomfortablewith.

Iasaresidentherebyunderstandandagreethatinorderfor“SRLtoreleaseanyhealthinformationaboutmyselfandmyconditionthatImustfirstsignandexecuteaHIPPAPrivacyandAuthorizationformauthorizingustodiscloseyourprotectedhealthinformationaccordingtothefollowingrule.

HIPAA–FEDERALPRIVACYACT.Thereisafederallaw,calledtheHealthInsurancePortabilityandAccountabilityActof1996(HIPAA),thatsetsrulesforhealthcareprovidersandhealthplansaboutwhocanlookatandreceiveyourhealthinformation,includingthoseclosesttoyou–yourfamilymembersandfriends.TheHIPAAPrivacyRuleensuresthatyouhaverightsoveryourhealthinformation,includingtherighttogetyourinformation,makesureit’scorrect,andknowwhohasseenit.

Iasamemberandresidentherebyunderstandandagreethatunsuccessfulterminationfromthisprogrammayconstituteaviolationofprobationandwillbereportedtothejudicialauthorityasdeemnecessaryandappropriate.

AllresidentshavetherighttobeincludedandtakepartintheresolutionofdisputesasstatedintheGrievanceandDisputePolicyandProceduresbelow.ProblemresolutionandproblemsolvingispartofthefocusofcultivatingInterpersonalSkillsrelatedtoaresidentsdissatisfactionorproblemarisingasaresultofaresidentbeingdissatisfiedwithanotherresident,thegroupasawhole,thehousemanager,theprogramdirector,oranyotherconditionrelatedtotheresidentslivingarrangementsthatmayarise.

Therearestepstofollowinthe“SRL”residencetoresolveyourgrievanceorcomplaintthatiffollowedproperlycanaidandassistinresolvingtheresidentsgrievanceorcomplainttotheresidentssatisfaction,thesearetoolsthataresidentcanusenotonlyasaresidentin“SRL”butalsointherealworldwithproblemsthatmayariseinjobs,livingarrangement,familymembers,friends,andothergroupsorassociationsasawhole.

Thereisalwaysaprotocoloranescalationprocessthatshouldbefollowedwhenescalatingaproblemorasituationthatapersonmaybefacedwith.Itisalwaysagoodideatofollowthatprotocolandtoproperlydocumentanyfacts,occurrencesofviolation,repeatedsituations,circumstances,status,theperson’spositionandhowthepersonfeels,andthedate,timeandplaceofsuchoccurrence.

Thegrievanceprocedureshallapplytoanyresidentwhohasacomplaintordissatisfactionarisingoutofunmetexpectations,assumptions,interpretation,applicationorclaimofaviolationofany“SRL”PolicyandProceduresdefinedorrecitedintheResidentsHandbook,oranyotherviolationsuchassexualharassment,legalorethicalmisconduct,conditionsofresidency,orconflictwithanyresident,groupofresidents,staff,housemanagerorprogramdirector.

Problemsolvingbetweenresidentswhoareexperiencingaproblemwithanotherresidentoragroupofresidents,orthehousemanager,orwhofeeltheyarebeingtreatedunfairlybyastaffpersonorhousemanager,shouldbeginthegrievanceprocedurewithamediatedverbalexchange.

STEPTWO–GRIEVANCEPROCESS

Ifthematterisnotresolvedatthisfirstmeeting,TheSecondStepoftheGrievanceProcessisfortheresidentfilingthegrievancetoputthediscussedgrievanceinwritingusingthe“WritingInstructionsforGrievance”foundbelowandgiventotheon-sitehousemanagertobediscussedatthenextscheduledhousemeeting.

AnyproblemswithaviolationofPolicyandProcedures,harassment,legalorethicalmisconduct,conditionsofresidencyoranyothermattersnotassociatedwithagrievanceagainstanotherresidentorgroupofresidentsshouldbebroughtuptothehousemanagerorstaffattentionfirstandshallbefollowedbytheresidentinitiatingthecomplaintputtingthegrievanceinwritingusingthe“WritingInstructionsforGrievance”foundbelowandgiventotheon-sitehousemanagerandtheProgramDirector.

CAREERCOUNSELING

CareerCounselingwillbesimilarlyprovidedtoanyresident/memberwhoqualifiesandwhorequestshis/heroneononeinterviewsessionduringtheStateFour(4)Process.Topicstobediscussedare;Goingbacktoschool,collegeorvocationalschool,financialaidandhowtoapplyforit,thebenefitsofaplacementorcareeraptitudetestandpersonalitytestingandwheretogettested,howtogoaboutapplyingandregisteringforcoursesatyourlocalcommunitycollegeortradeschool,andanyothertopicthatthecandidatemayneedassistancewith.

CASE MANAGEMENT & REFERRALS

“LIFT”isanon-profitorganizationthatwillassistresidentsgetintoregularhousingbyassistingtheresidentwiththeirSecurityDeposit,FirstandLastmonthsRent.

Toqualifyfor“LIFT”members/residentsmusthaveresidedat“SRL”foraminimumofsixmonthsandgraduatedandcompletedtheprogram,haveazerobalancedue,andmusthavetwoweekspaidinadvanceinordertohavetheirapplicationsubmitted,alongwiththeirtwoweeknoticeoftermination.

Assistanceandhelpwillbeprovidedbasedontheresidents’needs;assistancewillbeprovidediftheresidentneedsassistanceapplyingforfoodstampsiftheresidentqualifies,applyingforjobsandwithjobapplications,andinsomecasesinitialtransportation.

SRL BUTTERFLY

Thebutterflyisafascinatingcreature.Itistrulyaworkofart:beautifulcolorsanddelicacy,flyinghighandwideongossamerwings…free.

Butthebutterflydidn’tbeginitslifeinsuchaloftystate.Initsearlieststagesitwasacaterpillar,crawly,slow,unattractive,ploddingalonginchbyinch.Iwonderifinitswildestdreamsiteverimaginedwhatitsdestinycouldbe.

Laterinitsdevelopmentitspenttimelockedinacocoonofit’sownmaking–aloneandperhapseversecure–warmandsafe.There,throughthesimpleyieldingofitsnaturetoahighernature,itbecameoneofGod’smostwondrousandgloriouscreatures.

Beforetransformationwascompletehowever,anintenseandagonizingstrugglehadtobeworkedthrough.Inordertobecomethemagnificentcreatureitwasdestinedtobe,itfirsthadalifeanddeathstruggletoworkitswayoutofthecocoon–anexhaustingandseeminglyimpossibletaskforsuchadelicatecreature.Couldheendure?

Ononeoccasionawell-meaningpersonwatchingthisstruggledecidedtohelpthehelplessbutterfly,sinceitseemedsuchagargantuantaskforittohavetodoonitsown.Sothepersoncarefullyslicedanopeninginthecocoonwitharazorbladeandthebutterflywasindeedabletogetoutmuchmorequickly.Theproblemwasthatthebutterflywasneverabletofly.Yousee,thestruggleisactuallypartofthebutterfly’swasofbecomingabutterfly,andthestrengthitgainsthroughthestrugglegivesitthestrengthneededforflying.Bysolvingthebutterfly’sproblem,thepersonhadcreatedaflightlessbuttery.

Thebutterfly’sdevelopmentfromacrawly,creepingcaterpillartoagloriousfree-flyingbutterflydependsonthebutterfly’sacceptanceandachievementofit’sownstruggle–onitsfaiththatthestrugglewouldleadittosomethingbetter.

Ifonlypeoplewouldaccepttheirlifeandthechangesinitwiththesamefaithasthatofthelowlycaterpillar,perhapstheytoo,wouldseethattheycould“fly”.Wearecalledtoprayerandtrustinwillingnesstowaitinpatientexpectation.WillnotourGodwhoprovidessuchagloriousendforthelittlecaterpillarprovideforusinawaythatwecannotenvision?Eveninourwildestdreams!
