Evidence of another FUN curbside dinner night! Center Board members
and Staff served fifty meals-to-go, wine included, to Center family and
friends. If you are hesitant to sign up because you think it might be the
same old take out routine, you are wrong. Ask any of your friends who have
attended. Dinner night theme attire is encouraged. There is plenty of ser-
vice with a smile!
Following tradition, our August host was once again Atterdag Village. We
always appreciate the great rib dinner that Gil and his crew prepare for us:
Ribs, variety of veggies, baked beans, salad and peach pie. This year was a
bit more special as we know our friends at Atterdag are working extra
hard taking care of their Atterdag friends and family..
Thank you Atterdag Village! Let’s do this again!

The Center will be closed on September 7th , Monday, in ob-
servance of Labor Day.
A note from Ellen…
September is the month that ushers in a change in the seasons, children going back to school and,
for all of us Solvang residence, Danish Days. Our changing seasons have taken on a new meaning
this year, haven’t they? Children are going back to school virtually, events we have counted on have
been changed or cancelled...but the one thing that hasn’t changed is that the Center is here for you!
Last month’s newsletter included an insert from the Center Board and Steering Committee regard-
ing the future of the Center and Solvang 2.0. Much has changed in one month and we’ve included an
insert to update you on the future of your Center. We keep the well-being of our seniors at the top of
our minds and know that you do the same.
*********************************************************************************************Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Our Center would not be able to offer our members the variety of pro-
grams, activities and meals it does if it were not for the support from our members and County wide founda-
tions. June was our membership renewal drive and it was beyond gratifying to see how many of you renewed
your memberships so timely. If you still haven’t done so, please take the time to renew your membership now.

Center Activities:
We are pleased that we can still continue these outdoor exercise classes! We look forward to the day when we can add more activities to our list.
Chair Yoga/Mat Yoga on the Tai Chi Garden-Monday & Wednesday 8:50-9:50
Mat Yoga on the Tai Chi Garden-Friday 8:30-10:30
Class sizes are limited. Please call or text Barbara Laux (408) 390-5934 to sign up.
ATTENTION YOGA FOLKS: No classes on September 7, 9, and 11.
Tai Chi on the Tai Chi Garden-Thursday 9:00 with instructor Chris Milner. Class size limited to six.
If you would prefer one-on-one instruction with Chris, you may contact him at (805) 570-2580.
PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES:
As class sizes are limited, you must call your instructor in advance (especially Yoga).
Temps will be taken before class and you will be asked to read and sign a self-evaluation form before you par-ticipate. If your temp is over 100 degrees, you will be asked to leave and take care of yourself.
Face coverings and social distancing are required at the Center.
Please note that this plan may change at any time due to Santa Barbara County Health regulations.
As we are still not open for general programs and socializing, all participants are encouraged to leave promptly after class.

Don’t forget that we have plenty of books and puzzles for you to take home and enjoy. Let’s keep our minds busy and healthy. We just received a new delivery of yarn for those who knit for the troops. There are some nice new colors. Thanks to all of our knitters, we have well over 100 hats and scarves to donate to the troops when Pat Sullivan and her volunteers pack winter boxes. Let’s keep it up!
Attention sewers: For those of you would like to donate your time for the troops, we have material to make cooling bandanas. You may have to get creative with the pattern, but we know you are an ambitious bunch and love a challenge. These items are just what are troops need during the hot weather. Give Ellen a call and come on in.
September Dinner Night-September 9th
Historically, our wonderful Viking friends have hosted our September dinner nights. Unfortunately, with the cancellation of Danish Days this year, the Vikings are unable keep up this tradition. We’ll sure miss Bent’s delicious pastries and the Vikings wonderful spirit. BUT we are looking forward to seeing them next year.
Dinner night will go on as Sherry Musgrove has volunteered to prepare a wonderful ITALIAN themed meal for us. Spaghetti, seasonal veggies, Caesar salad, garlic bread and a mystery Italian dessert...and wine. The best meal in town delivered to your car for only $10.00.
An extra special treat: A raffle ticket will be included in ONE lucky diner’s to-go bag for a chance to bring home a bottle of Dascomb Cellars 2018 Melange Blanc courtesy of Jan Clevenger. The lucky winner will need to contact us and arrange for pick up or delivery of their prize.
Our friends at Dial-A-Ride are ready to take you wherever you need to go. They are taking all of the required precautions to keep you safe as they provide you with top notch service. Call the Center to purchase your Dial-A-Ride passes for only $5.00 (a savings of $12.50). Center members may purchase two per month and each pass entitles you to 10 rides. Contact SYV Transit to set up your rides at (805) 688-5452.
******************************************************************************************************Need a museum fix? Several of our beautiful local museums offer virtual tours on line. Why not use your newly found free time to enjoy them from home? The bonus is that you don’t have to worry about what you are going to wear or if your feet are going to give out on you as trek around. And no stairs to climb!
