On September 25-27, Tashkent hosted the interna-tional investment event “Energy Week Uzbekistan 2019”. The event was organized by the British company Invest In Network in order to attract international investors and foster the deployment of renewable energy in Uzbekistan. Energy Week Uzbekistan 2019 brought together more than 250 representatives of the energy community. Among the participants were repre-sentatives of the World Bank, IFC, IDB, FMO, AFD, KDB, PFAN, DEG (KfW), GIZ, AIIB, SFD, SkyPower Global, RusHydro, Dongfang Electric, eab New Energy, LONGi Solar, Jinko Solar, Voltalia, Acciona Energia, Keller Central Asia, Risen Energy, GLOBAL Hydro Energy, Pöyry Switzerland, ABB, Vestas, Unipro, Trina Solar Energy Development, Andritz Hydro, Voith Hydro, GUGLER Water Turbines, AE Solar, Kinstellar, Carpi Tech, FEKA, Mitsui & co., Su- Yapi, Temelsu, Larsen & Tourbo, ContourGlobal, Universal Energy, PEM Enerji,

Keynote addresses were made at the opening of the event by the head of the EU delegation to Uzbekistan Eduards Stiprais, GIZ Country Di-rector in Uzbekistan Jörg Pudelka, the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Uz-bekistan Hugo Minderhoud, the Vice President of SkyPower Global Michael Kasumov. Among other topics, the business climate of the Re-public of Uzbekistan was presented to investors.

As part of the business program, investors fa-miliarized themselves with the portfolio of PPP projects in Uzbekistan, including the construction of a 100 MW solar station in the Navoi region, the construction of a greenfield combined cy-cle thermal power station in the Syrdarya re-gion, the construction of a 500 MW wind farm in Karakalpakstan, etc. The current investment project implementation structure in Uzbekistan was presented, as well as parallels were drawn with European legislation in the field of RES support. As part of the focus sessions of the event, the participants studied the current state and pros-pects for the development of hydropower, solar

and wind energy in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Ka-zakhstan and Tajikistan as well as learned about the main sources of project financing, the fore-cast for the development of green energy, and projected barriers to project implementation. Energy Week Uzbekistan 2019 became a major event in the renewable energy sector of Central Asia and the first independent platform in this sector of Uzbekistan in B2B format.
