• Following on from 2009’s highly acclaimed debut The Parallels Amongst Ourselves, 2012 sees SUGAR ARMY return with album number two - 'Summertime Heavy'. Under the guidance of Eric J (Weezer, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion) and Scott Horscroft (Silverchair, The Sleepy Jackson) the band bunkered down for six weeks at Sydney’s Big Jesus Burger studios, and sculpted a crisp, cohesive and fresh meshing of sounds, which now form the ten track record.• This is an album that has groove, soul and sounds like a band that has matured with age, with a continued focus on developing their own world around them. Not without its challenges, this record has seen the once four-piece now become three, a change that the band feel “was diffi cult at fi rst, but ultimately invigorated the writing process”. All the while also having to negotiate some of the clichéd pitfalls that come with making the ‘diffi cult second album’. With that behind them, SUGAR ARMY are now focused on unleashing the fruits of their labour and are eager to start further developing these new songs into what is an already exciting and dynamic live show.
