SEPTEMBER 2 0 1 8

Happy Autumn everyone!

Despite the very wet summer, I think everyone got out to enjoy boating and our

beautiful waterways. As we head into fall, I want to keep everyone informed as

to what has been happening in your community.

The results of our survey at the beginning of the year as to what projects we

should tackle in the community are in the process. We are addressing some of

the hall issues, as in inspecting the electric system, minor repairs, and some out-

side painting.

Potholes on community roads are being addressed now and hopefully complet-

ed in the next few weeks.

We have some community members step up to clean up our big beaches and

discuss some options for picnic tables or benches to enjoy the waterfront. We

had them cleaned earlier in the summer, but the result of the heavy rains and the

release of the Conowingo dam has resulted in a lot of debris at the beaches.

Our Wine at the Beach celebrations resulted in some of the largest attendance

we have ever had! It is great to see new faces at our events. We hope to offer

some exciting activities in the coming fall listed here in the newsletter.

Our boat ramp committee members, Pat and Howard McClanahan and Rick Reis, have stepped down as of this year after 20 plus years of voluntary service. We thank them for all their hard work and hope to see them at community events.

Thanks to all who attended the September 2018 Annual General Membership Meeting. The more community members get involved, the better our community will be!

Please consider volunteering for your community and supporting it with mem-bership. Every membership helps and we will be facing some challenges in the next couple of years that will be costly, such as boat ramp repairs or replace-ment, roofing at the hall, and tree removal/trimming on community properties. Out of the 400 homes, 150 are members! It takes a village to get things done and support from everyone.

Thank you and enjoy the cooler weather!

LPIA Volunteers We are a 100% volunteer association. New volunteers to help manage or improve our community are always

welcome!

There are many ways to help out! You can join the board, become active in the membership meetings, join

standing committees or help out your neighbors by signing up with Helping Hands; plan and attend social

events, yard sales, beach clean-ups; and we always need help with hall mainte-nance, fundraising, and other

special projects!

If you’d like to take part in the Association in any way, reach out! Contact any Board or Committee Member, visit our Facebook page, send us an email. Phone numbers for various contacts are in this bulletin and on the website.

You are also encouraged to attend the annual General Membership Meeting in September to meet others involved in our community!

Boat Ramp NEWS

WELCOME LPIA’S NEW

BOAT RAMP COMMITTEE MEMBERS

Ron and Dale Smith, Charlie Storm and Kris Zaruba

will be managing the 2019 Boat Registration season

and maintenance of the ramp.

The LPIA Boat Ramp

LPIA is grateful for your many years of service to our community.

Thank you for the evenings you spent registering boat ramp members and also for keeping the ramp area in great shape!

Pat, in addition to being LPIA's membership chairperson, kept the Boat Ramp membership list-ings current and also took on the responsibility of issuing keys to eligible association members.

Howard and Rick faithfully cut the grass every Wednesday during the season, and raked leaves & tree debris in the Spring and Fall.

If we had one, we would award the "Golden Broom Award" to Rick. He kept a broom in his truck and regularly swept goose poop off the ramp and finger pier!

Many, many thanks to all 3 of you for a job well done!

Community Beaches and Property

Beach Committee

We have some awesome volunteers who have stepped up and formed a Beach Committee! They are

focused initially on cleaning up the main community beaches and developing a plan to keep them

nice for day use by everyone in the neighborhood!

They are also tasked with developing ideas for improving and determining the best use of the

properties. Do you have ideas, time and/or the man/woman power to help this committee?

Our beaches are the highlights of Long Point on the Magothy;

lets make them safe, usable and enjoyable for all!

Contact Kim Jarmer at 443-618-3054 or via e-mail at [email protected].

**Note: the county storm clean up dumpsters which were scheduled to be at Magothy Road Beach the weekend of September 15th will be rescheduled (October) due to incoming bad weather.**

LPIA is shouting out a Big "Thank You" to our retiring Boat Ramp Committee: Pat and Howard McClanathan, and Rick Ries!
