HELP AT MASSESlinks.steas.net/MassVolunteers
W rath and anger are hateful things,
yet the sinner hugs them tight.
The vengeful will suffer the LORD’s vengeance,
for he remembers their sins in detail.
Forgive your neighbor’s injustice;
then when you pray, your own sins will be forgiven.
Could anyone nourish anger against another
and expect healing from the LORD?
Could anyone refuse mercy to another like himself,
can he seek pardon for his own sins?
If one who is but flesh cherishes wrath,
who will forgive his sins?
Remember your last days, set enmity aside;
remember death and decay, and cease from sin!
Think of the commandments, hate not your neighbor;
remember the Most High’s covenant, and overlook faults.
—Sirach 27
OUR PARISH WELCOMES with joy, through the sacrament of Baptism, Saoirse Isla Davis.
News • Announcements • EventsPARISH SAFETY UPDATE Recently, many public spaces within the parish facilities were disinfected with a germicidal spray known as SD90+ or EnviroShield® Ensure.The church, chapel, narthex, offices, and a few other spaces received this disinfectant, which was applied in two stages and which remains on surfaces for many months. It is a silicone-based chemical which kills bacteria and viruses on surfaces (hard surfaces such as pews, tables, floors, doors and doorknobs, as well as soft surfaces such as textiles and upholstery). Once applied, the germicidal effect lasts six months or longer. This means that we no longer have to disinfect pews after each Mass. As pastor, I cannot tell you how immensely grateful I am to the volunteers who selflessly give their time every Sunday to keep us all safe during this lingering pandemic. Thank you! And thank you to all who cooperate so willingly, out of charity and concern for others.
We still want to ensure that every person who enters the church uses hand sanitizer, is properly wearing a face mask, and maintains adequate social distancing. Upon entering the church, volunteers will still safely guide persons to a pew in order to maintain proper distance between households. We cannot increase the seating in the church, because we need to maintain a distance of at least six feet between households. Aware that more people are returning to Mass, we are looking at adding another Sunday Mass in late afternoon or early evening. We are able now, however, to use the rest rooms in Father Menniti Hall, and to allow people to exit the church through the narthex as well as Seton Lane. We are still asking everyone to enter only through the main doors and narthex, to ensure compliance with the above-mentioned actions — mask, hand sanitizer, and distanced seating — in charity and concern for those around you.
PLEASE SIGN UP BY THIS WEDNESDAY! On Saturday, September 19, our legendary parish kitchen will be offering our first Seton Supper take-out dinner from 5 to 7 pm!

Liturgy of the Word
RESPONSORIAL PSALM Psalm 103:1-2, 3-4, 8, 10, 12-13 (R.) The Lord is kind and merciful. The Lord is kind and merciful.
Bless the LORD, O my soul;and all my being, bless his holy name.Bless the LORD, O my soul,and forget not all his benefits.
(R.) The Lord is kind and merciful. The Lord is kind and merciful.
He pardons all your iniquities,heals all your ills.He redeems your life from destruction,crowns you with kindness and compassion.
(R.) The Lord is kind and merciful. The Lord is kind and merciful.
Merciful and gracious is the LORDslow to anger and abounding in kindness.Not according to our sins does he deal with us,nor does he requite us according to our crimes.
(R.) The Lord is kind and merciful. The Lord is kind and merciful.
As far as the east is from the west,so far has he put our transgressions from us.As a father has compassion on his children,so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him.
(R.) The Lord is kind and merciful. The Lord is kind and merciful.
A READING FROM THE LETTER OF SAINT PAUL TO THE ROMANSBrothers and sisters:None of us lives for oneself,and no one dies for oneself.For if we live, we live for the Lord,
and if we die, we die for the Lord;so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.For this is why Christ died and came to life,that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.
Romans 14:7-9

Order of the MassA READING FROM THE HOLY GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MATTHEW Matthew 18:21-35
Peter approached Jesus and asked him,“Lord, if my brother sins against me,how often must I forgive? As many as seven times?” Jesus answered, “I say to you, not seven timesbut seventy-seven times. That is why the kingdom of heavenmay be likened to a kingwho decided to settle accounts with his servants. When he began the accounting,a debtor was brought before himwho owed him a huge amount. Since he had no way of paying it back,his master ordered him to be sold,along with his wife, his children, and all his property,in payment of the debt. At that, the servant fell down,did him homage, and said,‘Be patient with me, and I will pay you back in full.’Moved with compassion the master of that servantlet him go and forgave him the loan. When that servant had left,he found one of his fellow servantswho owed him a much smaller amount.
He seized him and started to choke him, demanding,‘Pay back what you owe.’Falling to his knees, his fellow servant begged him,‘Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.’But he refused. Instead, he had the fellow servant put in prisonuntil he paid back the debt. Now when his fellow servants saw what had happened,they were deeply disturbed, and went to their masterand reported the whole affair. His master summoned him and said to him,‘You wicked servant! I forgave you your entire debtbecause you begged me to. Should you not have had pity on your fellow servant,as I had pity on you?’Then in angerhis master handed him over to the torturersuntil he should pay back the whole debt. So will my heavenly Father do to you,unless each of you forgives your brotherfrom your heart.”

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNIONThe chalice of blessing that we bless,is a communion in the Blood of Christ;
and the bread that we breakis a sharing in the Body of the Lord.
CLOSING HYMN
The Church’s one foundationis Jesus Christ her Lord;she is His new creationBy water and the word. From heaven He came and sought herto be His holy bride;with His own blood He bought her,and for her life He died.
Elect from every nation,yet one o’er all the earth,her charter of salvation,One Lord, one faith, one birth;one holy name she blesses,Partakes one holy food,and to one hope she presses,with every grace endued.
Though with a scornful wonderthe world see her oppressed,by scisms rent asunder,by heresies distressed;yet saints their watch are keeping,their cry goes up, “How long?” And soon the night of weepingShall be the morn of song.
‘Mid toil and tribulation,and tumult of her war,she waits the consummationof peace forever more,till with the vision gloriousher longing eyes are blest,and the great church victoriousshall be the church at rest.
Yet she on earth has unionwith God, the Three-in-One,and mystic, sweet communionwith those whose rest is won. O Happy ones and holy! Lord, give us grace that welike them, the meek and lowly,may live eternally.
