    Lincoln Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

    Fights for Arkansass Hispanic families and businesses U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln today joined Arkansass Hispanic families and businesses incelebrating the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, held every year from September 15-

    October 15. During Hispanic Heritage Month, we honor the Latino community and pay tribute to theextraordinary contributions that Hispanic Americans make to our state year-round, S enatorLincoln said. Hispanic families and business owners in Arkansas are challenged by the sameissues that all Arkansans face, such as access to quality schools for their children, job securityand tools to help their small businesses grow and prosper. I will continue my work to help allArkansas families and businesses succeed. As Chairman of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee, Senator Lincolnprovides Arkansas a strong voice on issues important to the Hispanic community, such as

    fighting childhood obesity and hunger, and providing federal investment to secure jobs and spur economic development in Arkansass rural communities. Senator Lincoln knows that Hispanic voters in Arkansas are an important part of her campaignand thats why she has established a Hispanic Outreach program, Latinos for Blanche, and acoordinator to work directly with the Latino community.

    Hispanics can identify with Senator Lincolns values of hard work, faith and family, saidHispanic Outreach Coordinator Angela Galvis S chnuerle , a veteran of Lincoln's Senateoffice and 2004 Senate campaign. She has been a friend to the growing Hispanic businesscommunity in Arkansas. Her efforts fighting for all Arkansas businesses have made her popular

    among Latino business owners in Arkansas.Senator Lincoln founded and chairs the bipartisan Senate Hunger Caucus to help the millions of American families, especially children, who suffer from food insecurity. She continues her support of the DREAM Act to ensure all children living in Arkansas are able to reach their fullpotential. Lincoln has earned an A+ from the National Latino Leadership Agenda and theprestigious Capitol Award from the National Council of La Raza.

    On September 27, Senator Lincoln will attend the annual Mexican Restaurant Association(MERA) Convention at North Little Rocks Dickey Stephens Park. The convention, the largestcultural-cuisine celebration in the United States, will celebrate 200 years of MexicanIndependence from Spain and the 100 years of the Mexican Revolution.
