Year 11 Spanish Trip

In the second week of the Easter holidays, 24 Year 11

students went to Spain to complete an intensive

Spanish course ahead of their GCSE examinations.

“Whilst we were in Málaga, we worked hard to improve our

Spanish. But it wasn’t just lessons, we also stayed with

Spanish host families. In the evenings, we ate dinner with

our families and practised our speaking skills. On the

weekdays, we went to an international school, where we

built on these skills and our grammar. Both after school

and on the weekends we had tours of different areas of

Málaga. To improve our listening skills, the tours were given

in Spanish and we had to translate to check we

understood. Overall, I found this trip to be very useful for

improving my Spanish listening and speaking skills and if it

were to run again, I’d love to go back!”

Alex Singhgolden 11JSA

“This was meant to be a revision trip and it certainly

delivered! We attended an international school, taking

intensive Spanish lessons to help us prepare for our

GCSE. Every day we went on different cultural

excursions; for example, we visited the caves of Nerja.

This was helpful to build confidence by listening and

using our Spanish in real-life situations. I hope to have

another experience like this in the future!”

Kingsdale Year 7 Boys’ Football crowned

English Schools 5-a-side Champions!

A huge well done

and congratulations

to the Year 7 Boys’

football team who

were crowned

English Schools’

5-a-side

Champions last

week in Birmingham.

The tournament, featuring nearly 800 teams from

around the country, started way back in December

with Kingsdale winning the area competition held at

Evelyn Grace School, then moving on to Millwall FC

for the area finals. The boys came out winners,

playing 5 games and beating City of London

Academy in the final. In February, the team went to

Barking in East London for the Regional finals (South

East Regional), where 16 teams competed for the ‘big

one’ (English Schools) at Birmingham. Kingsdale came

top of their pool winning all games and went on to

play in the semi-final against a team from Sutton,

winning 3-1. The final was Kingsdale v Brighton; the

players by now tired, dug deep to win 3-1,

making Kingsdale the Regional Champions.

The winning team were Felix Bowen, Archie Jefferies,

Nana Kufor, David Obou, Zak Lovelace, Rylan Withers,

Tobias Brenan and Rivah Bailey.

Player of the tournament and voted for by all the

other teams was Zak. Well done to all!

Under 12 Boys’ Rugby

On Wednesday 2nd May, the

Under 12s Boys’ Rugby

team competed in a Rugby

Finals tournament at Streatham and

Croydon RFC against the 3 other top place finishers

of the Southwark Leagues. The first match Kingsdale

won 15-0 against Carshalton; sweet revenge for the

boys! The 2nd game finished a draw with Bishop

Thomas Grant 10-10. The final game - the decider

for 1st place - saw us hold our own for much of the

match against a much improved Harris Academy

South Norwood side. The score was tied until the

last minute when Harris Academy South Norwood’s

winger broke free to score the deciding try. The boys

should be incredibly proud of their achievements on

the finals day and this season overall and we look

forward with great anticipation to what next season

will bring for them. Well done!

Lost Property

Please remember that Lost Property

is located in the Pupil Support Office at the

Bottom of the Yellow Stairs. Students can go there

to locate lost or mislaid items in the first instance.
