    Carmel-by-the-Sea: Person on San CarlosStreet reported an attempted fraudulent creditcard charge. Victim wanted no further actionbut was counseled.

    Carmel Valley: Victim reported anunknown subject broke two windows to herresidence on Via Contenta.

    TUESDAY, APRIL 28

    Carmel-by-the-Sea: A citizen saw a loosedog unattended on San Carlos Street andattempted to look at the tags on the dogs collar.While doing so, the dog bit the citizen, whoreleased the dog and was taken to CHOMP byfriends.

    Carmel area: Victim at the Crossroadsreported she loaned her car to her boyfriend,and he never returned it.

    Carmel Valley: Past-tense check fraud by afriend of the suspect who unknowingly cashedseveral stolen checks upon the request of theprimary suspect. Case continues.

    Carmel Valley: Domestic argument; femalerefused to leave. Subjects became civil towardeach other and were left to resolve their differ-ences. No evidence of a crime. Case closed.

    Big Sur: Victim left a backpack containinga video camera, a digital camera, several charg-ers, an iPod, and $450 in the Bixby Bridge area.Victim later came back but was unable to locatethe items.

    WEDNESDAY, APRIL 29

    Carmel-by-the-Sea: Victim lost his creditcard holder, and it was subsequently located on

    San Carlos Street.Carmel Valley: Spray-paint vandalism

    overnight. Case continues.Carmel Valley: Anonymous party called to

    report yelling coming from a Calle de laVentana residence next door. Parties were con-tacted, and both admitted that they had an argu-ment and yelled at each other.

    THURSDAY, APRIL 30

    Carmel-by-the-Sea: Person called to reportthat her vehicle may have suffered damage dueto a large hole in the roadway on First Avenue.Upon arrival, officers located a tree root thatwas pushing up the roadway surface. Therewere two areas of damage. Both were approxi-mately 3 feet long, one foot wide and two inch-es tall. Person believed her vehicle sustaineddamage after driving over the roadway damage.Officers inspected her vehicle and could notlocate any damage consistent with the vehicle’sstriking the damaged roadway. The damagedroadway was photographed and marked withpaint. Public works was notified.

    Carmel-by-the-Sea: Sometime during thenight, a 459 [burglary] to a locked vehicle onLobos occurred. The back window wassmashed out and a camera was taken.

    Carmel-by-the-Sea: A male driver, age 32,was stopped on Ocean Avenue for talking onhis cell phone while driving. Upon contact, hewas found to have a suspended license. Thevehicle was towed and impounded, and the dri-ver was cited.

    Carmel-by-the-Sea: Resident on ThirdAvenue reported seeing a male subject carryingwhat he thought was a “slim jim” approachinghis vehicle as if he were trying to break in.Resident yelled at the male subject, who thenran off, getting into a dark-colored sedan andheading eastbound. Resident was unable toprovide any further identifying informationabout the male subject or vehicle. Two otherresidents were contacted nearby shortly afterand claimed they had seen a similar lookingsubject and vehicle parked in town shortlybefore the incident. The only additional infor-mation was that the male subject had curly hairand the vehicle was a newer model compact.

    Carmel-by-the-Sea: Fire engine dis-patched to a residence at San Carlos and SantaLucia for smoke or odor removal, and a resi-dential fire alarm activation due to burned foodon the stove. The home was mechanically ven-tilated and the occupant advised to contact thealarm company for system reset.

    Carmel area: Driver’s license found inChevron on Rio Road.

    Pebble Beach: An anonymous person saw asuspicious person in the area attempting to sellcleaning supplies. She was concerned about thesubject due to recent burglaries.

    Big Sur: Property owner reported vandal-ism to a gate by a trespasser on his property.

    Pebble Beach: Victim reported vandalismto his mailbox and theft of a flag from his prop-erty. Loss/damage total estimated at $150.

    Carmel Valley: Three residents at thesenior-living complex reported suspicious tele-phone calls that were trying to scam them outof money. None of the residents was victim-ized, they just wanted it documented.

    Pebble Beach: Victim reported vandalismto his mailbox. Damage estimated at $80. Nosuspects.

    Carmel Valley: Victim reported the rearlicense plate of his vehicle was missing. CHP-180 form completed.
