Secret EgyptUnravelling truth from myth11 February – 5 June 2011

This brand new blockbusterexhibition will allow visitors toinvestigate the truth behindsome of the popular myths about ancient Egypt.

Did aliens build the pyramids?What was the mummy's curse? Were the Egyptians obsessedwith death?

The displays bring together over 200 objectsfrom some of the most important Egyptiancollections in the country. Highlights include agiant granite statue of Ramesses II from theBritish Museum, a rare sculpture of QueenNefertiti from the Ashmolean, a gold pendantdiscovered in the hands of a robber trapped ina collapsed tomb and a well preservedmummy of a woman called Perenbast.

The exhibition will display many treasurespreviously unseen by the public includingobjects from Manchester University Museum,the Birmingham Museum collections andBolton Museum.
