LEAD A SMALL GROUP THAT FOSTERS AN ENCOUNTER WITH

THE LORD AND OTHERS Our neighbors are thirsting for good news. What if we invited them to a deeper encounter with Jesus? Monday, January 25. 6:00- 8:30pm in the Parish Center, be trained to lead a 6-week small group study for Lent and witness the transforming power of the Gospel. Let’s open the Bible and Live Lent Together! Call Belinda, in the parish office for registration information!

From our Pastor...

“Rabbi, where are you staying? He said, them, ‘Come and you will see.’” Put another way, “Jesus, where do you exist in my life?” And Jesus responds, “I will show you.” Our country is experiencing increased turmoil and division. Many people have become

fearful, anxious and skeptical. All of this is the work of Satan whipping into a frenzy the weaknesses of humanity. This time of testing can reveal the state of our soul. If we are becoming unhinged because of current events, this betrays a distance between Jesus and ourselves. This brings out the lack of trust in Jesus and his power to save. We become afraid of suffering or the suffering of others. On the other hand, in the midst of chaos, as faithful disciples, we are invited to come to the home of Jesus and remain in peace. The home of Jesus the state of peace, happiness, hope and joy. Where is the home of Jesus? We don’t have to look for it, Jesus is our guide: “Come, and you will see.” Jesus reveals himself to the disciples. In turn, they abide with him, stay close to him, observe and imitate him. The more time they spend with him, the more they grow in understanding and trust. Jesus lives with us in the joys and sorrows of our lives. He is ever-present in our peaceful times and our trials. Eventually we realize, as Peter did: “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God.” With the gift of courage from the Holy Spirit, we will follow

Jesus to his home.

Blessings,

PREGNANT VOLUNTEER NEEDED

On Feb 4, Heart of a Child Ministries will be sharing their Celebration of Life presentations with grades K-6 here in our school. These presentations involve cele-

brating the gift of life and the fact that we are all “created in God’s image." Students will witness the miracle of the unborn child through live ultrasounds administered by professional so-nographers on pregnant volunteers. We are seeking a pregnant volunteer(s) willing to share their preborn baby with our students through these live ultrasound presentations. Ultrasound images of the baby will be shown on a large screen. Times needed are be-tween 10:30-3:30. There will be four separate ultrasound presen-tations during this time frame and four separate 10-15 minute ultrasounds administered. We can utilize one volunteer for the whole time period, or two different volunteers who split the time up into two segments. If you are interested in sharing the gift of life with our students and volunteering or if you have any ques-tions, please contact Nikki Schaefer at 402 968- 5308 or [email protected] . For more information, please go to www.heartofachildministries.org.

HOLY WATER The Holy Water Urn has returned and is located in the Northwest corner of the Nave, near the confessional. Holy water is a visible sign of our baptism. We are baptized sons and daughters of God; to live more fully our baptismal call to live as disciples of Jesus. We see holy water whenever we renew our baptismal promis-es. Blessing ourselves with holy water reminds us that

we are baptized into a community faith, and always in need of turning from sin and toward God!

A Jesús nazareno”.

STEWARDSHIP RENEWAL We heard in Deacon Jim’s homily last weekend, about the importance of giving back and sharing the gifts and talents that God has given us! We have new Stewardship renewal forms and you can pick yours up in the parish office, or in the back of church, before or after the Masses. Look the forms over and fill them out. Step out and share your gifts and talents - and help to build our parish community and the kingdom of God!

NOVENA TO ST. JOSEPH FOR THE YEAR OF SAINT JOSEPH-12/8/2020 TO 12/8/2021

Memorare to Saint Joseph

Remember, O most chaste spouse of the Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who im-plored your help and sought your intercession were

left unaided. Full of confidence in your power, I. fly unto you

and beg your protection. Despise not, O Guardian of the Redeemer, my humble supplication, but in your

bounty, hear and answer me. Amen.

ST. BON’S PRESCHOOL & DAYCARE TRIVIA NIGHT

Save the date: Fifth Annual Trivia Night, Saturday, February 27 @7pm. The event this year will take place in our new Parish Cen-ter, with a max of 22 tables(50% capacity). Registration fliers for teams of eight will be available the second weekend of January. Proceeds go toward St. Bonaventure Preschool and Childcare.

ST. BONAVENTURE SCHOOL 1. Kindergarten letters of intent were sent home at the end of November. If you did not receive an intent form and are interested in sending your child to St. Bonaventure Kindergarten in the fall, please call the school office (564-7153).

2. Not sure how to get started with scrip? Start by purchasing scrip for your grocery and gas needs. We have scrip available for HyVee, Super Saver, Walmart, Fast Mart, Off Campus, Sapp, and Caseys. See how easy it is to use scrip cards, and help us earn money for our school! One way scrip profits help our school is that the profits are paying for our annual Internet costs for the entire school and parish offices (about $4,000), so this cost is cov-ered in our budget! This is one of the many ways scrip helps our school and parish!

CHILDREN’S SCHOLARSHIP FUND The 2020-21 school year marks the 19th year that the Children’s Scholarship Fund of Omaha has provided tuition assistance to students in our Columbus Catholic schools. Since its inception in 1999, CSF has provided $799,109.65 in scholarship support to students in the Columbus Catholic Schools!

The beauty of the program is that every dollar raised in Columbus is matched and returned! In most years we raise nearly $21,000 in our three parishes and submitted that sum to CSF-Omaha. In return our schools received a combined $50,000 to $65,000 in scholarships helping on average, 70 students attend one of our four Catholic schools, grades K-8. Not a bad investment!

There will be a second collection at all Masses the weekend of January 30-31 for the Children’s Scholarship Fund, checks payable to: Children’s Scholarship Fund. Please be generous. Your donation may be tax deductible, CSF is a designated 501 (c) 3, and you will be helping our parish families afford the cost of attending one of our Catholic schools. Individual donations can also be dropped off at the rectory or at the Scotus development office. For more information about CSF, contact John Schueth at Scotus: 402 564 7165 ext 109.
