EXPERIENCEFellow, Pollinate Energy Bangalore, India June 2014 – Dec. 2014

Pollinate Energy is a social enterprise that is creating inroads to India’s poor urban markets by providing poor households access to sustainable goods, such as solar home lighting systems and clean cookstoves.

Worked side-by-side with sales force and identified accountability flaws in the business’s sales methodology; determined the incentive model was skewed to favor the sales of an initial installment, not on follow-up collections.

Developed a sustainable business model based on the company’s balance statement using Microsoft Excel. Added operational controls, e.g. carbon copy handbook and inventory record, to improve efficiency of sales process. Established a working model for the company to expand into other markets, including Nagpur and Kolkata. Researched social issues in Kolkata, and with my anecdotal data, the company is looking to expand there today.

Sales Consultant, Koons Ford/ Village Ford Falls Church, VA/Dearborn, MI Jan. 2012 – Jan. 2013 Qualified product requests, isolated customer concerns, and negotiated pricing on decided vehicle(s). Managed clientele contracts for financing, leasing, and purchasing deals using an internal database (ADP). Prepared proper vehicle pricing, including qualifying rebates and interest rates, down payment, and warranty options. Leader on each sales floor in front end revenue per vehicle sold; set up back-end gross sales which generated an

additional revenue stream; in sum, generated more than $200,000 net operating profit between the two firms.

Intern, Office of Congressman Hansen Clarke Washington, DC Aug. 2011 – Dec. 2011 The Congressman represented the people of the 13th District of Michigan (Detroit). Researched member legislation that was requesting our co-sponsorship to determine the cost/benefit results. Collaborated on the drafting legislation for the Detroit Jobs Trust Fund Act (2011), which amended the internal

revenue code to reinvest federal tax dollars collected in the city back into redevelopment projects. Met with executives and lobbyists from various interests, such as the auto industry where I discussed issues

concerning estate tax reform, income deferral policy (LIFO), and fuel efficiency standards. Provided notes from hearings/briefings for the Congressman and legislative aides. Managed constituency correspondence: emailing, mailing, telephone calls, and faxing.
