US and CAS sign NorthAmerican Protective Treaty

After more than a decade ofnegotiations, the Presidents of theUS and CAS, with the approval oftheir Senates, signed the NorthAmerican Protective Treatyobligating each to come to theother’s aid if it is attacked.

“The NAPT will makeeveryone safer, it is a defensiveobligation aimed only at deterringaggression,” said US PresidentAngela Colloton. “We are innegotiation with the other nations inNorth America with the hope ofbringing them into the treaty andinsuring a peaceful world for all.”

“Our brother countries areunited in repelling unwarrantedhostility from any source,” said CASPresident Aaron Franklin. “But wedo not seek war.”

The NAN have expressedconcern that NAPT is directed atthem but such suggestions have beendenied by both the US and CAS whoemphasize that they would welcomethe NAN member states into anexpanded NAPT.

Quebec is rumored to be intalks to join the NAPT next year.

Catholic Cathedralreopens after Repairs

The St James Cathedral indowntown Seattle, damaged duringwinter storm Hekate, has reopenedafter efficient but extensive repairsto the roof and windows.

“We are thankful for all ofthe effort and support of the localcommunity,” said Deacon Wynn-Jones. “The damage caused by thestorm could have been much worseand we are pleased that repairs weredone so quickly as to allow us toresume service with a minimaldowntime.”

A special thanks giving serviceis to be held this Sunday with aperformance by the Seattle CatholicYouth Choir including music writtenespecially for the service by localcomposer Jane Zarastra. The service isopen to all but a small donation isrequested.

The Seattle Unified WorkersCouncil and associated groups isorganizing a march throughdowntown to end at the MetroplexGovernment Headquarters and is tofeatures multiple speakers and otherevents to raise awareness of workersissues.

“The Megacorps may thinkthey run the world but it is really thepeople,” said Workers RightsCoalition Spokesperson MoonchildRain. “There are better worlds to bebuilt and it is the workers and thepeople who will build them.”

The New American Party isthe driving force behind the USLoyalty Day demonstration. “TheUnited States is unified and proud ofour patriotism,” said Louise Lee-Smith, City Councilperson (NAP-FtLewis) who will be giving thekeystone address at the Loyalty Dayevent which will include games,patriotic displays, a voter registrationdrive and a ‘classic American’cookout.

New Gang War between theAncients and the Cutters

The low-level conflict betweenthe Ancients and Cutters gangs haveagain flared into open warfare in Seattle. Knight Errant blames at least twelvemurders in the last week on this conflict.

“We are unaware what triggeredthe end of the truce between the twogangs, but it seems that it began with aCutters ambush in Redmond,” said KEgang specialist Jorge Hammer.

Knight Errant has deployed itsgang task force and additional mobileunits to the Metroplex barrens in anattempt to quell further violence.
