Charlton Village, perched on high ground overlooking the Thames, retains the village atmosphere it has enjoyed for centuries.You can trace its roots back to an Iron Age hill fort and later to the parish around St Luke’s church that dates back as early as 1077. Charlton House was built between 1607 and 1612 and is still widely regarded as London’s finest Jacobean mansion.

Charlton House is home to the Charlton Library and the wonderful Mulberry Tea Rooms, named after the tree planted in its gardens at

the behest of James I – the oldest of its type in England.
