Please read over the owners manuals and familiarize yourself with the product. There is a
trouble-shooting section in each manual. This guide is meant to be a supplement to these
providing illustrated instructions for more detailed trouble-shooting.
Caution: Always ensure the thruster battery switch is turned off, or the thruster fuse is removed before disconnecting the battery cables and removing the thruster motor from the motor bracket.
SP30S2i, SP40S2i, SP30S2i-IP, SP40S2i-IP shear pin replacement instructions
1) Whenever working on thrusters, be sure to shut off battery power to the thruster. Remove 6mm Allen head mounting bolts and lift motor from motor mounting bracket. Special ratcheting tool is available from Imtra to ease removal of IP version units in tight spaces.
2) Remove shear pin retaining ring from motor shaft. Remove remains of broken shear pin.
Insert picture sized to be 3.5” wide and set INTO text
3) Insert new shear pin into motor shaft hole. Insert stepped down end of shear pin first.
4) Use a pin punch to install pin. The flat end of pin should be recessed slightly such that it will not interfere with the retaining ring.

6) Completed shear pin installation. Align pin direction with u-slot in gear leg shaft and replace the motor.
