VOICE

There will be a package for you outside your house. Its

a message from your wife.

WILL

Who is this?

Hangs up.

INT. GARAGE AFTERNOON

In an unfamiliar garage, a mysterious man is slowly

setting his tools on a table under a dimmed light. He

briefly sharpens one, and lines all the tools in place,

before selecting a small axe. He then places the axe to

the right end of the table, before turning away and

slowly walking out of the garage door.

CUT TO

EXT. WALKING DOWN HIS ROAD - EVENING

WILLIAM SHAWDER(WILL) aged 25, enters from right and is

closely approaching his door way, holding his briefcase

and his keys. As he pushes his gate open, he sees a box

placed on the step outside his door, with his name

attached, WILLIAM SHAWDER, on a small white paper. Hewalks to the step, and picks up the box feeling anxious,

just before he enters his house.

CUT TO

INT. LIVING ROOM- EVENING

WILL drops his briefcase by the right side of the couch,

and places the box and keys on the coffee table before

taking off his coat and throwing it onto the bigger sofa.

He sits on the couch and examines the box before openingit. WILL finds a DVD inside with his name written on, and

is still very puzzled. He picks up the DVD, puts it into

the player and turns on the TV. Footage of his wife,

KAREN SHAWDER, aged 24 appears. She is tied to a chair

with a bag over her head, and breathing heavily. WILL

begins to panic and moves closer to the screen.

WILL

(Quietly to himself)

Oh no..

WILL watches the screen anxiously, breathing heavily. On

the TV screen, the bag is removed from KARENS head by a

mysterious man wearing all black, with black gloves and a

balaclava. Karen begins to look around the room panting

and terrified. Suddenly, she looks into the camera andopens her mouth to speak. WILL moves in closer to the

screen, and begins to panic.

KAREN

(trembling)

WILL...listen carefully ok. I dont know where I am..

KAREN briefly looks down to compose herself. She takes a

deep sigh.

KAREN(Reading)

I have been instructed to deliver this message via cue

cards. If you attempt to call for help, or repeat what

you are witnessing.. I will be killed. If you ignore or

refuse him what he is asking for, I will be killed.

WILL begins to sweat on his forehead and runs his fingers

through his hair. He loosens his tie for air.

KAREN continues to read the cue cards.

KAREN

(Reading)

You will be watching this long after it had been

recorded and sent to you.

WILL looks down in distress and guilt, and runs his hands

through his hair. He begins to sweat and loosens his tie.

On the screen, KAREN continues to read...

KAREN

(Reading)

You must empty the safe and the cash must be handled in

sacks and dropped off precisely at 10pm. You will deliver

the cash in 2 days.

WILL grabs a pen from his blazer pocket and quickly

scrambles below the TV to get some paper. He beginswriting the details.

KAREN

(Reading)

The address you will deliver it to is Number 40, Revert

Road. I do not know where I am, but if you ever want to

see me again, you will do as he says. He will show you

that he means business...

( to kidnapper)

What do you mean you mean business?

On screen, the camera drops and KAREN is no longer in

shot. Her heels and another pair of dark shoes can only

be seen. The dark shoes approach her near a table. There

are noises of tools being sharpened whilst KAREN cries

for WILLS help.There is a shadow of a small axe in the

kidnappers hands.

KAREN(screaming)

YOU TOLD ME YOU WOULDNT HURT ME! WILL! WILL!WILL

PLEASE!

WILL falls back and stops writing. He is distressed by

her screams and is nodding his head in fear and panic.

Suddenly, there is a long, loud scream from KAREN,

following the sound of an axe chop.

WILL

AH! F*CK!

WILL gets up and swings his arm in anger to knock the box

on the floor. Something rolls out the box. As he moves

towards the object, and examines closer, he finds KARENS

cut off finger with her ring still on.

FADE OUT.
