    Introduction

    Erecting structural steel work for

    commercial building construction takes

place in a dynamic changing environmentwhere there are many risks and hazards

    associated with it.Proper and timely

planning and coordination are the most

effective ways to manage these hazardsand risks.

    What We Do ?

Define : Understand and specifying the problem

Measure : Identifying the risks involved

Analyze : Brainstorming with the Consultants

and come up with innovative ideas Improve : Bring Change while implementing new

    technologies

Control : Keep Control while actual erection to

    avoid unprecedented accidents

    Sequence of Activities during

Erection Receiving Material from the shop and

    temporarily stacking them, if necessary.

Lifting and placing the member andtemporarily holding in place.

Temporarily bracing the system to ensure

    stability during erection.

    Aligning and permanently connecting the

members either by bolting or welding.

    SCREEN WALL Tower 2

Problems faced : Prior starting theScreen wall fabrication a square hollow

section of dimension (750x450x16)mm isrequired for Screen wall Vertical Columns

which isnt easily available in market and if

we need to manufacture such section it

    would cost at skyrocketing price.

Solution we adopted : We created ashop drawing for the square hollowsection of the required dimension (Cutthe plate and bend it into J section and

joining the two J shaped plates into 1square hollow section with the help of

Splice Plates) which we got it approvedfrom the Consultant and Client.

    Problem 2

Problems Faced : At terrace level (117mheight) about a total of 250 MT of box

columns needed to be lifted and fixed butthe problem we faced is the unavailability

of crane and due to the height factor hydra

cannot be used which is virtually impossible

    to use.

    Solution

Solution We adopted : Usage ofVertical Gadams and chain pulleys

having a capacity to lift 4MT waserected at Terrace and used to lift the

2.5m of Column pieces to complete the

total 16m height of each column.

    Conclusion

The Structural Heavy work requires pre-

    planning before performing the actual

erection on site. It involves all the aspects

of organizing resources , proper job

    allocation and systematic co-ordination ,

risk assessment to achieve great results

    on site.
