Step 1 Gathering of Information

Prior to and during the first meeting, team members gather as much relevant information as possible regarding the student’s past and present educational and/or behavioral performance. Information should be gathered from a variety of sources including parents, official school records, and anecdotal records.

Step 2 Assessment and Evaluation of Data

The team meets to discuss and interpret the information available to them. The team may decide that more information is needed and develop a plan for obtaining the information.

Step 3 Development of Education Plan

After evaluating the existing information, the team develops an individual educational plan specific to the student’s strengths and weaknesses. Strategies and techniques are brainstormed and agreed upon by all those involved in the implementation process. A timeline for follow-up and evaluation of progress is established.

The SST reconvenes to discuss progress and additional data. The educational plan is changed as needed. Further course of action is discussed.

Step 6 Ongoing Monitoring and Evaluation

The SST monitors student progress and alters the plan as is necessary. If the educational plan is effective and no disability is suspected, the team should meet periodically to discuss the student’s progress.

There are several people that can be on the Student Support Team. The SST should include the referring teacher and at least two other participants depending on the needs the student. Here are the participants that could be on the SST.

Navigation Notes Rollover applied to each professional role. When the user rolls over the professional role, the responsibility of the person will pop up and the narration will play. The narration will stop and start as the user moves around the mouse to different professional roles.

School social worker Central office personnel Section 504 coordinator Other appropriate personnel

School counselor provides a K-BIT assessment a small version of an IQ tests to see where the child is if the child is low. During the meeting they provide their data and they go over any referrals or conduct related history in school. Anything that the counselor might have access to, information from home, things that may be going on at home. School Psychologist is there at the final process. Once the team has concluded that this child, from their perspective needs special education services. The child is then run through a battery of tests by the psychologist like the WIAT-III and sends out behavioral assessments to the parents and to the teachers BASC-2. Once those are returned the psychologists analyze that information as well. Then the team will meet again and the psychologist will conclude what areas of concern that the child will need services in. GET THIS INFORMATION FROM THE SMEs.
