    Animal Science Roundup is June 25-27 at ISU in conjunction with 4-H

    Livestock Quiz Bowl

    4-H Livestock Quiz Bowl is April 13 at ISU in Kildee Hall. Registration, practice questions and rules

    are available on the 4-H Livestock Quiz Bowl webpage. Quiz Bowl covers beef, sheep, swine and

    meat goats and students use a buzzer system to answer questions read by the moderator. 4-H

    members in 4th-12th grades are eligible to participate.

    Several council committees have been busy throughout the month of February making planning decisions for the Youth Conference! The Keynote Committee has successfully lined up their two

    keynote speakers, the Food, Housing & Registration Committee is working on banquet entertain-ment ideas and the Promotion Committee has completed the conference logo and promotional

    brochure. Council members are also looking into the possibility of implementing a conference app for delegates and chaperones to use during the conference. We are gearing up for our final retreat March 16-17 at Clover Woods where final conference planning will take place just in time for regis-tration to open on March 20

    th. We are excited to begin promotion and recruitment following our

    March retreat!

    4-H Clover Fabric On Sale At JOANNS Fabric

    In addition to the 4-H clover fabric that is now on sale at JOANNS fabric stores nationwide, the coin

    boxes at each register are collecting funds to support state 4-H programs. JOANNS’s Clover for Kids

    coin box promotion will run Now through April. These funds will be rolled into any paper clover

    sales at the end of the campaign as well. Local 4-H youth are encouraged to visit their local

    JOANNS store or shop online during the promotion. More information about the promotion can be

    found on the national 4-H webpage.

    Iowa Poultry Queen

    Youth ages 16-21 can apply to be the Iowa Poultry Queen for 2018. Check out this handout for

    more information. Applications are due March 15, 2019.

    Block and Bridle Horse Show

    Date Set for Block & Bridle Horse Show

    The 2019 Block & Bridle Horse Show will take place April 19-20. A clinic will take

    place on April 19th with the regular show to follow on the 20th in Elkhart Iowa.

    Check out the show bill for more information. The event organizers are looking

    for sponsorships, check out the sponsorships form for more information.

    4-H youth participants are encouraged to register for the 2019 World Food Prize Iowa Youth Institute on April 29, 2019 at Iowa State University.

    Registration will open February 7-March 25, 2019. During this daylong event students are able to explore majors and careers related to combating global hunger & poverty while also presenting their own ideas and solutions to real-world experts and professionals. More in-formation can be found on the World Food Prize webpage.

    World Food Prize

    For 2019: All 4-H livestock exhibitors will be required to be YQCA certified for county and State Fair exhibition for the following: Beef, Dairy Cattle/Dairy Goat, Meat Goat, Poultry, Rabbit, Sheep and Swine.

    Youth who completed the FSQA test-out option previously, will be granted certification through their respective expiration date.

    YQCA will be offered both online, as well as, in person. It is an annual training that builds on the curriculum each year. The online training will cost $12 per member per year, while the in person training will cost $3 per member per year. To sign up for a training please visit https://yqca.learngrow.io to login with your 4-H online credentials. Make sure to sign up for the course for your age during the 2018 Calendar Year! You may sign up for in-person trainings in other counties.

    A Qualifier Show will be held on July 21st, 2019 at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds with

    winners advancing to a regional competition in Iowa County.

    The Antique Tractor Restoration Program, sponsored by Titan Tire, is receiving applications for 2019. 4-H and FFA members can register to receive donations of front or rear tires while supplies last.     March has found us prepping for fair! We are working hard to update the fair book, and

    the online Fair Entry system we are using again this year. We are excited to announce more changes in the
