Description

TheScotch®WirelessWeatherproofingKitWK-101canbeusedtocreateanenvironmentalseal,(e.g.moistureanddebris),forconnectionsfoundatwirelessinfrastructuresites.Thetapesalsohelppreventthelooseningofconnectionscausedbyvibrations.Thekitisexcellentforcoldweatherapplications.

2.0FeederCabletoJumperCableConnection

2.1 Connectthecablestothepropertorquespecification.

2.2 Ensurethecableisdryandfreeofdebrisorcablemarkers.

2.3 Startwrapping2"(51mm)beyondthefeederconnectorandcreateonehalf-lappedlayerof¾"(19mm)vinyltape.Wrap2"(51mm)pastthejumperconnectororanystrainreliefdevice.

2.4 Usingthebutylmastictape,buildupthejumpercablediameternearthefeedercabletocreateasmoothtaperedtransition.(Tocreatetaper,stripsofbutyltapemaybefoldedinhalflengthwiseforfasterbuildup.)Tapershouldendatthesamepointasthefirstlayerofvinyltape.Smoothfinallayerbyhand.

2.5 Oncesmoothtaperedtransitioniscomplete,usebutylmastictapetocreateenvironmentalseal.Start2"(51mm)beyondthefirstlayerofvinyltapeandmakehalf-lappedlayersextending2"(51mm)pasttheoppositeendofthefirstlayerofvinyltape.Smoothbyhand.

2.6 Next,beginning1"(25mm)beyondthelayerofbutylmastictapeappliedinstep2.5,wraptheentiresectionofcablewithoneortwolayersofhalf-lapped2"(51mm)widevinyltapeextending1"(25mm)beyondthelayerofbutylmastictape.

2.7 Finally,wraptheentiresectionofcablewiththreecontinuoushalf-lappedlayersof¾"(19mm)widevinyltape.Beginandendthefinalthreelayers1"(25mm)beyondeachendofthepreviouslayerofvinyltape.

3.0JumperCabletoAntennaConnection

3.1 Connectthecabletotheantennatothepropertorquespecification.

3.2 Wraptheconnectionwithonelayerof¾"(19mm)vinyltape.Start1"(25mm)beyondthejumpercableconnector–orstrainreliefifapplicable–andwrappasttheconnectorclampingnutbutshortofantennabase.

3.3 Cutalengthofbutylmastictapethatwillallowthetapetoextend2"(51mm)beyondthefirstlayerofvinyltapeonthejumpercableanduptothebaseoftheantennawhenappliedlengthwise.Wrapthebutylmastictapearoundthecableconnectorandthecablelengthwise,stretchingslightlyifnecessary,thenpressthetapeedgestogethertoensuretherearenogapsincoverage.Presstoconformandsmooththetapeagainsttheconnection,cable,andbaseoftheantenna.Twolengthwisepiecesofbutylmasticmaybeneededtoensurecompletecoverageofcableandconnection.

3.4 Starting1"belowthebutylmastictape,wraponehalf-lappedlayerof2"(51mm)vinyltapeuptothebaseoftheantenna.Repeattheproceduretoapplysecondhalf-lappedlayer.

3.5 Starting1"(25mm)belowthepreviouslayerofvinyltape,wraptheentirecableandconnectionsectionwiththreecontinuoushalf-lappedlayersof¾"(19mm)widevinyltape.

4.0JumperCabletoAntennaConnection–RestrictedAccessNote: For installations where access to the jumper cable and antenna connector is

restricted, it is recommended to prepare the jumper cable prior to connection.

4.1 Wrapthejumpercableandconnectorbodywithonelayerof¾"(19mm)widevinyltapestarting1"(25mm)beyondthejumpercableconnector–orstrainreliefifapplicable–upto,butnotonto,theconnectorclampingnut.

4.2 Cutalengthofbutylmastictapethatwillallowthetapetoextend1"(25mm)beyondtheinitiallayerofvinyltapeonthejumpercableandupto,butnotonto,theconnectorclampingnutwhenappliedlengthwise.Slightlystretchwidthoftapesothatitwillwrapcompletelyaroundtheconnectorbodyandcable,thenpressthetapeedgestogethertoensuretherearenogapsincoverage.Presstoconformandsmooththetapeagainsttheconnectorbodyandcable.Morethanonepieceofbutylmastictapemaybeneededtoensurefullcoverage.

4.3 Starting1"(25mm)belowthebutylmastictape,wraponehalf-lappedlayerof2"(51mm)vinyltapeuptotheconnectorclampingnut.Repeatproceduretoapplysecondhalf-lappedlayer.

4.4 Starting1"(25mm)belowthepreviousvinyltapelayer,wrapthecablewiththreecontinuoushalf-lappedlayersof¾"(19mm)wide3M™Scotch®Super33+™VinylElectricalTapeuptotheconnectorclampingnut.

4.5 Connectthejumpercabletotheantennaconnectortothepropertorquespecification.

4.6 Start1"(25mm)belowtheconnectorclampingnutandapplyone(1)half-lappedlayerof¾"(19mm)vinyltapeextending1"(25mm)beyondthecableconnectorclampingnut.Wrapupto,butshortof,thebaseoftheantenna.Ifspacerestrictionspreventwrappingtapefromroll,thenthetapecanbeappliedinone(1)ormorestripsifnecessary,orastripcanbewoundontoasmallapplicator,(e.g.apencil),andunwoundaroundtheconnectionassembly.

Note: When possible, leave some area of the connector body exposed.

4.7 Cutalengthofbutylmastictapelongenoughtocoverfromthebaseoftheantennadownto1"pasttheendofthevinyltapelayerappliedinStep4.6whenappliedlengthwise.Wrapthebutylmastictapearoundthesection,stretchingslightlyifnecessary,andthenpressthetapeedgestogethertoensuretherearenogapsincoverage.Presstoconformandsmooththetapeagainsttheconnection.Morethanonepieceofbutyltapemaybeneededtoensurecompletecoverage.

4.8 Wraptwo(2)half-lappedlayersof2"(51mm)vinyltapestarting1"(25mm)beyondthebottomofthebutylmastictapeanduptothebaseoftheantenna.

4.9 Wrapthree(3)half-lappedlayersof¾"(19mm)vinyltapestarting1"(25mm)beyondthepreviouslayerofvinyltape,uptothebaseoftheantenna
