*An observation from the natural

world that leads to a question.

*Topic must not be too broad

so that you can solve your

question through experimentation

*Also called 'Purpose'

*Your hypothesis needs to make sense!

*While you may believe aliens cause

global warming that would be

pretty hard to 'prove' scientifically!

* Give it your best guess!

*state clearly and simply

*Do not state as a question

*Remember it is understood that

this is an 'educated guess', so no big

deal if you're wrong

*Tools for measuring are important!

*Just like baking cookies, you

wouldn't start baking before having all

the ingredients, so don't start an

experiment without having what

you need!

*Conduct an Experiment!

*Your experiment will be designed

around your hypothesis and will either

prove or DISprove it.

*While it is important to keep your

hypothesis in mind, watch out for bias!

*Analyze your data

*Do your results prove or DISprove

your original hypothesis?
