QuestionWill tap , rain ,
or distilled water grow plants best?
Tap water contains some chemicals and minerals.Rain water has not had any chemicals or minerals removed.
Distilled water has been purified and lacks chemicals and minerals.
Hypothesis
I think rain water will grow
plants best.
I think this will happen
PlanMy plan is to plant nine pinto bean plants and water them with the same amount of tap, rain, and distilled water. I will record the growth of all nine and make a bar graph of the tallest of each.
ExperimentI planted nine pinto beans in red cups at the same depth in the
soil using a ruler. I gave each one a ½ cup of water.
(3 tap, 3 rain, 3 distilled)
Experiment Part 2Day 2 – No waterDay 3 – ¼ cup of water in eachDay 4 – No waterDay 5 – First sprout observed - (Tap)Day 6 – Two sprouts of each observedDay 7 – All nine sproutedDay 8 – No waterDay 9 – No waterDay 10- ¼ cup of water in eachDay 11- Final measurement

ConclusionMy hypothesis wasn’t entirely correct. Tap and rain grew best, but distilled wasn’t far behind. My experiment showed that as long as plants get water, they will grow.
