Part Two

IntroductionThis message is a continuation, a part two, of our study of Science and the Bible.For those naysayers out there, I am not a man with a PhD in any area of science and I am not the world’s most gifted Bible teacher, but I do believe in God’s Word and rightly dividing it and at the same time have more than just a passing interest in science.

IntroductionI only say this because these messages do attract those who wish to attack Scripture and those who profess to believe that God is superior to man in everyway.Of course, they always attack but never offer any thing of substance as to why they say what they say.They are neither believers nor scientists.

IntroductionIn our previous study, we looked at 4 different items of interest and showed how the Bible accurately stated these thousands of years before man even formulated their theories about these principles:

The Number of the StarsGenesis 22:17 (KJV) 17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

rough estimates for both the number of stars and the sand on the seashore

A hundred billion trillion is a very large number!

The Number of the StarsScripture uses the number of the stars to

signify a large number.

Here are some verses to consider.

The Number of the StarsGenesis 26:3 (KJV) 3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;

The Number of the StarsGenesis 26:4–5 (KJV) 4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; 5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

The Number of the StarsGod kept his promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Deuteronomy 1:10 (KJV) 10 The LORD your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.

The Number of the StarsThe nation of Israel would not keep God’s

word. The result?

Deuteronomy 28:62 (KJV) 62 And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God.

The Number of the StarsPsalm 19:1 (KJV) 1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

The Number of the StarsThere is a famous astronomer and mathematician named Claudius Ptolemy.

His book, The Almagest, catalogued 1,022 stars.

Ptolemy finished this work in 150AD.

The Number of the StarsMany astronomers after him believed

that this was all the stars there were, even though Ptolemy himself never said

this.Ptolemy lived in Alexandria, Egypt.

Even though Ptolemy never stated his book contained all the stars, this was the

“scientific” principle overwhelmingly accepted.

The Number of the StarsThis attack on God’s word went on until

the 16th century.It was an attack by the devil because if people would believe the number of the stars was a little over a 1,000 there was no need to give Scripture any credence.

The Number of the StarsOf course, there are many more stars

than 1,022.On a dark, clear night, it is actually possible to see somewhere around

5,000+ stars without any assistance from binoculars or a telescope.

Of course, your own eyesight has to be taken into account here.

The Number of the StarsIt is estimated that our own galaxy, The

Milky Way, contains over 100 billion stars.

Astronomers believe that there are actually more galaxies than the number

of stars in our own galaxy.Based on what we saw before, this

makes sense. An estimated 100 billion trillion stars exist.

The Number of the StarsWith man it is impossible to count the

number of stars.But with God, all things are possible.

Psalm 147:4 (KJV) 4 He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.

How Old?We will take a look now at the age of the

universe and the earth.How old is the universe and how old is

the earth?

How Old?The greatest majority of scientists,

whether they be astronomers, geologists, archaeologists, etc., believe that the

earth is roughly 4.5 billion years old and that the universe is even older, at

roughly 14 billion years old.

How Old?If we examine our King James Bible we would come to the conclusion that the

earth and the universe, or the heavens, are roughly 6,000 years old.

How Old?This makes for a discrepancy of a factor of some 750,000 for the age of the earth and around 2 million for the age of the

universe.To think some Christians want to

compromise! It’s only off by about 1 million to 1!

How Old?There are several reasons why scientists disagree with the Bible by such a huge

difference.What’s amazing is that none of their

theories would stand up to their scrutiny if they actually practiced science as

science is meant to be practiced.

How Old?One reason so many scientists agree with each other about the inflated age of the universe and earth is because of their agreement based solely on agreeing

without testing.It leads to circular reasoning.

How Old?Most scientists believe the earth and

universe are as old as they claim because they believe other scientists think the earth and universe are old.

They may think it does not seem to make sense at first, but surely all these other

scientists can’t be wrong.

How Old?The reasoning is not just in their

particular specialty.A geologist may believe the earth is a billion years old because astronomers

believe the solar system is a billion years old.

How Old?At the same time, the astronomer

believes that the solar system is a billion years old because geologists believe the

earth is a billion years old.There is a lot of pressure to just go with

the status quo, even in science.

How Old?The greatest majority of scientists who believe in a universe and earth that are over a billion years old, also believe in

evolution.Evolution requires huge estimates of age like this in order to make it appear it is

correct.

How Old?If evolution were able to work on a 6,000 year time cycle, then we would be seeing

transformations occurring before our very eyes.

Of course we don’t and do not even see it on the time scales evolutionists are

forcing you to believe.

How Old?A biochemist named George Wald put it

this way,“Time is in fact the hero of the plot… Given so much time, the ‘impossible’

becomes possible, the possible probable, and the probable virtually certain. One

has only to wait; time itself performs the miracles.”

How Old?Nearly all of science and the vast

majority of people believe in a theory called the Big Bang Theory.

The Big Bang Theory is based on a principle called Naturalism.

How Old?Naturalism states there is no God, that

nature is all there is or ever was.Just one reason that Christians should not

buy into this Big Burp Theory.

How Old?Many so-called Christians ask,

“Can’t we just try to figure out a way to make both God and the Big Bang Theory

right?”

How Old?Naturalism and the Big Bang Theory also contradict Scripture on the age and order

of things.

How Old?The Big Bang Theory states the universe

is nearly 14 billion years old.The Bible states it is about 6,000 years

old.A difference of over 2 million to one!

How about the order of things?

How Old?Naturalism and the Big Bang theories

teach that the stars were formed before the earth, fish came about before fruit

trees, and the sun came about long before plants.

How Old?Scripture shows the exact opposite.

The earth came before the stars, fruit trees came before fish, and the plants

were created before the sun.

How Old?Genesis 1:12–13 (KJV) 12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

How Old?Genesis 1:14–15 (KJV) 14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

How Old?Genesis 1:16–17 (KJV) 16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

How Old?Genesis 1:18–19 (KJV) 18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. 19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

How Old?Genesis 1:20 (KJV) 20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. Genesis 1:23 (KJV) 23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

How Old?So the order is earth, fruit tree, stars, fish

in the seas.

Naturalism gets the order completely wrong.

In other words, when man tries to get the order right, outside of God’s word, man

gets it wrong.

How Old?An argument given by the believers in naturalism, the Big Bang Theory, is,

How is it possible for us to see the stars if light travels at a constant speed.

If we consider the distance light travels in one year, a light year, how is it we can

see the light from starts over a million light years away?

How Old?The natural man would be stumped by

that question.A Christian who attempts to combine

naturalism with God would be stumped by that question.

The simple answer is God created all of creation supernaturally, that is, outside

of the natural realm.

How Old?If what science says is true, how indeed would we be seeing light from stars from

that far away?But God said he created the stars to give

light upon the earth.The entire universe and everything in it

was created in 6 days according to Scripture.

The light was provided on day 4.

How Old?In God’s creative work it did not take starlight millions of years to reach the

earth.God made it so the light from these stars, millions of miles away, was presented to

the earth on day 4, 2 days before He created man, and 1 day after he created

the fruit trees, and 1 day before he created the fish.

How Old?It takes faith to believe naturalism, since its principles have never been naturally

proven.

It takes faith to believe God, since His principles have never been naturally

proven.

How Old?Hebrews 11:1–3 (KJV) 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

How Old?The question you need to ask yourself is

whether you will have faith in man, naturalism, or God, supernaturalism.

How Old?There are many other things we can look at to show God is correct and man is not,

but we will need to wait for the next installment.

We will see how the math just does not allow for a universe that is billions of

years old.

Faith In GodWe saw from Hebrews 11:2 that the

elders obtained a good report from God for having faith in God.

Men and women like Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph,

Moses, Rahab, Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthae, David, Samuel, and the

prophets all died believing the promise of God, but not having received it yet.

Faith In GodAs Paul says in Hebrews,

Hebrews 12:1 (KJV) 1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Faith In GodHebrews 12:2–3 (KJV) 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Faith In GodJesus died on the Cross at Calvary, was buried and rose again 3 days later, all

according to Scripture.We believe on Jesus and we have eternal

life, reconciled back with the Father.We will enjoy eternity with God in

supernaturally created bodies by having faith in Him.

Faith In GodAre you going to be so arrogant, so

prideful, that you would believe in a way like naturalism, created by man, and die

in your sins, only to face the one who created everything for judgment?

Scripture has been proven over and over to be right, science continuously needs

corrected, it is never complete.

Faith In GodPlease do not face God at the judgment

on your own merits, your belief in naturalism.

You will be cast into an everlasting lake of fire created for the devil and his

angels.Believe on Jesus and live eternally with

God in perfect peace.
