Tradition. Culture. Education. Inclusion. These are the principles that guide us. It’s what you can expect from every program and every employee of the JCC. Welcome to the community.
We’re happy to have you.
Our Children, Teens and Family programs range from new-mom get-togethers and children’s birthday parties right up to computer programming courses for teens. And we’re extremely proud to offer two community drop-in programs so anyone can come by and see what’s happening.
Whatever your children are into, at the J, you’ll find a way to help them get better at it.

Message from our Executive Directors
Our JCCs are in an unprecedented phase of growth, paving theway to both an exciting new chapter in our history and abright future. In their own unique ways, each JCC has becomea hub of community engagement and the centre for Jewish life. Our “J”s have become destinations for people to live up to theiraspirations and dreams...to learn, grow, to stay in shape, andput themselves and their families on paths to meaningful lives.
We are very pleased to announce that our membership continues to climb at a healthy rate, our Daycares andPreschools are at or nearing capacity and the Jack and Pat Kay Centre Camp has cemented itself as the premier Jewishday camping option throughout the city.
We are also excited to unveil an enhanced program lineup, designed to meet the needs of all ages. These exciting additionsinclude; a new arts and culture department, TRIBE team training (small group fitness training), KidFit (group exerciseclasses focused on children) at the Schwartz/Reisman Centre, the expansion of Kachol Lavan and JRoots to the ProssermanJCC, the introduction of our new J school of Israeli dance, andmore house league and elite sport offerings than ever before!
These enhancements were driven by conversations that you’vehad with our dedicated staff team. We value all of your suggestions and insights that are provided through surveys,run-ins around the JCCs and through all of our events. Yourthoughts and opinions are invaluable as we are consistently trying to achieve our mission to provide your family withmeaningful and well rounded experiences.
With all of the exciting developments, it is with pride that wealso present to you the Fall 2014-Winter 2015 program guides, complete with a new look and feel. J stands for Jewish and also for
JCC: the welcoming environment
that transcends differences,
creating an atmosphere where
anything is possible. “Element J”
is the strand of DNA that ties
together everything we do.
We see it in our camps, our early
childhood classrooms, our fitness
centre – and beyond. In fact, it’s
true of all the amazing array of
offerings that comprise a JCC...
Element J gives everything a
special something.
there’s something special about the J

fall 2014 | winter 2015 | Children, Teens and Family
Like other quality children’s programs, all our classrooms have a Registered Early Childhood Educators so you know milestones will be pursued and met. Unlike other programs, exploring what it means to be Jewish is a key component of our curriculum.
Jewish stories and songs are shared and sung, Kosher food is served (including fresh challah every Friday), and Jewish holidays are observed and explained. Additionally, each class has both an English and Hebrew teacher.
We’re pleased to offer full-day, half-day and after-school programs, as well as special PA day programs so parents don’t have to adjust their schedules.. We have a lovely saltwater pool for the kids to swim in (there are always lifeguards present), and a multi-purpose gymnasium where we bring students to play sports of all kinds, from motor-developing games like soccer and hand ball to team-building games. Competition is never stressed, only continuous improvement and fun.
For registration or more information about any of our daycare programs, please contact [email protected] or 905.303.1821 x3087.

Special Programs For Children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder DiagnosisWe offer one of the more comprehensive programs for children on the autism spectrum, made possible by the Lily and Michael Rosenberg Philanthropic Fund at the Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto.
We use the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis, a safe and effective way to teach skills. The instructor’s role is to facilitate the group based on the program goals. It is not a consultative approach. At the end of the session, participants will receive a written progress report based on the program goals. Learners will be grouped into a maximum of 8 on their individual skills and ability levels.
Social Skills GroupsThe goal of these programs is to build children’s social and recreational skills in a safe environment while providing every participant the opportunity to identify and expand on their individual talents.
