h8p://www.esa.edu.au
My name is Charlene Plunke8 and I am one of four cataloguers in Western Australia
Who we are What we need to catalogue What the SCIS website has to offer
The four Western Australian cataloguers Barbara Carle Suan Kui Yoong Tina Hoyland Charlene Plunke8
We were all original cataloguers with the Department of Educa3on un3l our posi3ons were abolished in 2013 and we were contracted to Educa3on Services Australia or ESA As contract cataloguers we do not represent ESA. We are part of team of cataloguers from around Australia and New Zealand that catalogue for SCIS All four of us work from home.
ESA have an arrangement with Campions Educa3on that they will be the depot for SCIS cataloguing Barbara and Suan Kui collect cataloguing items from Campions Educa>on 28-‐30 Kembla Way, Wille8on WA 6155 Tina collects cataloguing items from Catholic Library of Western Australia 50 Ruislip Street LEEDERVILLE WA 6007 Charlene collect cataloguing items from Campions Educa>on Door 4, 7 Oxleigh Drive, Malaga WA 6090 I live in Midland, so if you are near by, I am happy to collect from you directly.
This is my work place at home with my union rep: Smokey-‐Bomb. He requires a stop work mee3ng around 4pm each day for cuddles
And Peppi Le Pew is my supervisor. ;) So if you find a li8le fluff in your books you know who is responsible.
Spare 3me? Foster ki]es. An ahhh moment.
Once a week I collect items that the schools drop off for cataloguing from Campions Educa3on and return them the following week. Once I return the books I email the school to say that they are ready to collect.
• Contact details for the school items assist us in geXng in touch with you.
When sending items to Campions Educa3on or Catholic Educa3on these points are important to remember. Please remember to: • Pack the resources carefully in a clearly labelled and
sealed container, in order to ensure that the contents arrive safely
• Include a list of the resources in each package
• Ensure the weight of each package does not exceed 10 kilograms (equivalent weight of 4 reams of A4 paper)
• Indicate if there are any resources in the batch that require urgent a8en>on
• Ensure your school stamp is on the resources
• Ensure that your barcode label does not obscure the ISBN or any publica>on details such as date, place of publica>on, etc
• Send in all components of a mul>part item, including its container (if any)
• Cover all costs for transport and delivery of resources. • You should communicate directly with the cataloguer regarding delivery of
resources.
TO CAT REQUEST OR NOT TO CAT REQUEST Cataloguing a book without seeing it can be a li8le bit like Chinese whispers, you don't get the original story. Ideally if you send the item in we can make the best catalogue record possible. That is why we always make a note on the of a Cat request record: Cat request, item not examined, 23/5/2015. Once we have the book in hand we update the record. Sighted and updated
When sending a cat request please remember to:
• Take the >tle from the >tle page
• Make sure that the number you scan is the ISBN, not the product code
• Include the summary at the back of the book or on the book jacket.
• Are there any illustra>ons?
• Pages numbers: are they noted or is it unnumbered?
