BPharm Honours Programme The School re-introduced its Bachelor of Pharmacy Honours (BPharm (Hons)) Programme

for the 2015 academic year, with Honours’ students beginning their research project

(PHCY480) in early November 2014.

All together 33 students from third year of the undergraduate pharmacy programme applied

for entry to the Honour’s programme. Students are selected based upon their GPA up to

and including first semester P3, research experience and interest perceived by their cover

letter and student-teacher interviews, and the availability of preferred research projects.

11 places were offered in the programme. Although the minimum allowable entry grade is a

GPA of B+, most students who entered the programme have a minimum GPA of A.

All students received scholarships to cover the 10-week research period over the summer

between years 3 and 4 (PHCY480). The School is grateful for financial support from a range

of funders as shown below.

Although students are also eligible to join the programme and self-fund their living expenses

over this period, this year there were sufficient scholarships to cover available projects.

Ultimately places were limited by the number of available projects.

Conference Attendance The School is pleased to be able to support staff and postgraduate students to attend

national and international conferences. This is essential to ensure that the academic staff

are abreast of developments in their field, to allow them to network with potential international collaborators and to provide opportunity to present research data where it

can be peer-reviewed and critically assessed.

PhD students are given a grant-in-aid to attend national and international conferences to

present their PhD research in second and third years of their programme. Support is also

provided by the Division of Health Sciences.

Not all were financially supported by the School
