REPORT TO THE COMMUNITY ÉCOLE R.W. BOBBY BEND SCHOOL 2019-2020 LAST YEARS SCHOOL ACCOMPLISHMENTS: NUMERACY: the ability, confidence, and willingness to engage with quantitative or spatial information to make reasoned decisions in all aspects of daily living. What we did for: Students Develop students’ proficiency in numeracy so that an increase of the students achieved a ‘3’ or ‘4’ rating in each category, each term, on the report card Implemented MCSI (math continuum) and initial assessment in numeracy Programmed for students using Optimal Learning Model (Guided Math) Looked for the 8 effective mathematics teaching practices Used number talks and data gathered to plan lessons Used numeracy-rich literature to provoke conversation and talk around number (Mathology) Staff Established PLC partners and participate in monthly PLC discussions Used collaborative time to discuss grade specific data, curricular outcomes, and best practice Participated in French Immersion PD in numeracy Participated in Guided Math divisional group Participated in mRLC (3 teachers) and divisional PD Purchased math-related literature and manipulates Used Marion Small’s resources for math talks, exploration and problem solving, and assessment Community Provide on-going information through website, Twitter, PAC meetings (Portfolio Night and Math Night postponed due to period of Remote Home Learning) This school year, our staff are grateful for the support of parents and guardians in helping the school achieve goals during the period of Remote Home Learning. NEXT YEAR’S GOALS and PRIORITIES: In addition to helping students meet grade and curricular expectations, RWBB will continue to make numeracy a focus for next year. Using parent, student, support staff surveys and feedback as well as the RWBB PATH (see next page), school goals will also align with the Interlake School Division’s Continuous Improvement Plan.
