Summary Statement: Please provide a brief description for how the analyzed data will impact your Inquiry and Action Planning process.Foothill High School was classified as a 3-star school, as indicated by the 2018-2019 NSPF, earning 71 of the possible 100 index points. An analysis of the data provided in the NSPF 2017-18 report also revealed a positive trend in the graduation rates over three years from 86% in 2016 to 90% in 2017 to 93% in 2018 and 2019. This increase should be attributed to the scheduling of students to appropriate Apex courses to decrease credit deficiency as well as the implementation of engagement strategies in the classroom.

Priority Need/Goal 1:Increase the number of students graduating from 93% to 94% by 2020 as measured by the CCSD Datalab.

 Root Causes:Discipline data, classroom observations, lesson plans, and student work samples indicate there is a need to improve student engagement and the presence of differentiated instruction in classrooms at Foothill High School.

 Measurable Objective 1:Increase the percent of 12th grade students credit sufficient from 51% in October of 2020 to 60% in February 2020 as measured by datalab.

SBCT sessions are focused on improving student engagement through specific student engagement structures. Additionally, CPD and RPDP have done instructional rounds to develop targeted professional development on Differentiated Instruction. Administration and department coaches work with teachers modeling lessons, covering classes for peer observations, and providing feedback to teachers using the NEPF standards. Teachers are given the opportunity to observe teachers at other schools, as well. Link crew leadership class helps administration with the overall climate on campus. Additionally, students deliver lessons on time management and strategies to be success for freshmen. Focus on Tier I instruction using ELL strategies. SBCT will also focus on reading and writing strategies for all content areas. In the fall of 2019, feeder middle schools will be invited to collaborate with Foothill's teachers concentrating on aligning expectations, procedures and strategies. Data professional development sessions have been provided to help teachers understand and plan for specific targeted interventions for our struggling sub populations. Three Achieve 3000 sessions will be provided to teachers throughout the year to utilize this program which will help with differentiated instruction in reading comprehension across the curriculum.

PAC meetings include conversations about student engagement and ownership of learning as well as training for parents to help students with content. Counselors conduct credit checks and communicate with parents on students progress. The creation of One Hill Initiative has given parents an opportunity to participate in dialogue as well as projects on campus. Utilization of a common set of core values K-12 implemented. Teachers will use specific engagement structures and interactive technology to provide instruction where students are engaged, active participants. Teachers will differentiate their instruction daily. Teachers will also use data to plan lessons and share best practices to help close the gap for students. Achieve 3000 will help our lowest performing students with literacy across disciplines. College Equipped Readiness Tool will be provided for 11th grade students. MAP testing will help teachers determine areas for improvement and growth, providing opportunities for differentiated instruction for all ninth and tenth grade students.

AP teachers attended summer AP Institute. Potential AP teachers can attend, if desired. SBCT helps teachers improve rigor and vertical alignment between regular & honors coursework and AP coursework. In the fall, AP Capstone will be offered to students. Teachers will attend the AP Summer institute throughout the year. One Hill Initiative implemented this year focusing on a common set of core values K-12. Elementary and Middle school outreach throughout the school year to allow for participation in activities and sports at the high school. Student Advisory meetings are held with students once a month to discuss concerns and climate on culture. Continue to develop the Link Crew Program and increase freshmen participation. School culture and climate coach in Fall 2019 to help with attendance data and incentives. Student surveys to guide next steps. Provide the attendance clerk an additional month to work on tracking absences. Track our students who are chronically absent and assign them a mentor.

1.2Implementation of Google Classroom improves communication between parents and teachers. PAC meetings include conversations about student engagement and ownership of learning as well as training for parents to help students with content. Counselors conduct credit checks and communicate with parents on students progress. The creation of One Hill Initiative has given parents an opportunity to participate in dialogue as well as projects on campus. Utilization of a common set of core values K-12 implemented. Feeder alignment meetings and workshops have been provided for parents to discuss school culture, climate and academics K-12. Foothill PTO has fully been implemented. This year we have dedicated a counselor to provide support and wrap around services.

Foothill counselors, teachers and administrators held an AP/Dual Credit night in February 2020 to provide families information regarding both and coursework that will be offered in the fall.

SBCT sessions are focused on improving student engagement through specific student engagement structures. Additionally, CPD and RPDP have done instructional rounds to develop targeted professional development on Differentiated Instruction. Administration and department coaches work with teachers modeling lessons, covering classes for peer observations, and providing feedback to teachers using the NEPF standards. Teachers are given the opportunity to observe teachers at other schools, as well. Link crew leadership class helps administration with the overall climate on campus. Additionally, students deliver lessons on time management and strategies to be success for freshmen. Focus on Tier I instruction using ELL strategies. SBCT will also focus on reading and writing strategies for all content areas. In the fall of 2019, feeder middle schools will be invited to collaborate with Foothill's teachers concentrating on aligning expectations, procedures and strategies. Data professional development sessions have been provided to help teachers understand and plan for specific targeted interventions for our struggling sub populations. Three Achieve 3000 sessions will be provided to teachers throughout the year to utilize this program which will help with differentiated instruction in reading comprehension across the curriculum.

Teachers will use specific engagement structures and interactive technology to provide instruction where students are engaged, active participants. Teachers will differentiate their instruction daily. Teachers will also use data to plan lessons and share best practices to help close the gap for students. Achieve 3000 will help our lowest performing students with literacy across disciplines. College Equipped Readiness Tool will be provided for 11th grade students. MAP testing will help teachers determine areas for improvement and growth, providing opportunities for differentiated instruction for all ninth and tenth grade students.

AP teachers attended summer AP Institute. Potential AP teachers can attend, if desired. SBCT helps teachers improve rigor and vertical alignment between regular & honors coursework and AP coursework. In the fall, AP Capstone will be offered to students. Teachers will attend the AP Summer institute throughout the year. Additionally, CTE teachers attend workshops and conferences to address deficiencies in their alignment,in their certification process and completion . Dual Credit Teacher Academy through Nevada State College. Dual Credit teachers collaborate with Nevada State college professors on alignment monthly. Focus is on improving culture for staff as well as for students. Staffulty and PTO incentives to decrease chronic teacher absenteeism. One Hill Initiative implemented this year focusing on a common set of core values K-12. Elementary and Middle school outreach throughout the school year to allow for participation in activities and sports at the high school. Student Advisory meetings are held with students once a month to discuss concerns and climate on culture. Continue to develop the Link Crew Program and increase freshmen participation. School culture and climate coach in Fall 2019 to help with attendance data and incentives. Student surveys to guide next steps. Provide the attendance clerk an additional month to work on tracking absences. Track our students who are chronically absent and assign them a mentor.
