15 January 2016 Good morning. The weather has certainly turned since the mild period we were experiencing. I see that the weekend forecast for Sunday is that it will be exceponally cold. The children do play outside and will connue to do so during the build, so please ensure that your child has a warm coat, hat, gloves etc for these mes. Although snow is not forecast, should we have any unexpected snow, please log on to the school website or Facebook for informaon. Our policy is always to keep the school open during periods of snow but there may be mes when we have to be flexible over opening and closing mes and we are oſten dependent on staff who live further away being able to travel in safely. We will monitor the temperatures and if we think it is too cold for children to be outside for extended periods of me i.e. lunchmes, then we will make provision for the children to have some supervised me inside. Builders will be on site for the next two Saturdays doing some preliminary enabling works before the official compound is put into place. You will find aached to this newsleer a leaflet drop that is taking place in the local neighbourhood. Enabling works include making addional staff car parking and top surfacing a play area. As a staff team we are currently working to put together a clubs offer for children for the spring term. Please be mindful that as the school site is limited and we are having to make adaptaons to supervision and playmes, some clubs may not be able to run. We are trying desperately to ensure we run as many as possible. Outside providers for whom you will have already received leers or informaon will run as proposed. We are sadly unable to run netball due to a lack of netball courts. The only space the school was able to offer Cardinals was an indoor hall for one evening per week, but the club felt that that wouldn't be big enough for their needs. We will aim to send out club offers within the next two weeks. If your child is due to start school in September, don’t forget that the deadline for applying is today! With best wishes. RUNNING CLUB NEWS

To all runners - we start back on Friday 22nd January. Wrap up warm! Any

queries, please email [email protected]

Current Running Club Congratulations to Lucas Collyer-Todd who has qualified for the national finals of the

Schools Biathlon Champs! A great achievement. We hope that his success will inspire more of our running group to

get involved in the event in 2016.

Old Pyrfordian Congratulations to Gus Cockle who was selected to run for Great Britain last weekend in the Great

Edinburgh Run. He was part of the GB team led by Mo Farah, running a very muddy, hilly 6k against teams from

Europe and the USA - more inspiration for our young

runners!

You can spot him (just look at the mud!) in the highlights here on http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b06wdrv6/great-edinburgh-international-cross-country-2016 at 24.30-25.30

Isobel Berry in Rowan Class writes:

“I'm 9 years old and a keen swimmer. I want to help my school and Foodbank. I'm going to be swimming

100 lengths of a 25 metre swimming pool, with my Dad, on Saturday 30th January. I've been training for a

couple of months to do this but it will be really hard!” More details here - https://

crowdfunding.justgiving.com/isobel-berry. Please support Isobel and her dad in their aim of raising £250.

Don’t feel blue that your Christmas decorations have been put away for another year and the last mince pie has

been eaten, as we have a Christmas 2016 activity to look forward to!

As in previous years, the PTA have secured front stalls seats for one night, Wednesday 14th December at great

rates for the 2016 family panto, Peter Pan at Woking Theatre. It may seem early to book, but this is a great offer

which is too good to miss to make great savings on the normal seat prices. And every ticket bought through us will

automatically contribute £4 to our school funds, so your children will also benefit.

For more information and to order tickets, see below.

appreciate it if you would take a moment to answer a
