As the Superintendent of Schools, I amexcited to improvethe SAFETY, SECURITYAN D ACADEMICS OFOUR STUDENTS INBEAVERTON! -Greg Paxton AI( ^
Why Now?
The district has fallen behindon capital improvements due to reduced funding bythe State of Michjgaaand the district cutting over 5 million dollars in expendituresover the past/TO year .̂ The district's aging bus fleet, roofs, and buildings are inneed to be reptacetTor repaired for the next generation of kids. The district hasno sinking fund to cover expenses to meet the needs of our maintenance costs. We are obligated to prepare our students for the 21st century. So let's keep ourdollars for the instruction of kids and let the bond maintain our capital improve-
ments.
Why not use the district's operating budget?
—Our Bond Proposalwill help maintain our general operating budget, so that it can
be used for instructional purposes within thedistrictrlfwe can free revenue from
the bond, which can be used for maintenance and facilities, it will allow the gen-
eral operating fund to focus on needs in the
classroom that directly affect kids in theirdaily instruction.

because of the excellent schools that we are blessed with, and I hope that thebrochure answered some of your questions and concerns. I know that every
