Musicians will have the opportunity to work with expert teachers to achieve a new level of playing, develop a passion for their repertoire, and develop leadership skills to be used in their own orchestra. Daily instruction will begin with sectional training and each day ends rehearsing together as a symphony orchestra. This program will give students tremendous inspiration and confidence while learning challenging repertoire. Public Concert: Thursday, August 9 6:00 pm Placement Audition: Friday, August 3 4:00-7:00 pm, by appointment only, to schedule call 262-670-0560 ext. 4. Join us for one hour a day to learn the basics of your instrument, during our week-long string camp. Students must provide their own instrument. (violin, viola, cello, and bass) Both string courses will culminate with a public concert on Thursday, August 9 at 6:00 pm in the Ruth A. Knoll Theater. Camp will focus on developing theater skills including work in stage movement, voice and speech, improvisation, Shakespeare, and acting theory. Students will work on technique through sketches and apply their new skills to create one finished portrait. Starting early from mud pies to sand castles, kids explore shape, texture, and form molded from earth. This four week course will allow students to develop their connection to clay through exploration of various hand-building techniques. Students will create, glaze, and finish pinch pots, coil pots, and slab pieces that are functional, sculptural or both. No experience needed, supplies included. 3-d MeTal enGravinG and MoldinG Wednesdays, August 1-15 • 5:30-6:30 pm Ages: 9-13 Tuition: $40 (cw) Work to create a 3-D floral arrangement with roses and lilies, while learning and using etching techniques in copper. Students will cut out the petals from copper sheeting and use pearl wire for flower centers. Final project will be placed into a small shadowbox frame ready to display. Supplies included. This technique based class will focus on developing proper strength and alignment in the entire foot and ankle. This is NOT a pointe class and dancers will NOT be dancing on pointe. Students may only enroll if they take Ballet III in conjunction with pre-pointe. Students will be moved to pointe work at the sole judgement of the instructor. Tuition: $42/session (ek)

balleT Within the ballet world there are several schools of style and methods. Our classes will integrate styles and technique from these different schools. Our ultimate goal is for each student to learn what their body is capable of and how to utilize his/her own strength.

The Schauer School of Dance was founded in January 2007 and focuses on building students’ dance abilities through the development of a strong technical foundation. Choosing a 4 or 8 week session is the perfect time to give dance a try or keep up with your routine.

plein air painTinG classThursdays, June 7-28 Time: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm • Tuition: $80 (fh)Registration Deadline: Thursday, May 24This four week workshop will concentrate on the fundamentals of landscape painting while exploring the beauty of the Southern Kettle Moraine. Learn outdoor painting techniques required in capturing the shifting light and color of the outdoors. Working in small-to mid-size format, paint several field studies with a focus on composition, value, color, and cohesion of the major masses. A portion of the instruction will take place in the studio with an emphasis on refining field studies or developing a larger work. This class is for students with current painting experience, but familiarity with outdoor painting is not a requirement. Instructor demonstrates in oil. Supplies not included; supply list given at time of registration.

absTracT - realisM open arT sTudioThursdays, June 7- July 19 (no class July 5)Time: 1:00-4:00 pm • Tuition: $123 (fh)Painting is a visual language of form, color, and line to create a composition which may or may not have any visual references in the world. Further develop your creativity and enjoy the company of other self-motivated artists in this master teacher guided studio. Receive critique of your present work or start new work and discover your hidden talent. Choose your subject and medium, and bring your own supplies. Suggested beginner supply list available upon request.

williaMsburG wiTh braid baskeTMonday, August 6 • 6:00-9:30 pm Tuition: $55 (tf)This basket is woven on a Williamsburg handle, 12” in diameter and 13” to the top of the handle. This basket is finished off with a braided rim. This is a basket for an intermediate weaver.

Dress comfortably and be ready to move.

Intermediate Ballroom • 7:00-7:45 pm Add to the foundation built in Beginning Ballroom. Learn more patterns and techniques on the frame, leading and following as well as an introduction to new dances like Tango, Swing, Cha-Cha, and Salsa. Beginning Ballroom or teacher approval needed to enroll.

Various exercises are used to ease inhibitions while allowing the participants to develop a working strategy for approaching a role.

June 18-23A special one-week intensive drama workshop for children entering grades 1-12. A fully staged and costumed musical adaptation of Rumpelstiltskin will showcase the talents of 50+ local youth. Those cast will rehearse for the week and perform Friday, June 22 and Saturday, June 23. Don’t miss this unique opportunity!

educaTion & inspiraTion FundThe Schauer Center’s Education & Inspiration Fund is available to provide need-based financial aid to prospective students to help overcome barriers to enrollment in Schauer Center classes or activities.

The E&I Fund is a self-sustaining fund independent of the Schauer Center’s operating budget. Interested persons or organizations can make donations through the Schauer Center to support the growth and development of this educational resource. Tuition Fees: Price includes registration and administrative costs.

Deadline for Registration: Please register two weeks prior to the start date for any given program. Enrollment levels are evaluated at this time and class may be cancelled if minimum enrollment is not met.

Multiple Class/Sibling Discount: If registering for more than one class or enrolling more than one family member in a session, you are eligible for a 10% discount. Participants must pay the FULL tuition fee for the class with the highest tuition and are entitled to a 10% discount on additional tuitions. Refund Policy: Notification of withdrawal and request for refunds must be submitted in writing to the Schauer Center. A 50% refund of the tuition in the form of a gift certificate will be in effect through the second class/rehearsal. After the second class, NO REFUNDS will be offered.

Class Size: All CSA classes carry a minimum/maximum class size that determines if the class will be offered. Classes not meeting the minimum may be cancelled. Maximum levels are determined by classroom space or instructor/student ratios and are subject to change.

Payment Plans: Payment plans may be arranged with the Schauer Center for any class over $100. However, a minimum of 1/4 of the tuition fee must be paid prior to the start of the first class/rehearsal. Payment plans must be paid with a credit or debit card, and completed agreement must be turned into the Schauer Center prior to the first day of class.

Tuition Assistance: Financial need based assistance is available on a first come first serve basis for eligible families. For an application, call 262-670-0560, ext. 204.

Student Absences: Classes or rehearsals missed by a student due to illness, scheduling conflicts or any other reason are not guaranteed a make-up class. Please notify the Schauer Center if you or your child will be missing class and to discuss available make-up options.

Teacher Absence: If a teacher is unable to teach a class/rehearsal, the Schauer Center reserves the right to have a qualified professional substitute teach the class or reschedule the class/rehearsal. In either case, students would be informed of the change when time allows. If a sub is unavailable the class will be rescheduled at a date/time that works for the majority. Refunds are not available for a missed make-up classes.

Waiting Area Policy: Creative Arts Studios - Adults and children may wait in the designated waiting area. Children should not be left unattended in this space. Food and drink are allowed. Schauer Center - Due to numerous activities, event set-up, and valuable artwork on display, the Schauer Center prohibits parents from waiting in the Gallery (second floor) after dropping children off for CSA class(es). If a parent chooses to stay on premises for the duration of a child’s class, the Schauer Center requests that parents wait on the lower lobby level.

Kettle Moraine Youth String Orchestra

Auditions: Friday, August 3 • 4:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, September 5 • 5:30-6:30 pmAuditions by appointment only.Director: Phil Scales The Kettle Moraine Youth String Orchestra is dedicated to pushing students to their ultimate potential, resulting in musical excellence. This is achieved by dividing students into two ensembles: Presto & Bravura Strings. Presto Strings is open to students in grades 5-8, have a minimum of two years playing experience or in Suzuki Book 2. Bravura Strings is open students with 3-5 years playing experience or in Suzuki Book 5 or higher. All interested students must be currently enrolled in their school orchestra or study with a private instructor. Join the Schauer Center and Stagekids Community Productions / North Shore Academy of the Arts, Inc. for the Little Mermaid! Experienced staff will take your child through the process of putting on a musical which culminates in four performances. These performances are complete with costumes, scenery, playbooks, lights, sound, and ACTION! All registered students will be cast in the production, but are strongly encouraged to participate in the audition process.

Program Goals and Objectives: • Intro to vocal projection, articulation, choreography, and acting.• Intro to appropriate and believable stage movement.• Fostering self-esteem and self-confidence.• To nurture friendships and to learn cooperatively.

Auditions: Thursday, September 6 • 4:30-9:00 pm Rehearsals: Thursdays, September 20 - December 20Technical and dress rehearsals will take place January 2-10.
