Developing, Supporting & Promoting the ArtsAs a non-profit, regional center for the arts, the Schauer Arts Center provides experiences that inspire creativity and connect people. We strive to be a vital resource that fosters, supports, and enriches the cultural, educational, and social well-being of our community.
Filled with culture and history, the Schauer Center was transformed from a canning factory built in 1919 into an architectural award-winning performing and visual arts center. Since opening in 2001, the Schauer Center presents professional touring performances in the Ruth A. Knoll Theater and regional artwork in the Suckow Family Art Gallery, and also serves as a home to our resident groups: Hartford City Band, Hartford Community Chorus, The Hartford Players, and the Kettle Moraine Fine Arts Guild.
We are a gathering place where people from all walks of life achieve a sense of belonging and benefit from enjoying and participating in the arts. Our year-round School of the Arts offers music, theater, dance, and visual arts education for all ages, levels, and visions. In addition, the Schauer Center is the perfect backdrop for a variety of special occasions and business functions that can be hosted throughout our facility.

THE RUTH A. KNOLL THEATER WELCOMES THE HIGH-CALIBER TALENT AND ARTISTRY OF
MUSICIANS, ACTORS, COMEDIANS, AND DANCERS WHO HAVE TOURED THE GLOBE.
ADD IN THE EXCITEMENT OF A LIVE AUDIENCE, AND YOU’VE CREATED A MEMORABLE, ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME EXPERIENCE.
SHARING OUR STORIES is this season’s theme. Whether told through song, dance, painting, or monologue; the arts provide amazing ways to share our stories. Each performance this
year will do just that —whether it’s the artist’s personal story, the stories of a particular culture or time in history, or a beloved story from Americana and more — stories will be shared all season long. To learn more about each story or artist, there’s a suggested reading list for each performance on the First National Bank of Hartford’s Mainstage Series. Visit your local library to start your journey into the 15th season!* The Schauer Arts Center carries its own amazing story. Did you know we’re in a former canning factory that was built nearly 100 years ago? Did you know we pull our core audience from a 40 mile radius around Hartford? Did you know we’re an independent non-profit organization that relies on your support to continue the work we do? In the late 1990s, Fred and Bea Schauer decided to create an arts center for their friends and neighbors to gather in, to share in artistic experiences, and socialize with one another. Their initial gift set the dream in motion and wonderful donors throughout the greater community contributed to make it a reality. Many donors continue to do so each year, ensuring the Schauer Center continues to thrive for generations to come. The support of our Friends over the years has allowed us to grow our facility and expand our programming to best serve you, your family, friends, and neighbors. The Schauer Arts Center wouldn’t be here without you. Your gifts are an investment that sees many returns through the over 40,000 smiling faces that enjoy our performances and events each year; through the students who learn and grow in our School of the Arts; through those we take artists to in senior care facilities, Boys & Girls Clubs, schools, and churches; and through the improved quality of life that you and all those around you experience just by the Schauer Center’s existence. Thank you for helping us reach 15 years. Let’s celebrate! —Brenda Johnston, Executive Director
*The Jack Russell Memorial Library in Hartford has the suggested books available throughout the season for your reading enjoyment.

Afghanistan and Iraq are brought
center stage as actors dramatize letters
written by soldiers serving in the Middle
East. Drawing inspiration from the New

Paul Cebar, and Willy Porter. When Peter’s mirthful, gravelly baritone combines with
Paul’s Midwestern soul and spoken English, along with Willy’s fiery fret work, it’s a wholly
original experience. Addressing each tune with true artistry, the trio’s playing ranges from
tender acoustic jazz to rootsy blues, and folk-infused rock.

a date! It’s a swirling sandstorm of famous
Arabian Tales from Ali Baba to Scheherazade,
and even Sinbad the Sailor, as Aladdin
journeys to find a magic lamp in a Cave
of (not-so-great) Wonders. Along his way
Aladdin seeks answers and advice from
wise genies, a powerful sultan, and his own
mother to find a way to meet the Princess.
However, even with the lamp in hand,
Aladdin will have to learn that it takes more
than a wish to make a good impression. Full
of memorable characters, from lost Penguins
to talking Palm Trees, this is an adventure
worthy of 1001 laughs. MCTInc.orgAdult $14 Student $10 Child $8 Lap $5
