    The object of the GSICC is to fulfill a very important publicfunction of sensitizing the public to gender issues and to addresscomplaints made with regard to sexual harassment in the precincts ofthe Supreme Court.

    The Chairperson had a preliminary discussion with Justice MadanB Lokur and Ms. Rachna Gup ta on 2nd December, 2013 to work outthe modalities for the effective implementation of the GenderSensitization and Sexual Harassment of Women at the Supreme Courtof India Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal Regulations, 2013. Itwas decided to convene the First Meeting of the GSICC on 9/12/2013 inthe Committee Hall, Judges Chamber Area, Supreme Court of India, todiscuss these issues.Internal Sub Committee

    In the First Meeting of the GSICC held on 9/12/2013, an InternalSub Committee of three members was consti tu ted in terms of Clause 91 of the said Regulat ions. The three members a re Ms. Indu Malhotra,Senior Advocate, Mr. Nageshwar Rao, Senior Advocate and Ms. BhartiAli Co-Director, HAQ

    Two complaints received by the GSICC from aggrieved womenlawyers have been submitted to the Internal Sub Committee.

    The Internal Sub Committee initiated the process of examining thetwo complaints. As far as the Complainant in GSICC No 1/2013 isconcerned her statement was video recorded on 12.12.2013. TheComplainant in GSICC No 2/2013 appeared on 16.12.2013 and thevideo recording of her statement was deferred at her request . Both thecomplaints are pending disposal with the internal sub committee. olunteers

    As required by Regulation 7 2 v the GSICC appointed five femaleand five male Volunteers from amongst the members of the SupremeCourt Bar. They are: Ms Nisha Bagchi2. Ms V. Mohana

    For training the Volunteers and other target groups it is necessaryto requisition the services of some expert trainers. The expert trainerswill soon be finalized after taking their experience into consideration.

    ounsellingand meditationThe procedure to be a do pt ed i n case a n aggrieved woman requires

    counselling and mediation under Regulation 7 3 was referred to Ms.Asha Menon, Member-Secretary, NALSA and Ms. Abha Singhal Joshi,the Director of MARG, NGO.Sensitization and publicity

    Ms. Abha Singhal Joshi ha s consented to extend her help and toshare h er experience for devising a strategy as required b y C la us e 7 17 2 [except 7 2 iii ] for publicity, creating awareness and holdingseminars/workshops for sensitizing persons working in the SupremeCourt precincts.Financial issues

    In accordance with Regulations 18 b and c a proposal was placedbefore Hon ble the Chief Justice of India for allocating Rs. 50,000/ Rupees Fifty Thousand only initially for the effective implementation ofthe said Regulations.

    The Registrar Admn.I Shri M.K. Hanjura vide order dated20/12/2013 has requested the GSICC to work out t he r eq ui re me nt offunds for implementation o f th e said Regulations d ur in g t he coming yearand inform the concerned Cash and Account Section.
