PLAN

1. Environmental problems of Ukraine.

2. The ways of solving environmental problems.

3. Conclusions.

Page 3: Save ukraine 1 (2)

WHAT IS THE POLLUTION? It is a high concentration of different chemicals or energy

which is higher than it must be.

Ukraine is the most unsuccessful in the ecological relation in Europe.

Page 4: Save ukraine 1 (2)

AIR POLLUTION• The main centres of pollution are such cities as Uzhgorod,

Mariupol and Donetsk.

• A high level of the pollution in these cities is caused, mainly by a considerable concentration of formaldehyde, dioxide of nitrogen, phenol, fluoric hydrogen, carbon oxide.

• But emissions from motor transport in the cities are the main source of polluting substances in the atmosphere.

WATER POLLUTION• Comprehensive investigations

of the marine environment showed that viability of the Black Sea worsens.

• At vessel accident, tons of oil were poured out to the Black Sea. The area of an oil slick makes more than 840 square metres.

• 20 countries of Europe merge the waste to the Black Sea, including through the Danube and the Dnipro.

DEFORESTATION• During the last decades

cutting down of the trees in the Carpathians and Western Ukraine increased very much. Floods are the result of it.

• Cutting down leads to increasing carbon dioxide in the air. The problem of global warming becomes actual.

EXHAUSTION OF SOIL• Ukraine has been famous for black fertile soil for a long

time.

• Soil is a resource which must be restored. It’s an expensive and long process.

Chernobyl accident

Our manking knows about Chornobyl catastrophe which took place at the nuclear power plant on April 26,1986. The reactor was destroyed and as a result of it, a large amount of radioactive elements was thrown out into our environment.

CHORNOBYL’S CONSEQUENCES• Round the nuclear power plant the 30-kelometre exclusion

zone is created.

• More than 200 throusand square kilometres, about 70% of the territory of Ukraine, Belarus and Russia are polluted too much.

• Woods are polluted too. A high content of caesium in lichen and meat of deer in Russia, Norway, Finland and Sweden is noted.

THE WAYS OF SOLVING THE PROBLEMS

improvement of the solid waste

management in the coastal zone

reduction of pollution from point

sources

of atmosphere pollution

pollution control of rivers’ input

prevention of emergency

situation in the region

CONCLUSIONS

Creating our project we’ve worked on a lot of information, explored some important ecological problems, suggested the ways of available solving of them.
