1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

M/s. Shree Shyam Inorganics Pvt. Ltd. has proposed for setting up manufacturing

unit of Acid Slurry (LABSA) at J.L.No. 7, Dag No. 15, Bhagabatipur, P.S. Sankrail,

Kandua Gram Panchayet, District. Howrah – 711302, West Bengal. The Khatian

number is 2590. At Present the Company engages in chemicals Trading activity in

which mainly procuring through Imports from so many countries and caters to

different Industry clients. Now company has decided to come in manufacturing

field and set up a manufacturing unit of Acid Slurry (LABSA). The company will

manufacture those products complying with the international quality standards.

Acid Slurry (LABSA) is a detergents active anionic in nature. It forms an excellent

raw material for Dish-Washing Liquid/Cake/Powder, Laundry soaps, Personal care

products likewise bubble bath, toilet cleaners, floor cleaners and for Synthetic

detergent Powder/cake/Liquid. The company’s registered office is situated at 27/1,

Armenian Street, Kolkata – 700001, West Bengal.

Four reaction vessels will be introduced to produce Acid Slurry (1400 MT/month)

and Spent Sulphuric acid (1180 MT/month) considering 25 working days/month.

The manufacturing unit will be located on a freehold land of 0.33 acre or 1335.463

sqm.

2. INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT /BACKGROUND INFORMATION

2.1. Identification of the project and project proponent.

Acid Slurry (LABSA) is a detergents active anionic in nature. There are many other

detergent actives such as A.O.S., Fatty alchohol, Non-Ionic etc. But due to cost

effectiveness Acid Slurry (LABSA) dominates the detergent active market. There is

a growing demand of acid slurry. But, there is a huge gap of supply of raw

materials in the eastern part. This project will be a small attempt to supply that

market in eastern India. Global demands for this product are increasing rapidly.

Looking the expected demand of these products in global market as well as in

domestic market, the proposed projects have acceptability in the local and

international market. So, the management has proposed for setting up

manufacturing unit of Acid Slurry (LABSA).

The plant will propose the Following Machinery and Plant Equipments:

2.3. Need for the Project & Importance to the Country

High demand of Acid Slurry (LABSA) is due to their chemical properties and usage.

Acid Slurry (LABSA) is a detergents active anionic in nature. This is widely used in

several end-user industries due to cost effectiveness. There are many other

Page 9: Satyam Plywood Industries SHREE SHYAM INORGANICS …environmentclearance.nic.in/writereaddata/FormB/TOR/P… ·  · 2017-03-13Satyam Plywood Industries Vill.- Haldibari, District

detergent actives such as A.O.S., Fatty alchohol, Non-Ionic etc. But due to cost

effectiveness Acid Slurry (LABSA) controls the detergent active market.

The product under the scheme is used mainly to manufacture synthetic detergent

and it forms an excellent raw material for Dish-Washing Liquid/cake/Powder,

Laundry soaps, Personal care products likewise bubble bath, toilet cleaners, floor

cleaners and for Synthetic detergent Powder/Cake/Liquid. It is used in Anionic

specialty formulations. In other Industries like textile industries it is used as

mercerising or washing agent. It is also used for increasing the surface area of

distempers. Spent acid is used by manufacturers of Alum, Ferrous Sulphates,

Super Phosphates etc.

Keeping in mind the glowing requirements of the clients, the Manufacturers,

Exporters and Suppliers are offering quality Acid Slurry (LABSA). Owing to these

enormous usages, the suppliers, exporters and sellers offer it at reasonable prices.

Rapid growth in Asia-Pacific's infrastructure sector poses enormous opportunity for

the Acid Slurry market. The competitive environment of the acid slurry market is

also providing opportunity for manufacturers.

2.4. Demand and Supply gap

Rising global demand in various industrial applications is one of the major drivers

for growth of the Acid Slurry (LABSA) market. Demand is more than production,

hence consumption of Acid Slurry (LABSA) is increasing day by day. This is a

Page 10: Satyam Plywood Industries SHREE SHYAM INORGANICS …environmentclearance.nic.in/writereaddata/FormB/TOR/P… ·  · 2017-03-13Satyam Plywood Industries Vill.- Haldibari, District

Page No. 10 PSCPL, KOLKATA

profitable industry, the raw materials and machinery being indigenously available.

Additionally, increasing demand for Acid Slurry (LABSA) from different industries is

fuelling the market.

The products have very high demand in Synthetic Detergent Industry and other

Chemical Industries. Competition in the Indian market swells in recent years. This

had many companies opting out of low-margin segments, as competition resulted

in lower prices. A gap between demand and supply is created. Such notable price

hikes take place when there is removal of some of the key competitors, which

leads to demand override and as a consequence prices start soaring in a free-

pricing market. The proposed new unit will to some extent help to meet this

consumption indigenously fulfil the demand supply gap.

2.5. Imports Vs. Indigenous production

The state and pattern of growth of the economy determine the LABSA

requirement. The requirements may be fulfilled either through indigenous

production and/or through imports. Indian market is open and big that is why

every kind of import is active. Indian technology has been updated at par with

international standards. The working environment in India has also changed

enormously. It is not possible for a developing country to import huge quantities of

LABSA because of foreign exchange constraints where as it is better for a country

Page 11: Satyam Plywood Industries SHREE SHYAM INORGANICS …environmentclearance.nic.in/writereaddata/FormB/TOR/P… ·  · 2017-03-13Satyam Plywood Industries Vill.- Haldibari, District

to be self-sufficient in its requirements. Proposed products manufacturing in the

country will be very much economical compare to Imports of the same.

2.6. Export Possibility

There is a huge demand of the proposed products in the export market. There may

be huge opportunities to become a global supplier of quality LABSA. Also there are

real abundant market opportunities in the neighboring regions of Asia, Africa and

the Middle East.

2.7. Domestic/Export Markets

The end products will be sold in domestic market and would be largely exported to

the Regulated International Market as per demand.

2.8. Employment Generation (Direct & Indirect) due to the project

Total manpower will be 17, details are given in Table below.

4.5. Existing Infrastructure

This is a new project. The land is already converted into Factory Land and muted

in company’s name. The land is at clear possession.

4.6. Soil Classification

The alluvial soils are the dominant soil type in Howrah District. The district is

occupied by the thick pile of unconsolidated sediments laid down by the Ganga-

Brahmaputra system. The unconsolidated sediments are made up of clay, silt,

sand and gravel of Quaternary age overlying Mio-Pliocene sediments. Fresh water

aquifers occur under confined condition.
