After last season's highly successful "The MusicMan," we welcome back Mr. Plato for his secondWVLOA production. He has a long list of directorialcredits, including "Wait Until Dark," "TheInnocents," "Haunting of Hill House," "PlazaSuite," "Owl and the Pussycat." In addition .to"Music Man" his last season included "We HaveAlways Lived in the Castle" for Community Players,and "Mame" for the Metropolitan Operetta Guild.He lives in San Jose with his wife Jo, and their 3children and is an Account Executive with KSJOradio.
PHILIP GARAY - Musical Director
PAT DEVLIN (BILL Y)
This is Mr. Garay's debut as Musical Director withWVLOA. An accomplished musician, singer, actorand dancer, he has been active in Bay Area musicand theatrical circles for many years, having touredprofessionally with the San Francisco OperaCompany at. the tender age of 10! He is presentlythe chairman of the Music Department at SerraHigh School, San Mateo.
BARBARA VALENTI - Choreographer
Barbara is no stranger to WVLOA. She waschoreographer for our production of "TheUnsinkable Molly Brown" and "Fiddler onthe Roof." Other local productions include "KissMe Kate" and most recently "Of Thee ISing."Prior to her move to the Bay Area she was Directorand Choreographer of the Valente TV Dancers,performing on Sacramento TV, and at Lake Tahoewith George Liberace.
STELLA LOFF WOOD - Choral Director
Also making her debut with WVLOA, Stell's variedexperience includes years as a concert pianist,newspaper music critic, director of church choirsand community choruses, teacher of Public SchoolMusic, English and Drama at Elementary throughCollege levels. She has had her own weekly pianoradio program and is currently teaching piano inLos Gatos.
This is Pat's second appearance with WVLOA,having portrayed Charlie Cowell in last season's"The Music Man." Pat's credits include Ambrose in"Hello Dolly," Fred in "Oklahoma," Billis in"South Pacific" (for which he won Best SupportingActor award) and Mike in the original Rock Show"Vibrations." He is a member of San Jose MusicTheater's tour group, the Entertainers. Beside hisacting and singing talents he is also a song writer,and plays guitar and bass.
KATHY BULLOCK (JULIE)
Kathy, too, is appearing in her second WVLOAshow. She was our Marian the Librarian in "MusicMan." She has also played the lead roles in "SheLoves Me," and "Sound of Music." She is a musicmajor at San Jose State University and teaches choirand English at James Lick High School, San Jose.
FAY DRUMMOND (CARRIE)
BILL COWL (MR. SNOW)
Mr. Cowl's credits are too numerous to list: he hasperformed with the St. Louis Light Opera, LosAngeles Civic Light Opera, and San Diego's StarlightTheatre. Bill has appeared with such show biz greatsas Bob Hope, Bing Crosby;" Andre Previn, PhilHarris, and performed at night clubs such as BocciBall, Bimbo's 365 in San Francisco, TheThunderbird and The Flamingo in Las Vegas.Locally he was last seen in the lead role of Tony in"Most Happy Fella," prior to which he portrayedthe Captain in WVLOA's "HMS Pinafore," and"Here's Love."
In her first appearance. for WVLOA, MissDrummond adds yet another jewel to thisscintillating cast. She is the comedy half of theprofessional duo "Salli and Fay," has portrayedNellie in "South' Pacific," Gladys in "PajamaGame," Ado Annie in "Oklahoma." Fay hasprovided the vocal background for the "MissCalifornia Pageant:' and appeared for 7 months asthe featured vocalist at the Holiday Inn, Santa Cruz.
PAT MC CAUGHEY (NETTIE)
Making her first appearance for WVLOA, Pat hasbeen active in the Saratoga Drama Group, whereamong other things she was producer for "HelloDolly" and Musical Director for "Camelot." Mother-of two boys and two girls, Pat is a graduate of theUniversity of Arizona and prior to moving toSaratoga taught Public School Music in Tucson.
jJ. FRANCIS RESO (JIGGER)
In Southern California where he played in "BillyBudd," Joe was stage manager for "Hedda Gabler,"and worked with the Pasadena Playhouse. He hasappeared in several WVLOA productions, as BillSykes in "Oliver," Sir Harry in "Once Upon aMattress," and most recently as Perchik in "Fiddleron the Roof." Productions in which he hasappeared locally include "My Fair Lady:'"Oklahoma," "Camelot," "Apple Tree," "ThreePenny Opera" and others.
