POWER7 sets new scales

8-times the scaling:Power 770/780 offer twice, Power 795 256-core eight times the number of cores as the largest Power6

570

X-times the capacity: Power 770/780 offer more than twice, Power 795 x-times the throughput of the largest Power 570.

Up to Twice the performance:Power 780 / 795 performance per core is over twice the

Power 570 32-core

x-times the memory: - x-times the physical memory of the Power 570 - Active Memory ExpansionTM * enables up to twice the

effective memory compared to what is physically installed

Twice the energy efficiency: Power 780 / 795 offer over twice the performance per watt (up to 3 times) than the most efficient Power 570

Twice the cores for the same price: Buy twice the cores with the Power 770 and pay less than a comparable POWER6 based Power 570

POWER7 sets new scales

Virtualization without Limits increases flexibility and reduces costs: Expanded system capability teamed with PowerVM’sperformance, scalability and flexibility

Workload-optimizing systems improve service levels with assured performance:PowerVM, Intelligent Threads and TurboCore mode enable you to optimize the performance of your

workloads in a virtualized environment

Consolidation that delivers exponential ROI:Industry’s leading performance, scalability and

virtualization now unbounded with DB2 pureScale

Dynamic Energy Optimization that balances performance and efficiency: >3X increased performance per watt, new EnergyScale

features integrated with Active Energy Manager

Resiliency without Downtime: Non-disruptive application upgrades from POWER6 and the improvements to the road for Continuous Availability

The SAP Business Suite applications and the underlying SAP NetWeaver technology are supported on various

database and operating systems ("platforms") as described in the SAP Netweaver Platforms Availability Matrix

("PAM"). The SAP NetWeaver PAM documents the broad platform coverage of the SAP Application Servers and the

more restricted platform coverage of selected additional technology components (SAP livecache, SAP TREX, Adobe

Document Services.. ).

It is SAP's objective to release all SAP Business Suite and related SAP NetWeaver deliverables such as new releases,

enhancement packages and support packages synchronously for all supported platforms. IBM DB2 for i and IBM i as one of these platforms is available to customers since 1995 and there are no plans to change this for current

and future deliverables of SAP Business Suite and SAP NetWeaver.

Most of SAP's technology components are supported on IBM i as on other platforms and for the few unsupported

components SAP and IBM recommend to use Windows as supplementary operating system. All of the SAP Business

Suite and SAP NetWeaver deliverables on IBM i have even been available to customers during early product

introduction ("RampUp"). The utilization of new release of IBM i is usually certified for all releases of SAP products on

IBM i in Mainstream Maintenance only 4 weeks after IBM General Availability.

A joint SAP and IBM platform team is responsible for optimal adaption of SAP technology to IBM i and optimal utilization of IBM technology with SAP. This team is strongly committed to functional completeness, timely

availability maximum quality and optimal support of SAP products on IBM i.
