9 Ways to Ramp Up Your Content Marketing in 2018

Content marketing is one of the most pow-erful, effective ways to attract customers and clients, strengthen your brand and differenti-ate your business. If you’re not already creat-ing content, or if you need to give your con-tent strategy a jumpstart, the beginning of a new year is the perfect time to do it. Here are 9 ways to ramp up your content marketing in 2018.

1. Define your Target Audience

You may have already defined the target audi-ence for your content as part of your overall marketing strategy. If not, put that at the top of your content to-do list in 2018. Without a clear sense of who you’re trying to reach and how you can serve them, your marketing strategy will be unfocused and less-than-ef-fective.

Once you have a target audience in mind, with specific customer personas you’re trying to reach, it becomes easier to create relevant content that speaks directly to their needs and interests

2. Create a Content Schedule and Calendar

A strong content marketing strategy includes a consistent publishing schedule for your content. It’s better to post once per month than to post three times in one week, then not post again for months. Figure out a content schedule that works for you and your team then create a content calendar so you know when you’ll publish. This will help you stay on-track with your strategy.

3. Brainstorm Dozens of Content Ideas

Once you know who you’re trying to reach with your content and how often you’ll pub-

lish, brainstorm dozens of content ideas. Ar-eas to brainstorm include what problems you can help your target customers solve and the benefits of using your product. Do an initial braindump of potential content ideas then pull out the best ones and schedule them on your content calendar.

4. Create a Social Media Strategy

Creating content is just one step in a content strategy. Once the content is created, you need to share it with the world. Social media is a great way to share your content, but it can be overwhelming to keep up with best practices for all the different platforms, in-cluding Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snap-chat, LinkedIn and Pinterest. Choose two or three platforms to focus on and decide how often you’ll post, what type of posts to share on social media and what tone and style you want to convey. Look to existing social me-dia content to see what types of posts your target audiences engages with.

5. Think about SEO

Search engine optimization (SEO) is an important part of content marketing. The idea is to strategically place your target key-word phrases into your content so your tar-get audience finds you in Google searches. Key place to put your keywords include the headline, the first paragraph, image names and subheadlines.

6. Create Strong Headlines for your Content

Headlines have an important job in your content. In addition to boosting SEO, they’re also the best way to attract potential readers to your content. In our current digital envi-ronment where people scroll quickly through feeds and only click on content that catches our eye, it’s essential to make your headlines compelling and relevant to your target au-

dience. Create several potential headlines for each post then choose the strongest one. This will help you distill your message and strengthen your headline appeal.

7. Develop Strong Calls to Action

Getting someone to read your content is nice, but getting them to subscribe to your newsletter, contact you, visit your business or otherwise engage with your business is much better. The best way to do this is with a strong call to action (CTA) where you invite read-ers to take do something. Figure out what you most want readers to do once they’re reading your content (I suggest getting them onto your email list) and put that invite as an engaging CTA on your website and in your content.

8. Distribute your Content

As mentioned above, you should definitely share your content on social media. You can also share it via newsletter, by directly email-ing industry influencers and asking them to share it, on your homepage, and in any pod-casts or videos you do.

9. Enlist Help

If content creation, content strategy or con-tent sharing are not your strength or interest, get someone to help you. It’s important to pri-oritize your content marketing and there are lots of professionals, including social media pros, freelance writers, content strategists, newsletter creators and more that can help you ramp up your content marketing in 2018.

Can Sales and Marketing Be EvilSLingSHoT To SuCCESS

by Andy Van Valer

Have you ever met someone who has the skill to share a story that moves people, or who

spreads or influences people and creates action? Good marketing can cause people to buy some-thing that they wouldn’t have bought otherwise, change their thoughts or opinion, or cast a vote for someone they might not have ever consid-ered.

Lets face it, marketing works! So, does that make marketing or sales evil? It is a debate I find myself in all the time.

My thoughts are that marketing is a great tool, but used wrong, just like anything else, and it can be evil.

I think it’s evil to persuade kids to eat food that is known to be bad for them or to start smoking, to cynically manipulate the electoral or political process, to grandstand an opportunity, or lie to people in ways that cause disastrous side effects. I think it’s evil to sell a patient medicine when an effective natural solution is available. I think it’s evil to come up with new ways to make obesity acceptable so you can make a few more bucks. I think it’s evil to tell people you make $10,000 a

month residual income when it is coming from selling a business and getting a bonus for doing so.

Marketing is great when it persuades people to stay in better health by stop smoking, get out a register to vote or move people towards a cause. Marketing is extremely powerful when it sells a product to someone who discovers more joy or more productivity because they bought it. Mar-keting is fantastic when it elects someone who changes the community for the better.

On a call today, we talked about standing up for what is right. Isn’t it immoral not to? It’s immoral to rob someone’s house and burn it to the ground, but is it immoral to market them into foreclosure? Well, if marketing works, if it’s worth the time and money, then I don’t think it matters a bit if someone’s just doing their job. It’s still wrong.

I recall a conversation a year ago where a title person was telling me about some of the abuses she thought were going on. When I asked her who she notified, she said she didn’t notify any-one because that was bad for business.

Just like every tool, the impact comes from the person who is using it, not the tool. Marketing

has more reach, with more speed than it has ever had before.

In the current economic times, there are many people abusing the tool. For me, marketing works for society when the marketer and con-sumer are both aware of what’s happening and are both satisfied with the final outcome. I don’t think it’s evil to make someone happy by selling them a home. Yet, on the other hand, swindling someone out of their house in order to make a sales commission certainly is. Just because you can market something doesn’t mean you should.

You’ve got the power, so you’re responsible, regardless of what your boss tells you to do. The good news is, that I’m not in charge of what is evil and what is not. You, your customers and their neighbors are.

I put my bet on ethical marketing and believe it will eventually defeat the kind that depends on deception and greed. n

The undersigned caused said Notice of Default and Election to Sell to be recorded in the county where the real property is located. NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should un-derstand that there are risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auc-tioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstand-ing liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, ei-ther of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the Cali-fornia Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been post-poned, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call (844) 477-7869 or visit this Internet Web site WWW.STOXPOSTING.COM, using the file number assigned to this case 044495-CA. Informa-tion about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be reflected in the telephone information or on the Internet Web site. The best way to verify postponement information is to attend the scheduled sale.
