Four Chamber members came together to co-host our
June Mixer and help guests jump right into Summer
with a BBQ bash! San Marino Plumbing, Titan
Travel, Visage Salon and Joanna’s Floral Expressions
opened up their parking lot and threw a big party for the
Chamber. Michael and Franco Mele [Bella Italia] fired up
the grill and our hosts treated everyone to grilled Italian
sausage sandwiches. An array of sides filled the tables and
what’s a summertime bbq without ice cream sundaes!
Kristine Sansevieri [Visage] scooped up the flavors as
everyone chose their own toppings to complete their
dessert. Business friendships were renewed and new
connections made while everyone enjoyed the fabulous
sounds of DJ Leo Cachu who provided the music.
Titan Travel led the parade of raffle prizes provid-
ing many travel gifts for lucky winners. Raffle prizes were
aplenty and compliments of: Titan Travel, Visage,Joanna’s Floral Expressions, Pasadena Service FederalCredit Union, Hodge Podge and FremontCentre Theatre. [Contd. on pg 7]

A very small group gathered this year for our annual
OKTOBERFEST. Despite having to move our location
to the Thurnher House this year, those who attended
enjoyed the festive atmosphere.
Delicious Brats, Kraut, and German beer helped to
bring a taste of Germany to San Marino. Guests enjoyed the
live music provided by Karl, our resident accordian enthusiast
who has been playing at our event the past 3 years. Hats off
to Joanna Jimenez [Joanna’s Floral Expressions] for decorat-
ing all our tables with gorgeous Fall arrangements.
A big thank you to our host- Southern California
Edison for making our evening possible, and to Rita Rodriguez
for making all the details fall into place. Special thanks to
Michael Mele [Bella Italia] for providing us with cocktail
tables and linens- he even delivered them!
We hope to be back at the Old Mill next year with
our regular big crowd on hand!

President’s Message........by Sandra Troup
Dear Members;
Hard to believe that we are coming tothe end of yet another year, and my reign asPresident.
I cannot begin to say that I would not
have been able to do the job without the
supporting cast that I had. Without fail, our
Office Manager Rita Rodriguez has been my
right hand. Sometimes, single-handedly
making sure that the wheels on the bus kept
moving.
The April Spring Fling would not
have come to fruition without Rita’s
dedication. I had the idea, but she MADE it
happen. Thank you Rita for all that you do for
our members!
A hard-working Board, who through
this difficult economy that we are all trying to
survive in, continues to brainstorm ideas that
will bring more value to our members, keep
our costs down and serve our membership.
They represent the Chamber in various City
functions, and they do so without hesitation.
I cannot thank those who served on
my Board of Directors enough for their
continued support. Marci Donovan, Wallace
Lee, Ceil Mortimer, Pete Loeffler, Joanna
Jimenez, Gail Roque, Debra Graynom-Daly,
Brian Baretto, Stewart Rogers, Dioni Rovello,
Nick Maza, Dina Lopez and Steve Johnson.
You all know that it’s all about
social networking these days, and I thank
Anne Turk and Chris Datwyler for their
continued efforts to make sure that the
Chamber is always up to speed.
Chris not only created our website
years ago, but he continues to keep it up and
running and our information current.
Anne continues to make sure that the
Green Sheet lives on. Without hesitation she
puts together our monthly newsletter and gets
the information to you. The Chamber
wouldn’t have a Facebook presence without
her continued dedication to making sure that
we are up to speed in the social networking
world. I thank both Chris and Anne for their
continued support of the Chamber.
And last, but certainly not least OUR
MEMBERS! We have SUPER people involved
in this organization, and when called on they
answer! Over the past two years we have
called on the following for their support, and
they stepped up each and every time going
above and beyond. My special thanks to:

have flowers to brighten our events. She
donates each and every one, and we cannot

Membership Dues
Effective January 1st
In an effort to streamline our membership dues
billing, and avoid unnecessary costs, the Chamber
is making a few changes effective January 1, 2012.
ALL members will now be moved to an annual
billing based on the FISCAL year [January-December],
rather than the month in which they joined the
Chamber. This will allow our Office Manager to focus
time throughout the year on Chamber events and
serving members needs. Yearly dues statements will
be sent out December 1st and due January 1 of each
year. Your dues will be considered
This new billing will be effective
. Members who join throughout the year, or who
have recently renewed their membership will have
their fees pro-rated. Please have patience with us as
we move to this new system. The majority of
Chambers, and civic organizations have been using
this billing cycle for years. We hope that the system
will transition smoothly.
At this time, we will also be implementing a
slight fee increase. The Chamber has not raised its
membership fees in over 8 years, and continues to be
the LOWEST membership dues in a local Chamber.
The majority of Chambers charge a base fee of $150-
$200 PLUS the dues for total number of employees of
the business, with a minimum 3% increase each year.
We continue to be the lowest in the area.
We are committed to serving our members,
and would like to remind you to get the most of your
membership by participating in Chamber activities. If
you’re not available for our monthly Mixers, send your
Manager or employee representative to make sure
your business name is always in the mix. Donate
services or raffle prizes to advertise your business,
make sure that all your business info is given to the
Green Sheet. Sales, special events, trunk shows,
awards etc. It’s about YOU our members, but we
can’t include it IF we don’t know about it!

decided to hang up his Business owner hat, and sold
Oak Knoll Barbershop.
Jose assures me that he is not going anywhere yet.
He will continue to rent a station at Oak Knoll Barbershop,
working 4 days a week to serve his clients, and as always will
continue to be an active member in the Chamber.
Jose sold his shop to employee Evita Flores, who has
been working at there for 6 years. They will now switch roles,
but continue the tradition of service that has always been at
Oak Knoll Barbershop.

Asmall group of members came together to celebrate
the milestones of many members. They enjoyed the
opportunity to network with one another over a
leisurely breakfast.
Board of Directors, Pete Loeffler, Gail Roque and
Joanna Jimenez represented the Chamber in the absence of
President Sandra Troup. Pete did the honors of presenting our
honorees with their certificates.
Dora Liang of Sweet & Savory provided breakfast for
everyone and Office Manager Rita Rodriguez set the tables with
Chamber mugs for all the attendees to enjoy.

After 23 years of service to San Marino, Jose Guzman
decided to hang up his Business owner hat, and sold
Oak Knoll Barbershop.
Jose assures me that he is not going anywhere yet.
He will continue to rent a station at Oak Knoll Barbershop,
working 4 days a week to serve his clients, and as always will
continue to be an active member in the Chamber.
Jose sold his shop to employee Evita Flores, who has
been working at there for 6 years. They will now switch roles,
but continue the tradition of service that has always been at
Oak Knoll Barbershop.

President’s Message........by Sandra Troup
Dear Members;
Hard to believe that we are coming tothe end of yet another year, and my reign asPresident.
I cannot begin to say that I would not
have been able to do the job without the
supporting cast that I had. Without fail, our
Office Manager Rita Rodriguez has been my
right hand. Sometimes, single-handedly
making sure that the wheels on the bus kept
moving.
The April Spring Fling would not
have come to fruition without Rita’s
dedication. I had the idea, but she MADE it
happen. Thank you Rita for all that you do for
our members!
A hard-working Board, who through
this difficult economy that we are all trying to
survive in, continues to brainstorm ideas that
will bring more value to our members, keep
our costs down and serve our membership.
They represent the Chamber in various City
functions, and they do so without hesitation.
I cannot thank those who served on
my Board of Directors enough for their
continued support. Marci Donovan, Wallace
Lee, Ceil Mortimer, Pete Loeffler, Joanna
Jimenez, Gail Roque, Debra Graynom-Daly,
Brian Baretto, Stewart Rogers, Dioni Rovello,
Nick Maza, Dina Lopez and Steve Johnson.
You all know that it’s all about
social networking these days, and I thank
Anne Turk and Chris Datwyler for their
continued efforts to make sure that the
Chamber is always up to speed.
Chris not only created our website
years ago, but he continues to keep it up and
running and our information current.
Anne continues to make sure that the
Green Sheet lives on. Without hesitation she
puts together our monthly newsletter and gets
the information to you. The Chamber
wouldn’t have a Facebook presence without
her continued dedication to making sure that
we are up to speed in the social networking
world. I thank both Chris and Anne for their
continued support of the Chamber.
And last, but certainly not least OUR
MEMBERS! We have SUPER people involved
in this organization, and when called on they
answer! Over the past two years we have
called on the following for their support, and
they stepped up each and every time going
above and beyond. My special thanks to:

Changes In
Membership Dues
Effective January 1st
In an effort to streamline our membership dues
billing, and avoid unnecessary costs, the Chamber
is making a few changes effective January 1, 2012.
ALL members will now be moved to an annual
billing based on the FISCAL year [January-December],
rather than the month in which they joined the
Chamber. This will allow our Office Manager to focus
time throughout the year on Chamber events and
serving members needs. Yearly dues statements will
be sent out December 1st and due January 1 of each
year. Your dues will be considered
This new billing will be effective
. Members who join throughout the year, or who
have recently renewed their membership will have
their fees pro-rated. Please have patience with us as
we move to this new system. The majority of
Chambers, and civic organizations have been using
this billing cycle for years. We hope that the system
will transition smoothly.
At this time, we will also be implementing a
slight fee increase. The Chamber has not raised its
membership fees in over 8 years, and continues to be
the LOWEST membership dues in a local Chamber.
The majority of Chambers charge a base fee of $150-
$200 PLUS the dues for total number of employees of
the business, with a minimum 3% increase each year.
We continue to be the lowest in the area.
We are committed to serving our members,
and would like to remind you to get the most of your
membership by participating in Chamber activities. If
you’re not available for our monthly Mixers, send your
Manager or employee representative to make sure
your business name is always in the mix. Donate
services or raffle prizes to advertise your business,
make sure that all your business info is given to the
Green Sheet. Sales, special events, trunk shows,
awards etc. It’s about YOU our members, but we
can’t include it IF we don’t know about it!

Four Chamber members came together to co-host our
June Mixer and help guests jump right into Summer
with a BBQ bash! San Marino Plumbing, Titan
Travel, Visage Salon and Joanna’s Floral Expressions
opened up their parking lot and threw a big party for the
Chamber. Michael and Franco Mele [Bella Italia] fired up
the grill and our hosts treated everyone to grilled Italian
sausage sandwiches. An array of sides filled the tables and
what’s a summertime bbq without ice cream sundaes!
Kristine Sansevieri [Visage] scooped up the flavors as
everyone chose their own toppings to complete their
dessert. Business friendships were renewed and new
connections made while everyone enjoyed the fabulous
sounds of DJ Leo Cachu who provided the music.
Titan Travel led the parade of raffle prizes provid-
ing many travel gifts for lucky winners. Raffle prizes were
aplenty and compliments of: Titan Travel, Visage,Joanna’s Floral Expressions, Pasadena Service FederalCredit Union, Hodge Podge and FremontCentre Theatre. [Contd. on pg 7]

A very small group gathered this year for our annual
OKTOBERFEST. Despite having to move our location
to the Thurnher House this year, those who attended
enjoyed the festive atmosphere.
Delicious Brats, Kraut, and German beer helped to
bring a taste of Germany to San Marino. Guests enjoyed the
live music provided by Karl, our resident accordian enthusiast
who has been playing at our event the past 3 years. Hats off
to Joanna Jimenez [Joanna’s Floral Expressions] for decorat-
ing all our tables with gorgeous Fall arrangements.
A big thank you to our host- Southern California
Edison for making our evening possible, and to Rita Rodriguez
for making all the details fall into place. Special thanks to
Michael Mele [Bella Italia] for providing us with cocktail
tables and linens- he even delivered them!
We hope to be back at the Old Mill next year with
our regular big crowd on hand!
