the changes brought about by the PowerSchool SunGard merger and the future of K-

12 Education.

The CFISD team was invited to meet with Hardeep Gulati, CEO of Powerschool, and his leadership team at the

beginning of the conference. Hardeep entertained questions from the CFISD team and responded to each and every

question. He assured CFISD that the

acquisition will only help them and their

SunGard products.

Certica Solutions RoundTable

Norma Blenderman and Marta Bott participated in a roundtable discussion with Certica Solutions and the other

districts at the TSUN Conference. This was an excellent opportunity to share and learn best practices with our peers.

There was a lot of discussion about adding Office of Civil Rights (OCR) reporting and audit support into the Certica

platform.

“I Love PEIMS” - OnDataSuite

OnDataSuite is a partner of CFISD that

enables quick ad-hoc reporting based on

the district's data elements. Data comes

from multiple sources which allows for

correlation of diverse data points.

OnDataSuite also allows CFISD to

compare themselves with other districts in

Texas to see how they measure up. This

feature also is ad-hoc and immediate.

Cognos Reporting for

eSchoolPLUS and

eFinancePLUS

Donald Asher and Susan Andrews

Donald showed the attendees the basic

functionality for IBM Cognos 10.2.2 for

eSchoolPLUS and eFinancePLUS. He

included examples such as student letters.

Donald also showed the Cognos

integration tool for Microsoft Office. This

tool also users to insert a dynamic data

report into a Microsoft Office document.

The report can be in any format needed,

such as a chart or a graph. The user can

update the data on demand as needed.

This was a high level session that offered

different use cases for Cognos.

Cindy Opperman with Killeen ISD demonstrated how to effectively use eSchoolPLUS and OnDataSuite to collect the

required data elements needed for compliance with the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) reporting. This is a federally

required report that school districts must comply with.

Capitalize Analytics

Levi Mellen, a Senior Consultant with Capitalize Analytics, walked attendees through creating a report utilizing Cognos

Advanced WorkSpace.

Levi showed how to create a report using features such as filters, prompts and graphs. He also demonstrated drill-

through reports that allow you to see the disaggregated data

presented on a top level report or graph.

SQL Server AlwaysOn 9:15 AM

AlwaysOn. This session explains the

new SQL Server product that will take

the place of SQL Server replicating to

another physical machine. The

session was presented by John

Kimmel from PowerSchool.

House Bill 5 - eSchoolPLUS has your back! 10:30 AM

PowerSchool, presented how

eSchoolPLUS is handling the state of

Texas HB5 graduation requirements

and how to configure and establish the

data in eSchoolPLUS. Norma

session to determine best of breed

solutions for Cy-Fair HB5 compliance.

Year End Rollover in ESP 4.0 9:15 AM

Belinda Smith

Ed Kobus, Solutions Support Specialist at

PowerSchool, presented the “what’s and why’s” of

Year End processing in eSchoolPLUS 4.0. Belinda

Smith and Ann Sempe attended this presentation to

understand the new features and options involved with

Year End and rollover procedures in eSchoolPLUS

version 4.0.

The Unified Classroom 3:00 PM

Rodney White

This session was to introduce users new to PowerSchool

to the Unified classroom product. This application is

meant to unify many of the teacher’s daily teaching and

administrative tasks to allow the use of more time on

students instead of classroom administrative tasks.

Son and Dava attended the Advanced Report Writing

session presented by Levi Mellen and Serena Zindler,

with Capitalize Analytics.

Serena shared techniques for graphing, drill through

reporting and report bursting. To do this, she used

advanced filtering and sorting.

This information will be beneficial as CFISD continues

to advance their paperless process workflow initiative.

eSchoolPLUS Upgrade to 4.0 8:00 AM

This informative session was designed to help school

districts plan the best path to upgrading to eSchoolPLUS

4.0 or 4.1. The presenters discussed paperwork and

processes necessary to accomplish a successful version

upgrade. Belinda Smith, Ann Sempe and Rodney White

attended.

Personal Learning Networks (PLN) Scott Minar, Clear Creek ISD

Dava Clark, CFISD

Dava Clark got to meet Scott Minar, Senior Programmer with Clear

Creek ISD. Scott has recently purchased Laserfiche with the intent to

create digital forms with electronic workflow. Dava is currently

developing CFISD second online form, paperless Onboarding.

Dava and Scott had a robust discussion around Laserfiche form tool,

and exchanged contact information. They plan to work together to

create best of breed solutions.

ESchoolPLUS 4.0 Ambassadors 9:15 AM

This session had school districts that have successfully implemented eSchoolPLUS 4.0 sharing their experiences and

Virtualization (VM) for

Powerschool, Deep Dive 9:15 AM

Chris and John shared concepts for maximizing

performance of eSchoolPLUS and

eFinancePLUS in a virtualized environment.

PowerSchool provides a guide that will assist

CFISD in creating and tuning the new VM

infrastructure.

Dava Clark and Mark Flores, Director of Payroll, attended

Susan Andrew’s session, eFinancePLUS HR / Payroll

Roundtable. This session provided a roundtable

discussion centered on challenges and best practices for

HR and Payroll processes.

It was good for Dava and Mark to attend to together to

support both sides of the processes, technical and uses

centered aspects.

Norma Blenderman attended a PEIMS Roundtable. Fred

Jamann discussed updates to eSchool for the summer

TSDS PEIMS submission. He also gave an overview of the

changes to TSDS PEIMS for the 2017-2018 school year.

Norma Blenderman and Marta Bott attended three sessions on

Wednesday, all relating to the TSDS system and PEIMS

reporting. The sessions were very informative, especially

the one with Bryce Templeton from TEA. He outlined new

reporting requirements for the 2017-2018 school year,

discussed several pertinent house bills, and the impact of

domains 4 and 5 for school districts.
