(NBA 5130) Loved this classBailey,Warren

(NBA 5130) I really enjoyed discussing the cases throughout the semester. Keep it up with the car cases! There was a good balance between the deliveredcase and the discussion that followed. I liked that we opened up the zoom chat later in the class, it can be a good way to hear some additional insight fromstudents.

Bailey,Warren

(NBA 5130) The disney case was too early in the course and too technical so either it warrants more time or can be replaced with an easier topic/caseBailey,Warren

(NBA 5130) Prof Bailey brings true excitement and passion to the course material. He is a true expert on the complicated world of international finance andit was a total pleasure to learn from his sensible and pragmatic perspectives. I wish I could take more classes taught by him. In class - we could potentiallycover more technical aspects of some of the cases, such as models and valuation methods and structures. My bias is skewed slightly towards more technicaltopics and I would enjoy more numbers, figures and models. This may not be appropriate for the class audience as a whole however, this is just my personalpreference.

Bailey,Warren

(NBA 5130) After a team presented the case, I dont think its necessary to go through your case review. I felt like we were getting the same information twice.I wouldve preferred to have a discussion or lecture on a topic related to the case (like foreign exchange risk and getting more background information on howand why companies hedge).

Question: Improve effectiveness

(NBA 5130) Why the auto industry got wiped out of the US after a strong manufacturing boom in the early 1980s? Is the answer related to therise/weakening of EUR and the strengthening of the US dollar?

(NBA 5130) How some of the companies are successfully using options to avoid currency volatility despite the upfront cost.Bailey,Warren

(NBA 5130) Professor Bailey is incredibly knowledgable and brings a great deal of passion to the lessons. A few areas for improving the class, especially inthe context of the Zoom format include the following: 1) It would be helpful to require students to have their cameras on to keep the class more engaging. Many other professors require cameras to be on and when they are not on, it feels even less like a normal class environment than usual. 2) The lectures werevery interesting, but I think they would be more engaging if you were to ask the class to participate and answer questions more frequently. It is much easierto become distracted and lose focus over Zoom, so now more than ever, it is helpful to encourage class participation, which will keep the students engaged.3) Although the older cases are fascinating, it would be interesting to mix in a couple of more recent cases from the last few years. Thanks again foreverything, really enjoyed the class!

Bailey,Warren

(NBA 5130) One of the best professors in Johnson, absolutely enjoyed his lectures. He did very well adapting to Zoom world of holding lectures. Onefeedback would be to grade our writeups and give us feedback on the analysis instead of leaving towards the end; this will help us to improve the quality ofour analysis

(NBA 5540) Thanks Professor for making the class very practical and application oriented.Bailey,Warren

(NBA 5540) Concepts introduced in-class are in direct conflict with concepts taught in other classes, please reconcile them. The materials are poorlyorganized. The slides mostly contain screenshots of the instructors life adventures around the world. The instructor should clean up his slides, add the actualmaterials onto his slides, illustrate his key points with his stories, rather than the other way around. Also, the concepts the instructor teaches in class arentpractical and not really applicable in the real world. Furthermore, the homework and exam questions are not concise and clear. Its very difficult to understandwhat the instructor is actually asking. The instructor does not really make himself available. It seems like he just wants to go through all sorts of materialsand stories, and end the class. Its also unfair how students have to pay for his PowerPoint slides, which are poorly designed and written. So please focus onthe key concepts, illustrate them with stories, redesign all class materials (including slides, homework and exam questions) and be more available to students.

Bailey,Warren

(NBA 5540) Johnson needs to provide instructors with appropriate microphones. Often times, the voice of the lecture would fluctuate because of thetechnology he was using - making it difficult to hear some things. I missed parts of what the instructor was trying to say at times.

Bailey,Warren

Question: Improve effectiveness

(NBA 5540) Topics can include global financial system, international monetary systems, balance of payments, foreign direct investment, and internationaltrade. Other more practical topics would include doing business elsewhere and the risks and considerations associated with that

(NBA 5540) This isnt a financial derivative class, why is there so much emphasis on options and derivatives strategy?Bailey,Warren

(NBA 5540) the materials were interestingBailey,Warren

(NBA 5540) The real option. I never learned the concept of real option before.Bailey,Warren

(NBA 5540) The qualitative discussions of how countries approach certain issues related to overseas investing. I like that Prof Bailey can always come upwith examples from pretty much every major country. I like that political discussions are also raised from time to time, because undoubtedly, politics is anoverarching convern for any international investor.

Page 8: Samuel Curtis Johnson Grad Sch of Mgmt - Cornell University

(NBA 5540) This might sound radical, but bear with me. I think we can make this course S/U. The reason I suggest this is because while studying for theexams, I found that there is no right answer. There are certainly wrong answers, but I did not enjoy the anxiety of wondering if my answer was the "mostright" answer to get me the grades I aimed for. I know Prof Bailey often says in class "Guessing encouraged!", and this makes discussion in class relaxingbecause we are encouraged to think creatively. Answering exam questions can sometimes not really motivate critical thinking. Perhaps this is my modernway of thinking, but I am taking another course at Johnson which is S/U, and when the pressure of grades are taken out, I found myself participating far morein class discussions, and I think I learned a lot more in the course with the pressure of grades removed.

(NBA 5540) I found the topic of capital controls to be exciting to learn. Every country has their amount of restrictions, and it is important to know how thatimpacts foreign investments. I also found currency hedging to be the most practical concept to grasp. For example, I am an international student payingtuition in a currency that is other than my own "base" currency.

(NCC 5560) First of all, I loved Professor Bailey and his enthusiasm. It helps when professors love what they teach. I think tying the problem sets to thelectures more would be helpful to cement ideas. We did that a little bit, but I felt like the lectures went more into real world examples and special topics.Theres so much to cover so I know it gets difficult, but not coming from a finance background, having some guidance and connection between the work Iwas doing between classes and what I was learning in class could have been better.

Bailey,Warren

(NCC 5560) None, the instructor was able to deliver course content well and provided relevant feedback for the mid-term.Bailey,Warren

(NCC 5560) All the topics offered in the lectures were very effective and well prepared. Zoom meeting need some improvements like recordings were sometimes hard to access, or delayed uploads.

Bailey,Warren

(NCC 5560) In my personal view, I think the course content should have been more advanced and at a greater pace for the graduate level. The finance courseI took in undergrad was a good deal more rigorous and, in my view, this caused students to better retain the information because a greater degree ofconceptual understanding was required to do well on exams. For example, in our homework we were required to estimate various discount rates. I appreciatethe open ended nature of such a question as this is the kind of critical thinking we must conduct in the real world. However, I think we should have beenrequired to be more sophisticated and provide further evidence for our estimation such as DV01 risk, credit spreads of comparable bonds etc.

Bailey,Warren

(NCC 5560) Honestly, please include a practice exam that way people have a sense of what they are getting into in terms of the exam format and questiondifficulty. Several students had issues relating to formatting which hindered their ability to answer questions quickly.

Bailey,Warren

(NCC 5560) The questions in assignments, cases, exams, etc were very hard for me to know what was being asked for. The answers often seem to dig fordetails I had no idea was actually being asked in the question, so this left me lost most of the semester. I really appreciate professor Baileys commitment tothe class and students. He was very responsive to questions and would do his best to help us whenever we had questions.

Bailey,Warren

(NCC 5560) I really enjoyed Professor Bailey. He really needs to update some of his material and information. A lot of the end dates in his material was2012. Especially in this COVID Era and the effects on the economy, he needs to update this information. All in all, he did a great job adjusting to the Zoomformat.

Bailey,Warren

(NCC 5560) It could be helpful to organize a few short group activities/discussions during the Zoom so that students can interact with others and apply thematerial they are learning about. Otherwise, this was a great course and it was very well organized!

Bailey,Warren

(NCC 5560) None. He keeps gentle and kind during the course.Bailey,Warren

(NCC 5560) More TA since there is only one TA in the class and sometimes she is very busy to answer emails.Bailey,Warren

(NCC 5560) Maybe the TA should be clearer on exam grading or upload a mock exam beforehandBailey,Warren

(NCC 5560) I think he has been managing zoom pretty well, not sure how recordings work, but it seems like they are automatically uploaded. Goodprofessor, a bit disorganized sometimes but its okay!

(NCC 5560) Great Class and will prefer more in class practice questions where students solve the questions themselvesBailey,Warren

(NCC 5560) The professor did a really excellent job throughout the entire semester. I think class interaction is relatively important instead of all-timeprofessors talking.

Bailey,Warren

(NCC 5560) If the online course continues, it should be better without 5 minutes break in the middle of each class.Bailey,Warren

(NCC 5560) n/aBailey,Warren

(NCC 5560) When equations were solved in the powerpoint slides, they were usually hard to understand because all of the formatting involved manyparenthesis and carrots for exponents instead of proper use of subscripts and superscripts. All equations would be easier to understand if they were writtenout in proper math notation instead of just as text in a powerpoint.

Bailey,Warren

(NCC 5560) It would be helpful if the professor generously answered logistics or administrative questions. If he does not know the answer, then he couldpolitely say you could email the Johnson school registrar.

Bailey,Warren

(NCC 5560) Excellent teaching style!Bailey,Warren

(NCC 5560) First of all, I loved Professor Bailey and his enthusiasm. It helps when professors love what they teach. I think tying the problem sets to thelectures more would be helpful to cement ideas. We did that a little bit, but I felt like the lectures went more into real world examples and special topics.Theres so much to cover so I know it gets difficult, but not coming from a finance background, having some guidance and connection between the work Iwas doing between classes and what I was learning in class could have been better.
