What is SAMR?
• SAMR is a model designed to help educators infuse technology into teaching and learning.
• Helps teacher design, develop and integrate digital learning experiences that utilize technology
• Goal: transform learning experiences so they result in higher levels of achievement for students

So what does this REALLY look like in
action?
Substitution
• No functional change in teaching or learning
• Bloom's Level - remembering
• TECH - traditional
• BigBrainz • Kahoot! • Online Worksheets • Fillable forms • Quizzing
Augmentation
• Substitute with functional change
• Blooms - Applying and Understanding
• TECH - enhanced learning experience for students
• Osmo • Chirp • Popplet • Timeline • Kahoot! • Today's Meet
Modification
• Technology allows for significant task redesign
• Blooms - Evaluate, Modify, Apply
• TECH - Choice
• LittleBits • Chatterpix • QR Codes • Camtasia • Blogging

Makerspace Activities
What is a ?
• A place for students to think critically, problem solve and collaborate.
• Provides creative time, time to explore questions, fail and retry, bounce ideas off of one another and build something together
Engineering Design Process
• Ask • Define the problem • What do you already know
• Imagine • brainstorm some possible solutions • research to find out more
• Plan • draw a possible solution • list the steps involved
Engineering Design Process
• Create • Follow your plan and create your solution • Collaborate with your teams • Test your design and implement your solution
• Improve • Retest your design and re-design if necessary • Learn from your mistakes
• Present/Reflect • Share your design with the whole group • Discuss failures and successes
Makey Makey in Action
• Makey Makey Lesson Plan • Great for teaching:
• Insulators and conductors
• Complete Circuits • Series Circuits
• Science for Kids YouTube Channel
• Series Circuits • Parallel Circuits
Bee Bots
BeeBots in Action
Epic Lego Wall
• Great for teaching- • Area & Perimeter • Shapes • Simple addition &
subtraction • Patterns • Engineering & Building • Just being creative!
Lego Wall Supplies
WeDo • Learn robotics and simple machines • Engineering and programming skills • Collaboration and teamwork • Lego WeDo Summer Camp Blog • Legos in Education Pinterest Board
Lego WeDo
Lego WeDo Summer Camp
Lego WeDo in K-2 STEAM Lab
Process: * 45 minutes each session/day
• Session 1 - Build from directions and preview programming
• Session 2 - Robots are already built and students focus on programming
• Session 3 - Students build AND program same robot from Session 1
• Session 4 - Students may choose a different build and program

STEAM Lab
• K-2 • Inspiring Curiosity Video • More structured Makerspace • Follows the science
curriculum and what classes are doing
• Classes visit for 45 minutes each day for 4 consecutive days
